- Cry for the Strangers (1982)
Staring Patrick Duffy and featuring Robin Ignico
The little coastal town of Clark's Harbor seems like the perfect place for psychiatrist Brad Russell and his wife to get a little peace and spend more time with each other. But the locals don't seem very friendly and, every time a storm rolls in, another mysterious death occurs. - Розваги
I absolutely loved this never even heard of it before but something is different when watching movies from the 70's! It is a strange comfort!😊❤😊
I suggest you read the book! It's brilliant! The books ALWAYS exceed the movie...always!
@@charmaynebruce6215 right! The books are always better!1😊
😊 same here, I love these old shows, before I was born
The town where it was filmed is Coupeville, Washington. My father, who lived there at the time, was an extra - one of those people who ran up on the dock. I didn't even know the name of the movie, but I found it yesterday and watched it over 40 years later. Spotted my father (a few years after his death now).
Thats neat. Wish hed described him so we know who he is. I was amazed how they were all moving. In good shape. Im ready to live some place like this.
They need to get out of there. Once again another stupid man. Someone dying everytime a storm. Few more days. Guess she will have to die wakes himbup.
Dontvu love it. Dont touch it so she immed. Touches it.
I mean without the spirits and these storm deaths of course.
Very wierd he doest wake up with his sisters screaming.
Watching in 2023 These older movies the Best
Older movies are so underrated. The boy was in Something wicked this way comes too
Coffee, brownies, rain outside and two great movies in a row. I'm happy. Thank you for these movies I never knew existed.
I could not have said it better.
6 years ago I'm watching in 2020 ✌️💖🙏
You need a buddy, asap
@@MidnightVentures you certainly took your time to reply. Hi ya. Jeep safe and blessed.
Amen to that
I love the sound of thunder and lightning in these movies.
Movies of the '70s-early '90s are the most memorable in my opinion! I especially love the cinematography in the movies of each era in that time period. Each era has its own distinct cinematography style. This film is no exception. Very reminiscent of the early '80s which is when this was made. The soundtrack too really gives this story character. I wish modern films would have more of this kind of approach to their style and storytelling but I guess we can't live in the 20th century forever.
Patrick Duffy is one of the most handsome men going, then or now.
good movie. heck of a lot of storms go on there. not a pleasant place to live.
I saw this movie when I was around nine years old, which would have been 1989 - I've searched for it ever since without a name or anything, all I could remember was the heads in the sand, the thunder and lightning between scenes, and have only just found it now, thanks for the upload!
wow. total ditto.
Keep an eye out for the book. John Saul is one hell of a writer! A book always surpasses the movie. Your imagination, as you read, is always better than someone else's. Mine is, anyway :)
Watching during the Covid19 Lockdown. May 17 2020. Patrick Duffy, my hero from 'Dallas'. I never missed an episode! Wish I could go back to the 70s.
Beautiful scenery. This was a good role for Patrick Duffy.
I love John Saul novels, hopefully this movie won't disappoint.
Yes! John Saul ~ one of the legends!
Loved John Saul on the 70's and 80's@
I wish I lived in a place that stormed as much as it did there!
Oh, me too! Tho' I'm not fussed on thunder; torrential rain ~ yes! gimmie, gimmie...!
Cannot beat a good thunderstorm. Unfortunately, living in London, they only last about 10 mins before the sun comes out…..
Thank you... this was a good movie.Good plot & fair acting. Much better than what is on tv today!
YOU HAVE THE BEST MOVIES....THANK YOU for taking us back to when movies where movies....
John Saul! Wow! I read this book when it first came out. Mr Saul was one of my all time favourites! I read every book I could get my hands on; I collected them. No doubt, I watched this movie but, as far as I'm concerned, the book is ALWAYS better. The "movie" is made in your mind as you read. This was a brilliant book by a top-notch author! And a gorgeous one, to boot!
I live in a coastal town called Clarks Harbor, So it was kind of cool to find this movie can't wait to watch it.
the vibes i get from the font of the opening credits... just incredible.
Anyone watching in 2020/28👍

Its 2020
Me june 2020 in the middle of that nasty virus /I hope you all we from uk
Good movie
Bless you for uploading this! I've been looking for it since I was about 8. I remember staying up late and watching it with Mum. I wondered about it over another 8 years later when I read the book. I'm a John Saul fan and this film didn't occur to me when I read the others.
Spoiler alert: I specifically remember the hand in the sand. Mum had to explain to me how all that stuff is done.
Again, thanks so much.
Catherine La El I’m a fan of John Saul, too, but his books haven’t been transferred to the screen very well. Too bad, too. He has some great books.
