@@the_wolf234 the song compares the short freedom of the greeks during the revolution to the 400 years of slavery with 40 years of slaverya nd 1 hour of freedom
The quote : better one hour of freedom than 40 years slavery shows a lot of things for Greek people. Love you Hellas i will give my life for you any time you'll ask me🇬🇷
Well, personally I think it has the potential to mean more with just the addition of one word twice. To start, One hour of freedom vs. One hour of slavery and prison, easily the freedom. 40 years of slavery and prison vs. One hour of freedom? Easy choice to make, go with the freedom. However, what happens if we add the word "more?" Well, One more hour of freedom vs. 40 more years of slavery and prison, suggesting that either you have one more hour left to live, but it's in freedom or 40 more years left to live, but they're in slavery and prison. You may want to live for 40 more years, but with such torture, saying that we'd have to go with the freedom since we so dearly needed just seems to resonate. But, the song has good lyricism anyway. Just my take nobody asked for.
@@xiphactinusaudax1045 in Greek 400 years don’t go well the song so they instead said 40 years. You are not Greek so you couldn’t understand but imagine in the lyrics that 40 years are symbolic and mean 400 years

@Macedonia is Greece!!! The Arvanites in Greece originated from Albanian settlers who moved south at different times between the 13th and 16th centuries from areas of what is now southern Albania. Source: Ducellier (1994) The reasons for this migration are not entirely clear and may be multiple. In many cases, the Arvanites were invited by the Byzantine and Latin rulers of the time. They were employed to resettle areas that had been largely depopulated by wars, epidemics and other reasons, and they were employed as soldiers. Some later movements would also have been motivated to escape Islamization after the Ottoman conquest. @Macedonia is Greece!!! The name Arvanites and its equivalents are used today both in Greek ( Αρβανίτες , singular form Αρβανίτης , feminine Αρβανίτισσα ) and in Arvanitika itself (Arbëreshë or Arbërorë). In standard Albanian, all three names are used: Arvanitë, Arbëreshë or Arbërorë. The name Arvanites and its equivalents can be traced back to an ancient ethnonym used in Greek to refer to Albanians. In Albanian, the self-designation Arbëror , which is still used by Arvanites and Arbëreshë from Italy, had been exchanged for the new name Shqiptarë since the 17th century, an innovation that was not shared by the Albanian-speaking migrant communities of southern Greece. The alternative exonym Albanian may finally be etymologically related, but is of less clear origin (see Albania (toponym) . It was probably confused with "Arbanitai" at some stage because of the phonological similarity. In later Byzantine usage, the terms "Arbanitai" and "Albanoi", with a range of variants, were used interchangeably, while sometimes the same groups were also called by the classical Illyrian names. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, Alvani (Albanian) was used mainly in formal registers and Arvanites (Αρβανίτες) in the more popular Greek speech, but both were used indiscriminately for Muslim and Christian Albanians inside and outside Greece. During the twentieth century, it became customary to use only Αλβανοί for the Albanian people, and only Αρβανίτες for the Greek-Arvanites, thus emphasizing the national separation between the two groups. If you reach facts writen by Ali Pashas and his son Veli Pasha (who were Albanians from Tepeleni) you are going to read that they refer to Souliotes as Greeks. Botzaris surname has italian root and it comes from "bozza" The real surname of Tzavelas fara was Papazachos and they came from Paramythia Kolokotronis wasn't even Arvanites. Albanians say that Arvanites are Albanians because they were speaking a mix of Albanian,Turkish and Greek but language is different with nationality . Arvanites are like the Greeks from Kappadokia. The Kappadokia's Greek somehow they stopped speaking Greeks and they were only speaking turkish but that doesn't mean that they were Turks . Besides ,the Turks made the Greeks of Kappadokia to leave their land even of they were speaking only Turkish . So ,what are you saying about Arvanites? They are Greeks from ancient times till now. Do you now that when most the Arvanites left Greece at 16th or 17 century and they went to Italy ,they become parts of the Greek association and not at the albanian( arberësh) association of Italy? You have to study a bit Useful tips: Alexeiada book of Anna Komnini- byzantium princess Geonews-the Arvanites And if you don't believe this ,then you can: 1.Read the manuscripts of Ali Pasha and Veli Pasha 2.Make the etymology of the word Arvanites and Arvanon 3.Find the roots of the names Thank you😊
