- In this video, we talk about the State of ESO PvP's Meta and the one build to rule them all. We talk about why it is so stronk- and How all this came about plus a possible solution to this meta.
Everyone knows the build or should, as it is the META ESO PvP Build, and everyone including ur grandma runs this spec in pvp. if you have no idea what this meta build is, then just watch the video, as I explain it in detail.

Also I made a series of some very purposefully bad build videos. and some of you goobers took it seriously, while others knew i was memeing. if you go to those videos, in the description of EACH one, this is written at the bottom.

I am making fun of the Channels on UA-cam who farm the build video algorithm and get easy views, and subs and clicks. I spent 1 hour making this video and normally, I spend around about 47 hours or more on my build video projects, since I actually put effort into what I create. I have watched SOO MANY Channels that did not exist yesterday, just pop up out of no where, Out-Perform my own channel in terms of Growth and Attention simply because they either got lucky or they make Very simple content that anyone can replicate. it makes me mad. SO I MADE THIS GARBAGE!! this video was actually fun to make, for the simple fact that i am meming around and being a goober. i actually think i will make more of these EZ build videos, since I am confident that it will do well.
listen, this is just me venting. which I need to do as a part of my UA-cam phase.
look, it is incredibly stupid that UA-cam works like this, but i am tired of people just poping up one day, and making simple guides and videos with little to no effort and seeing massive Channel Growth. I guess that is just what I have to do. follow the cool kids.

Wow, superb video, thank you for your explanations. As a absolute pure solo PVPer (generally a good to very good one in game) who have written in the forum to complain about how a pure PVPer is left behind in the game, I understand much better, why I struggle that much in PVP to top charts in this game (contrary to famous others). The lack of access to the PVE gear becomes to penalizing for me, you showed me by how much ! Liked and subscribed !
A true PvP player will be resourceful enough in PvE to get the gear they want for PvP
On xbox NA, dks are def the biggest users of this kind of build design.
I dont run masters dw, vate, way of fire, or maarselok, yet i dont really struggle vs it either. Its basically every dk, sorc, and arcanist at this point, yet although its certainly overtuned, i find it pretty doable to fight against, even outnumbered. So though it's not the most fun meta, ive seen a lot lot worse ones.
This patch I'm mostly playing warden, arcanist, nightblade, and templar.
I really appreciate you making this and drawing attention to the ridiculousness

Any advice on how to show multiple icons for the ExoYs Proc Timer add-on? I can only get one to show and I’m sure there’s a setting in either that add-on or in the LUI Extended add-on that I’m missing or just need to switch.
you gotta click on the proc timer icon and move it around on your screen. other timers will appear behind it if you never move it.

Love the video but from just playing I’ve learned the new meta and the counter to it is 5-6 heavy 2 medium or 1-1 medium/light but you need balorghs or onslaught to have the extra damage or pen to take them out cause the ticks do hit hard and make it hard to heal
So let me start by saying I guess I'm part of the problem since I have a bunch of different toons running variations of this. That being said have some questions if you would like to help. Going between maras balm and way of fire on sorc and wondering what the best 5 piece would be for him. What would the best 5 piece be for warden? Using maras balm atm but want to switch it. Also what would be the best 5 piece set for a brawler nightblade?

this build is trash.
Ive not run this setup on warden, but in pretty surprised you find it best there, tbh. Warden sustain feels rough. It needs 27 healing skills which is great to stay topped off, but irs buff simulator and still doesnt have the "get me out of beam range" button of coag. I feel like dk and nb do more damage in trainee than meta-ish magden. Plus lacking hard cc. Idk, my dk just feels so much easier to play.
I might try this, but it doesnt really feel like im playing my warden, if feels like im playing masters dw/maarselok, ya know? Its fun when your bar is full of class skills.