If this came out in '82 I was 7 years old. It scared me so bad. Over the years I could only remember bits and pieces. Mostly the end where the little girl is almost killed. One day it popped in my head (still with me after almost 40 years). Thought I'd search what I could remember. Can't believe I found the whole movie! Thank you! Wonder if it's as scary as I remember?
That little girl was so irritating, constantly moaning, screaming... I guess it's how the scriptwriters think girls ought to behave.
I wasn’t even born yet
@@yehmen29 I agree, it's a good movie but the kids characters are obnoxious
Searched for this movie for 20 years. All I could remember was the pit and the Natives.
Lifelong fan of Mr. John! Started reading him as a teen and anxiously await releases. I never knew about this movie though so thank you to whomever posted this. His stories are definitely worthy of big screen. I like his stuff more than Kings' and i am a big Stephen King fan too. I fear that Mr. John is retired and we wont have the pleasure of anymore stories. That breaks my heart but he deserves to have time to travel and enjoy his Husband. God Bless John Saul.
I read the book by John Saul, there was a whole series, loved them all.
I LOVED this book as a teen, haven't watched the movie in a long time, will be e to see if I like it still.
Most amount of thunder and lightning in a movie ever.
HAHAHHAH
The little girl is a great little actress
I'm A HUGE John Saul Fan!! Have all and have read ALL his books. I read somewhere that he wouldn't make any movies from his books, so I was surprised to see this! I did like "Cry for the Strangers"...GOOD read! One of his earlier works. I will watch, then get back...Thank You for posting this though...
Scott Owens I love John Saul. I read a lot of his books, Second Child, Pry for the Sinners, Suffer the Children, Nathaniel,Shadows, to name a few. I always wished they would have made more movies out of his books. Second Child would have made a great movie.
Thanks for getting back! Second Child would have made a great movie, of course...if done right! I wish more movies would come out of his books also, although he said he would never do so (I don't know why)...Alot of his stories WOULD make great ones!!! Nathaniel was the very 1st book I read of his, and was hooked ever since. Shadows would make a great movie too, although they may have tried to come close with a recent movie with Johnny Depp called "Transcendence". NOT very well done (just my opinion), but similar to the story line of Shadows. Could've been done better, and hopefully someone may, if John Saul allows it...Could make a VERY good ONE!!!
+Robert Owens I cant believe you said Nathaniel was the very first book you read of Saul's.. it was my first book too.. i was hooked after that.. Comes the Blind Fury.. wouod also make an awesome movie
+Robert Owens 'Suffer the Children' was my first book. I feel a re-read coming on with many of them. Sadly, there's never the time lately. However, I didn't link the book to this film until I read 'Cry for the Strangers' and became even more interested to know where the movie was. This was when I was 16! So finally get to see it. 'Second Child' and 'Brainchild' were two other favourites. I always wondered about them being made into films.
Second Child would have made the best movie.
Interesting movie about clouds...Clouds moving across the sky...More clouds...Clouds moving across the sky again, about a hundred more times...More clouds...sometimes wind...and more clouds...lightning drawn in with a crayon...and more clouds...
Best review ever!
Yeah, they got a lot of value out of that one film clip of ominous storm clouds moving across the sky. Funny thing is, I think I've seen that clip in other films of the era.
+Yin Horvath HAHAHAHA!! that's very funny and accurate!!!
+Yin Horvath And crazy music. It seemed to scare the dog.
Yin Horvath Your comment really made me laugh
TVterrorland,
With all these 70's era movies, I wonder if you were a CBS Radio Mystery Theater fan? With E. G. Marshall? I used to listen every night as a kid. Thanks to the internet I am listening to it again.
Cbs radio mystery theatre is my favorite OTR.
If you like that checkout NIGHTFALL, a radio play from the 80s
My grandmother swore i never saw this movie, making me think i was crazy. It took years to find the name and longer to find a way to watch it
This movie is kind of like a mix of "The Fog" and Scooby doo
remoteb 🤣🤣🤣
Whoa, now I have to watch! thanks! (The 1979 version on The Fog I hope!)
I liked it, Atmospheric , creepy and artistic thanks
not to creepy. Thanks
Good movie. Good actors.
I read the novel this was based on when I was a teenager. Now I get to watch the movie adaption.
I found this movie by mistake and noticed that house looked familiar. Looked online and found this link to watch the whole movie. In the movie is the Heceta Head Lighthouse and that house was the keepers house. Town is Florence. I live about an hour from that place.
Lee Trichell That's cool. what state is Florence in?
Oregon.
I was just at the Cry for the Strangers house yesterday.
cool
Well, whoopty-doo, what's your point?