What sucks its that theres no way to counter it unless youre a templar or using the exact same build. This meta sucks because it doesnt require skill to kill, you just have to do a couple of skills and medium heavy attack.
What u think about snake in the stars set with it? If they wanna heal it will delete them, especially because you can proc it with vateshran staff as well for combo
Niche set but could work with this setup pretty well, you either die from procs or from anti heal set

thoughts on blood thirsty over infused? is it a huge damage diff? I like infused to effect my healing as well
blood thirsty easily pushes like 10% more damage to targets below 50%, but I still pick infused, because yeah the healing.
have you tried way of fire instead of wretched? seems like a lot of damage. also I made a imperial instead of kitty. did i screw myself?

The 40k+ hp along with good dmg is horrible for pvp. Currently you'll have groups almost fighting to a stalemate cuz everyone's running the same stuff. Then a bomber clears a side up. It's not as fun as it used to be.
Look, I just want to play ESO and use what I wanna use, Skyrim style. Hell, first couple years of ESO I used only one one-handed sword and a bow (and admittedly struggled in PVP as result). Came back after year or so hiatus and while I was kicking ass before, now I'm doing good damage at best, not to mention feeling a lot squishier. Does anyone have any advice on an Oakensoul build? Really takes it outta the fight for me when I gotta go hit three buttons to have a series of buffs that are necessary to any meaningful damage.
had the game for 7 years. Its always been normal to have at least 3 buffs

I ise to run curse of doylemish dw, red mountain, band of brutality,and maelstrom resto backbar on stamsorc way back and it was just filthy on stamsorc. Buff up, hit the runecage whatever its called sorc single target stun and windup a heavy attack with crystal weapons. The delay on the stun made it really hard to cc break before my heavy attack landed so curse would hit ppl for like 13k plus redmountain and all i need to do was spin to win. It was like playing a noninvis ganker and id just run around hitting ppl for 26k ish dmg from just a stun heavy attack combo.
I loved Curse! 😂 I played it on MagDK with backbar resto front bar dual wield. Would root them, then instantly delete them. Good times!
I really like the pvp battlegrounds but im lvl 48 when i hit lvl 50 cp1 am i going to get slammed by cp3000 people when i just want my 2nd place for daily?
@@_SayaNara i didn't know battle grounds is no cp i thought i was gonna be unwinnable without being cp10000 and the cp lvl come way faster than the first 50
There is no CP in battlegrounds, so once you get max level gear CP 160 you will be on the same playing field as everyone else regardless of CP.

My favorite patch by far was during blackwood patch where it was no proc but cp was allowed

What’s the cp ?
We need some solid anti heal sets. None of this 8% bullshit. Ballgroups in cryodill stacking heals is cancer
They have that one strong anti heal set that does like 2k oblivion damage (unmitigatable) every .2 seconds someone gets healed for 4 seconds. Granted I think that's the only good anti heal set, and also you'd have to sacrifice a defence, regeneration, or utility set for it which leaves you struggling to survive. Otherwise you drop your damage set and then you leave yourself unable to kill people.
My point is that's the only good anti heal set, I do agree there should be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more options for anti heal. Necromancer is really the only good one with anti heal, but it's only 16% for 4 seconds AND you have to run the stamina varient, AND necro is the worst class in the game at the moment
@@Tilley53Dunno how long youve been playing for but were already lost. Healing debuff on skills and sets used to be 20-40% and it was needed. Dark flare used to aoe heal debuff for min 20% if not 40% also old cp were alot better and made for pvp since you had healing debuff shield strength etc. Now w cp rework the game has just gone
mad in pvp. Also animation canceling the major factor on how good a player actually was is gone. Its a shitty game now compared to before
@Ju-Peter667 I've been playing on and off since release but I got into it more around 2-3 years ago. I remember the old veteran rank, but I never even looked at it because I never hit vet rank. I also ONLY played DK for a long time, and even then I played him as a tank and wasn't very good. I like the new CP tree, but I don't think it offers enough variety. And anti heal nodule would be great, I'd sacrifice damage or defence for an anti heal nodule that stacls with class anti heal. But seeing how they neefed anti heal in class kits and sets that hard is actually kinda crazy to me. Because people complain about healing all the time. I will admit though, I still enjoy the game, because I only take it semi seriously

Agreed. This meta sux. Its dissappinting when zos makes pvp players have to grind pve content to get a pvp meta. Pve already has everything going for it. I'm not even talking about the simplicity if this meta.
Do u think a good build would be: Oakensoul, Masters duals, maarseloc monsters, wretched vit, and trainee or druids in the other 2 slots? for NB, coz i have some disability in my left arm and is easier for me to pvp with 1 bar!
no. meta requires 2 bars.
if you want 1 bar - be healer :D if you want killing ppl and winning 1v1s - u need meta.

Heavy/medium attack as much as you can. Be sure to have a spectral bow ready then medium attack + concealed (to offbalance AND stun simultaneous) then bow into heavy attack then impale.
@@CoursiccThis is just far worse than a regular NB.
Most everyone will have to run some form of a purge unless they revert proc sets criting in PvP and adjust those two sets specifically. And that wont save you, but at least you wont get deleted instantly by all the free overpowered proc damage.
Just food for thought. Maybe the Support purge skill needs to be buffed signifigantly
The problem is that between Ele Sus, Master's DoT, Vate DoT, Maarselok DoT, Hemorrhage, Brittle, and whatever effect procs from weapon enchants, there's just so much to purge all at once. And all of it (except Vate and Maarselok) can just be reapplied nearly instantly. You'll run out of Magicka/Stamina before you manage to kll the meta spammer. And that's not even mentioning Plaguebreak.
@@nickcrawford2456 I'm in agreement. There's alot to unpack on top of this monster set ruining any form of healing.
There are some solutions, but as you mentioned it's not ideal because re-applying will always be faster.
Anytime I fight people cheesing too much with stinging slashes/wrath of elements or Im forced to use it myself just to compete I instead play other game all together. I haven't played pvp or eso in general for 3 months, I hope that explains how unfun this 'meta' is.
Also, rending slap will stack on you so you can have 2 of these procd on you at once

They could make the 10% crit bonus only effect martial damage
That would make it a waisted slot for this build but than you would also get a huge reduction to self heals sooo that would probably be my move to nerf it, its not really the best tho you do more running away than killing

Man malacath is underrated for a noncrit build. I was at Davon’s watch wayshrine doing some duels against a sweat lord DK and when I was wearing my markyn ring I simply could NOT beat em. Threw on my malacath and I was finally able to win. Malacath is also REALLY strong for boosting damage on proc sets
Yeah the meta builds are boring af, I challenge myself to using unique off mental builds. Don’t even get me started with duels. They are the most toxic gross part of this game. Had a full proc cheese dk not be able to kill me on my warden running swift and winter respite and he left the duel and trash talked me when I was about to kill him using a full tank magden hahaha. Had another guy tell me bow and 2h stam dk roll build was op. The people in this game have zero touch with reality.
Honestly no clue why my beloved necro died although it's a DoT meta- guess I'll still try my annoying bleedcro build with Dragon's Appetite, masters dw (yes sorry I use that), and back bar 2h for weapon buff, carve bleed, probably just my good old Stuhn or NMA or sth. Maybe I'll also grind Mage Guild for its DoT and either buff or heal attached, and of course Magicka Blastbones
Most of this problem would be fixed if purges were more accessible. It's ridiculous that they changed dots to 20-30s, but left some classes without a way to purge them.
Sorc could purge 1 effect with Dark Exchange morphs.. I would also change the heal to a split of upfront + hot for the duration the same way the sustain was handled a few years ago. Dark Deal would be 6k + 4k over 10s. Dark Conversion would be 7.5k + 5k over 20s.
NB could purge anytime Siphoning Strikes expires, base = 1, increasing by +1 every 10s. This means you could spam it for 1 effect and a small cost like Warden or wait 10s for 2, 20s for 3.
DK could purge 2 effects when they ult since that is technically their sustain skill. Maybe 3-4, but for a passive that's pretty strong and their already extremely tanky.
Necro's hex needs more juice, they feel like a waste of bar space. Not sure how to buff it.
Arcanist could purge 1 effect anytime Tome Bearer's Inspiration procs aka, once every 3 or 5 seconds. Sounds powerful, but keep in mind the skill require a class skill to hit and it's based on offense where as all the other purges can be spammed or done passively on defense. If once every 3-5s is too powerful, could make it proc every second tick instead for 6-10s.
Warden's netch is perfect.
Templar's Ritual is perfect.
DKs deserve nothing. Not having a purge is they’re only weakness in PVP.