This is more like it: Atmospheric , creepy and artistic thanks
Thanks so very much for taking the time to give us a description for the movie.
I wish more would be so dedicated .
I really hate it when people bitch and moan about something they are being given for free. Have you never heard of Google??
I kid, loved it, I love 80s movies fucking awesome.
After all the times Bobby went out the window you would think the parents would put some kind of are lock on it
That weird boy should've been locked in the room!
never saw this one before, a lot of fun thanks for the upload
Dancing up a storm : ) For those that mentioned all the cloud shots.......can't have storm dancers without em.Such a good "throwback" movie with a lot of big names from that time frame. Almost the same build up music as Jaws.
Loving all these movies you show . Thank you.
Thankyou for sharing this
I'm reading a book called Second Child by Saul Paul. I bought it a while back and while it's starting a slow read, I like the way he writes. I've had it for a while and picked it up yesterday. Just hit chapter three today... :)
Second Child would make a great movie.
I love John Saul books, so I'll have to read this one.
Movie is based on a book by John Saul. Pretty good movie but if I was those parents, I'd be nailing some windows shut!
I know I owned the book way back when, I was thinking it was Mary Higgins Clark.
John Saul, I had 6 or 7 of his books.
Someone had stolen them out of my locker at school.
Still fantastic in 2024!!!🧛🦇⚰️
I'm also a John saul fans just loved him
What is your favorite book?
It's mostly her voice, not the girl herself. She's quite good.
The actor looks like singer from ELO.. thanks for sharing this movie!
thanks for all of your uploads. majority of these movies were made waaaaaaaay before my time but i really enjoy them.. better than the shit they use these days to try and scare us
Watching in 2014
Good one
Thankyou. Read this book long ago. Very good.✌🍀
Love these old time movies they don't make these kind of movies anymore???!!!🧛🦇⚰️ GaryBailey KingofDarkness
loved this film very spooky reminded me of the fog only with the storm
OK, thank you so very much. I will check it out. If I like it, I will thank you again for guiding me toward good literature. It was very nice of you to reply. :)
Do we live in a version of the North Korea, because we are not allowed to know the number of people who had disliked this film, but they let me know the number of likes!?
How messed up is this!
This is an example how were being controlled by the government!
I can't buy two boxes of paracetamol but I can buy a trolley load of vodka!!!
Who's doing this to us, in the UK?
If you can see the number of dislikes, share with us, as we're being treated like toddlers!!
Good movie. Could've had a better ending. Thank you!
quite good.much of the coastal scenery reminds me of John Carpenter's The Fog,along with other spooky bits and pieces in the Story.although the Fog was an ABSOLUTE classic. In fact the Setting is a Little like a US Version of West Wales' coast in the UK where I holidayed as a Teenager.Who'd have thought?Good ol' Judge Hardcastle (Brian Keith) turning out to be the unstable weirdo. Thanks for sharing
john carpenter... exactly what i thought at first.
The Fog is great. Filmed entirely in Cali. Strangers was OR & Washington state.
Watching in 2021!
Patrick Duffy is a good looking fellow.
vickiesimp cry for the strangers like the 🎥
I thought Cindy Pickett was a cutie
@@cailtegreen7764 ...And, probably always will be!!
I loved this movie, not so much for the story line, but the ambiance and the sense of foreboding. I liked the movie, don't get me wrong, but I loved how creepy the night scenes were. Today's movie don't make me feel that way.
The atmosphere is so 1980s.'Give her a sedative', whether it's an adult woman... or a female child. Why are female children pictured as cowards and unstable by the way?
September 2020 anyone watching?? Stay safe...😊😊😊😊
Nice movie, love the music especialy.
Great movie 😍
...and I would have gotten away with it, if it wasn't for those meddling kids!
Give Robby a Scooby Snack.
+Gunga Galunga LOL I was thinking Scooby Doo also.
Gunga Galunga that is hysterical, I am about a half hour in and thought, I'm going to read a few comments lol. Gonna watch the rest anyway, I like Scooby Doo 😃. By the way, is that the kid from Wonder Years
The actual name of the movie is "Don't Go To Sleep". She was great in that and this one.
Maybe in your country but in the Netherlands we called it Cry for the strangers, remember watching this movie as a kid. Very nice movie.
This isn't Don't go to sleep. That was about a girl who takes over her living sister's body to dispatch her living family members. This is different
Now I've got to read the damn book. lol Thanks for posting!
that little girl was in a movie called "Don't Go To Sleep", with Valerie Harper.
that movie title... im thinkin the entire world hasnt seen it... as most are completely asleep
Robyn Ignacio was in another horror flick called "Don't Go to Sleep". It co-starred, Dennis Weaver, Valerie Harper, Ruth Gordon and the boy from "Poltergeist".