i feel like its worth noting that markarth wasnt vigor (that was greymoor) but was instead the much more destructive crimson/vate ice/vate 2h/zaan/malacath, or crimson/alessian/malacath werewolf/warden take over stacking 45k+ hp with 30k minimum burst potential, and this meta reminds me 100% of markarth lol (i was insta nuking people on my warden with that, it was not a good time for anyone)
while i mostly agree with you, healing needs adjustment, or defile needs to be useful again. ever since the nerf to majors and minors, theres been little to no use of defile, and it has such an insignificant impact these days. i would not go nuts really anywhere else, healing has just been getting out of hand the last couple years
How do we fix the balance? Battle spirit caps health at 30k before emp, minor toughness, other changes like necro Goliath ult and allow DoTs to be blocked. Tanky bois become more vulnerable to burst and that requires more skill than pressing three buttons and turtling
And undeath getting the nerf it deserves.
Undeath won’t matter as much with HP ceiling
Just remove procs
30k hp limit is kinda dumb, that’s what you need base to even really contest

It's because the bad players go for the procs and the sweats want to bully the bad players to feel good about themselves. The truly good OG players quit.
I’ve legitimately tried to get all the streamers to promote no proc but it turns out they also crutch on Proc sets
I think zenimax should make abilities deal more damage not proc sets. Make abilities deal damage again. Remember when crit rush would hit someone for 1/3 their health bar way back in the day. There’s no reaction anymore. The animation canceling nerfs also made this game not sh.t. There’s no ability skill anymore it’s all about what sets can you stack to be more of a bot.
yeah like 90% of my pvp encounters are people running the exact same setup here, I've actually been enjoying no proc no cp IC/cyro
I remember the only one pointy-point in time, when all was pretty well balanced: just after that big buff for many sets, when said harbinger got its 7% scaling and malacath was still +25% with 0 crit chance. NBs were gankin'. Necros were tankin'. All were happy. Just at the brink of this "Cyro Performance Saga" or I should say "Cyro Performance Benny Hill Show". And after that, cringe creep followed with acceleration...
If this is such a popular meta (not that I doubt that), why aren't there elaborate build guide videos on it? You know the type I mean, right? Like, where they needlessly read aloud to us all the passives and tell us how to craft enchants for the gear; just sparing no detail whatsoever. People seem to love making videos like those. Seems like surely someone would cover this meta.
Wouldn't Plaguebreak be a good 5-piece to use in this setup, since it punishes the enemy for cleansing? That way you get em coming or going..?
Becusse the build videos you see that get put out by “””” content creators””””” are dogs builds that are decent on paper and will get them the views for ther income , they do that so all the pubs put these builds on , go into pvp an get hammered by people running the proper builds which again will get them ther X videos, circle of life
It would but you will end up missing out on survivability/sustain so you'd self nerf yourself
@@Sk0lzky On DK I find that I don't need it. And for the purposes of stacking as many unique negative effects on the target as possible (before a heavy), it's nice to have an almost guaranteed source of Minor Defile, not to mention the set's specific Disease DOT, without having to waste a weapon glyph on it.
So...what's the actual build?
From a stam sorc perspective, there are no other competitive builds other than the meta. If I don’t run three dots good dks or magdens are unkillable and they don’t even rely on these builds to do the same or more damage
That being said dw and staff set up is horrendous
not ture. bowsorc is a hidden gem. i destroy dks and wardens with light attacks on bowsorc.

It's an MMO, it takes skill and experience to be good at anything challenging in an MMOrpg, as well as grinding for the best in slot gear to help increase your chances and just make it overall easier, I've played mostly pvp to level my character from 1 to 50 and yeah you get smacked occasionally but I saw my power increase as I got better, faster and more comfortable
Wrong. It takes minimum experience and minimum skill to be good at the current game. Old eso was far more skill and experienced based but zos didnt want that and removed animation canceling for pros
@@Ju-Peter667 "minimum" skill, ok, put a fairly new MMO player in battlegrounds and show me them doing "good". Sure it may be easier, but it's still not easy, there's too many numbers to take into account to call it that.
Thing about meta tho is... skill is still involved if you think about it. If you have everyone running meta well at that point who ever kills the other person clearly establishes more skill than the other lol
i dont think this is really the only meta playstyle right now. and purges do exist
Ive pvped for like 20hrs now and I can say every bot runs vateshran masters combo. Its like back when proc started and every nb used viper and velindreth. Bots will be bots and people who need this mad proc are bots anyways
I'm relatively new- on my third month of sub now and really taking to BG's . From my perspective at least the most frustrating players I've encountered are running ?Mag?Arcanists stacking dots and sitting behind absurd damage shields.
I'm sure my MMR is still low / mid but it's disheartening trying to get into the game and seeing one class go 40 kills 0 deaths. I know it's a new class and if I didn't have a friend who's been playing since beta to explain builds and their counters I would have left the game after the first month

Make the champ points give a 15% damage boost when you have all 4 choices in damage and healing gets a heal buff and so on

Been running vate ice with oblivions foe, masters flame staff and draugrkin on my necro and it kinda slaps tbh
Sounds OP, if I were you I would test dropping the masters staff and trying to use malacaths. Because malacaths is a flat damage modifiers it will buff the amount of bonus damage Draugrkin gives you too lol. Malacaths is cracked on the Draugrkin/vate staff Necro. Also how are you sustaining on your build without wretched xD

If im being frank, I think this set up is a good entry level build for alot of people and a strong option. But in my experience its not over powered....and i can explain why i think this.
To me this setup is a dueling setup and not a true 1vX setup. I tried the dragons appetite marselock cheese on dk and for fighting out numbered i did not find it nearly as strong as alternatives. So the whole basis of dragons appetite is for it to heal you ypu need to have DoTs up and active. So what happrns when 3 people jump you? You swap to ypur back bar, turtle down, and block cast heals. With three or four people hitting me its going to be very very hard to actually keep enough offensive pressure up for dragons appetite to be an actual defensive set so at this point i have almost all offensive sets with no defense.
Compare that to lets say, a different stam dk build. Say you run a traditional stam dk with daedrick trickery and bloodspawn. Those defensive buffs will be there even when you turtle on your back bar and youre also going to get ult back faster, which if youre using corrosive is going to be your defenses and also your sustain as well. On my DK inuse bloodspawn 5pc daedrick teickery, back bsr vatesgran 2h seord and front bar BrP dw. So wuick cloak gives me major evasion making me take 20% less damage aoe and also an extra 6% flat mitigation for brp. Vate 2h and sea serpents give me 750 weapon and spell damage which boost damage and healing, combine that with trickery buffs like major mending, major vitality and major protection and now you have a build that does tons of damage, has great heals and has great mitigation.
So when i see dks running master dw and the vateshran staff to me thats a zergling build not a 1vX build. Thats a build you run if youre running with a zerg or an orgabized group and a healer.
Brah I’m still trying to get away with BsW, Daedric, BS and markyn lol
I think the point, though is that each ingredient in this proc sandwich is not just overtuned, it's toxic. Zaan is overtuned, but you can break the tether Maarselok is just broken. I use Maarselok myself and it's just NASTY. Vateshran Destro likewise needs a heavy nerf. Of course there are sets that are more deadly in the hands of good players, but Epic's point is that a meta of average players running round with these carry sets gets old fast.
It's a good time to be a Bow Ganker cuz the one thing these zerglings running Maarselok etc don't have is restraint, or high resistances.
Kill them while they're fully committed, from a distance, with the deadliest combo of all.
So yes, there is some counterplay. But it's still an undesirable meta

To fix the problem, they need to do a few things in my opinion.
1. Nerf undeath to 10% (so you cannot infinitely stack tons of massive damage reductions on high health setups) This allieviates the issue of people not dying and having stupid levels of damage and healing.
2. Nerf crit healing and crit damage via battle spirit to 90% cap. Crit is currently far too effective over everything else and crit values should be less.
3. Nerf vateshran and Masters dual wield. It needs to happen they are both just pretty broken on every level. Basically free massive pressure for no effort.
4. Watch on PTS and adjust as needed for any outlier sets