Just watch , a couple of weeks ago 💯, that Film 📽️🎥 , your talking about was intensely creepy and macabre weirdnesses scary atmospheric. Especially how the sister convinced her living sister to go gaslighting bating her family members, murdering them when she went after Valerie Harper, Valerie was such a talented actress. Remember her from Rhoda , in my single adolescent years. But that bedroom scene, at the end, Sheesh 🙄🥺🙄, creepy. The sister that live, Robyn was such, good and Impishness mischievous, actress with her mannerisms, plus the dead sister. Both were spot creepy. I can remember a movie 🍿🎥 from the early,70s called the Other, set in the 30s, about two twin boys, with that impishness Inclination, especially when he , went after his paralyzed Mom
Just watched that one. These films keep coming up
Good movie.
Part of the movie was filmed in Coupeville, WA, which is next to Oak Harbor.
Watching now..
first time I saw this movie I was 8 years old , December of 1982 I believe if memory serves correct December 11, 1982 it scared me I kinda thought it was almost like the Amityville Horror
Different love these old folk law movies
folklore
The quality of the movie wasn't very clear. I do think I would have enjoyed it if It wouldn't have been so blurry.
There was another 80s movie also about Devils Bend or Devils Arm that was haunted by the ghosts of native indian people.
Why are so many of these older movies in 240p, this shit is worse than watching it on the TV's we had back then.
Maybe it was a vhs recording from 82. Then transferred to dvd. Like my old family pics. We will never know
Let me add just one word to that movie's final scene.....
I D I O T !!!!
😂
Nothing strange about loving storms. Many people do...have always been fascinated with storms. That's why we have meteorologists and storm chasers, etc..
Without them, we would be at a loss...and, have to look out our windows to know the weather.
Ooops! That's what I do now!
I Have Always Been Fascinated About Storms Since I Was A Young Boy. As An Adult I Am Still Fascinated, I Have Some Videos On UA-cam About Lightning Storms, In A Strange Way Excites Me Still.
Through Out My Life I Have Always Had A Fascination About Meteorology. I Remember Back In 1978, (Changing Subject A Little) I Drew Graphs Of Barometric Pressure During A Blizzard, The Graph Was Like A "V" Shape As The Pressure Dropped And Recovered After The Storm. As I Said I Have A Few Nature Videos But I Noticed I Talk To Much, I Have To Work On That, Even I Get Annoyed. I Hope To Have Better Lightning Storm Videos In The Future Or Next Year.
BTW-I Loved Reading The Book Better And Then Watched The Movie, The Story In The Book Is More Spooky In My Opinion, Using Your Imagination.
2024 ❤frm India ❤
@Karloffrules Really, I liked that little girl in both movies.
Miss Peel from Little House on the Prairie.
I'm going against the majority.
I didn't really care for the movie, and I was disappointed because I was looking forward to seeing Patrick Duffy in something I'd enjoy.
Still, it wasn't full of jump scares, profanity and gore, which I can do without, but these days, that's about all we get. Movies from the '70s and '80s had more to offer, (for me) with deeper storylines I appreciate that.
Good movie seem likes it rain every night
I agree with you...Thank God for UA-cam we get a second chance to enjoy these movies and than you TV TERRORLAND..I just makes me feel good, when I see a good movie,,its like a good meal
I thought man from Atlantis ( Patrick Duffy) was the most gorgeous man in the world. And Elvis of course and Mario Lanza. They still are gorgeous. Think I was 8-10 lol. Thought I was growing up and marrying my most favourite man. My dad 😂RIP OLD MAN ❤
Depends on your opinion, I suppose. For me, it was actually my favorite of all his books that I had (and since he was my favorite horror writer for several years, I had quite a few of them) I lost a lot of them when I moved, but Second Child is still in my bookshelf now. I don't know if you'll like it as much as I do, but it's worth looking at.
Comes the blind fury and punish the sinners are my favorites :)
@@jennfarmer2799 I actually still have Comes the Blind Fury too.
12:52 This guy would be great teaching Hospitality 101 at the local Innkeepers' College.
😂
Looks like the beach in the Goonies.
Thanks for the movie, what a brilliant oldie from my generation. Without the constant suspense music it prob would be quite boring. lol .
Is this a Mary Higgens Clark story.?
I had the book way back when....
Guess I'll find out.......
I'm surprised you didn't mention Cindy Pickett.
picture quality....not good.
I swear this background music reminds me of "jaws"
....so j.r. son from Dynasty. So young he looked really good
J.R 's bro from Dallas
based on the book by John Saul??