Only solution I see is buff the classes with shit healing like my baby sorcerer so they can be on par wit other classes and make purge cost less. Maras is in a balance spot rn and if they revert the Changes back to counter this masters vat meta then u might aswell bring back the Blackwood meta with 2 direct damage procs. Healing is incredibly strong rn on every class besides sorcs and necros ig and with sets like dragons appetite that give u a free burst heal from pressure and mythics like pale order i don’t see a way out of this one. I would personally like to see a buff to snake in the stars set I would love to use it in duels with my sorc maybe nerf the oblivion damage a little not sure and have it on 8 seconds instead of 4.
I think PvP is just horrible to get into, I think its just way to much work to put in just to have a chance and the rewards are trash. If you look at other popular PvP games you can jump in with any equipment or knowledge and still have a good time. It just seems that being good at PvP has nothing to with skill but just how fast you can chase the META its incredibly tedious. If you have a full time job and other commitments its just not possible to constantly grind every update. At least PvE requirements are pretty low for 99.5% of content. The PvP needs a complete overhaul.
Eso PvP is surely not good atm but i can understand from what u said you clearly have very little idea about the game and its pvp, nothing you said is remotly true. But as i said it went down hill over the years

I agree, especially in this meta. I just started getting heavy into PvP a little after update 35. So I essentially had to figure out how to kill tanks. I do great in low MMR BGs, but as soon as I queue in with the sweats I get maarseloked or DKed to death too much to have fun.

Basically master's and vateshran is a "meta" for couple patches now. I tried it once and then I realized it's kinda boring. And I prefer playing other way which I did all this time.
Recently though I revived this combo on my stam arcanist. Because everybody gangsta until your arcanist doing no damage and is absolute dog and you have to do something with it. In my case it was using this build on that char. And honestly after not playing it for ages I have to say on arcanist it feels right. Meanwhile I can play other chars with my usual builds and have the best from both worlds - play the fun way and also having fair share of fun of playing meta arcanist.

They should just make purge accessible to more people. It's cost is ridiculous to the point that it's not even worth using outside of large scale cyrodil combat.

I enjoy your videos. I also feel there is no problem with ESO or PvP. There is literally millions of ways to set a toon up and many combinations of skills. Stop worrying about the balance. And start just crushing bones. It will work for a time and get changed later. Let it. Come up with new ways to crush bones. And have fun. It's a game not a job. Just have fun
yeah it's literally not possible to have fun unless you're zerging with 30 ppl off meta, like you are literally just hindering yourself so unless you're a masochist it literally isn't fun

The meta is just pretty much people who have builds that have complete, total permanent invincibility that do the same amount of damage as everyone else at no cost to survivability. No rewards for most straight damage builds or anything with complexity.
That's literally the whole idea for any pvp build. Do as much damage as possible without dying, if you don't build that why then it's not a very good pvp build
@@mattyquinn9174 You are missing the point entirely. You should not be able to build into being just fully unkillable. Since the dawn of MMOs, the idea has always been an extremely high defensive character shouldn't have the same amount of damage or better than a glass cannon type. It makes for a really boring stall game.
@@drewperez7924 the issue isn't being tanky and doing damage, thats been a thing since like one tamriel the better the player the more survivable they are, the issue is the way the games gone the only way you can really kill these meta builds is with dot pressure...which is literally the meta build
@@Acooky. I mean, I've got major and minor breach on them, I've got both defiles up, burning, dots, etc, along with other effects and spells on the way. I just don't see these people being killable.

Was In mournhold yesterday and saw a duel with 2 deathknights. It was 5 minutes long and the most boring thing I've ever seen. I hate this new meta.

I run this set up with Way of Fire on high health dk... It's pretty ugly. You don't have to do much but spam whatever you want and stun. The gear does the rest. Pretty lazy pvping
i like the coming of hybrid builds but this is such an unispired dogshit brainded meta.