@@lagrece For those who do not know this tribe (the Molossians), who were they, what territory did they occupy and how were they considered by the ancient authors ? Let us stop for a moment to know more about the tribe of the Molossians from which the mother of Alexander the Great came. To make it simple, the tribe of Molossians is in Epirus somewhere in the region of Chamerie on the back of Thesprotians who dominated the coastal part. In addition to this, the Kaons who were in the south of present-day Albania and who constituted three of the great tribes of Epirus. Historically, tribes like the Molossians or others who composed Epirus like the Kaons, the Thesprotians, the Paraue, the Antintans and others, are historically linked to the Illyrian (🇦🇱) culture or to a part of it. As Thucydides tells us about the events of the Peloponnesian War that involved both actually in reality Illyrians and Illyria itself, these tribes were commonly considered barbarian (non-Greek) tribes. Thucydides: - "Among the barbarians there were about 1,000 Kaons who ruled without a king. Along with the Kaons, the Thesprotians also participated and were also ruled without a king. There were also the MOLOSSIANS, the Atintants and the Paraues. ( HISTORY OF THE PELOPONNESIAN WAR ) All these tribes, mentioned by the historian of Athenian origin Thucydides for their participation in the famous Peloponnesian war in the 5th century B.C., are considered as barbarians, therefore not Greek! ( Thucydides II, 80- IV, 126 ) The Kaons, the Thesprotians of Chamerie, the Arintans and the Parauets constitute the backbone of what one called Epirus. Among them are of course the Molossians where are the roots of the family of the mother of Alexander the Great ! And Thucydides is not the only source which defines the Epirotes as non-Greeks. There are many others! According to the encyclopedia Basic Antiquity, composed of 86 volumes... Pauly Wissowa the Real "Encyclopedia Alterumswissenschaft" says that the Epirotes are of Illyrian origin 🇦🇱 and have strong links with the population of southern Italy! More concise on the issue, the only Nobel Prize in history 🎓 is none other than Theodor Mommsen author of the cycle "Corpus of Antiquity inscriptions" which says that: - "the brave Epirotes, the Albanians 🇦🇱 of antiquity supported with traditional loyalty the young and brave Pyrrhus or "the Eagle" as they called him " . Let us point out on this subject that the Albanians name themselves "Shqiptar", that is to say "sons or children of the eagle". The soldiers of Pyrrhus (3rd century BC / Epirote King), called their King "the Eagle" and that the latter retroqued them one day that they were his "children", so the Albanians are the children of the Eagle ... "Shqiptar = child of the Eagle .... " . (Pyrrhus was the cousin of Alexander the Great, of the Molossian tribe and himself an ambitious conqueror, Pyrrhus is one of the most formidable adversaries of the early days of ancient Rome). Lorenzo Braccesi (Professor of Greek History at the University of Venice, Italy, in 1986) tells us: - "Olympias was originally from Epirus, on the part of the father who was king of Epirus, on the part of the mother also and that Illyrian blood 🇦🇱 circulated in the family, there is no doubt. " ( 9,01- 9,15 . The true story of Alexander the great ... - Gjurmë Shqiptare ) That the Epirotes are or are not Illyrians is a discussion that, from an archaeological point of view, is resolved. The Epirotes and the Illyrians have the same culture, if we consider the Iron Age, the use of tombs, fortifications with several rows of walls, their material culture, the shape of the pots or the ornaments which are identical to those of Korça (current Albania) and religion. Not only ancient authors like Thucydides, Strabo and others have called the Epirotic tribes barbarians (non-Greek) but also later serious publications based on documents and archaeological findings point out the same thing. The Molosses, were one of the Illyrian tribes of Epirus from where came the mother of Alexander the Great Olympias daughter of the king and the sister . The Molosses, were one of the Illyrian tribes of Epirus from where came the mother of Alexander the Great Olympias daughter of the king and sister of another well known Illyrian prince "Alexander the Molossus".
@@lagrece The name Eperios, Epeiros is explained by the Albanian ( Pelasgians ) : Epëri means " what is above, on top, beyond " (of Greece) . Homer knows only that of Thesprotia, name which replaced that of Pelasgia (🇦🇱) ! Source = Herodotus II, 56. Indeed according to the ancient authors Epirus was, with Pelasgiotide🇦🇱, the Argos Pelasgians 🇦🇱 of Homer (Thessaly) and Arcadia, one of the most important fiefs of the Pelasgians ! It is precisely in Dodona, in Thesprotia, that the latter have their famous sanctuary dedicated to "Zeus Dodonean and Pelasgians". Here is the prayer that Achilles addresses to Zeus (Iliad, XVI 234 to 237) Zeus Dodonean, distant god, Pelasgian 🇦🇱 , who reigns on Dodone, in this rough country of the Selloi, your prophets with the never washed feet, who lie on the ground! You did not refuse to hear me a short time ago and to overwhelm, to honor me, the Achaeans " . This passage, one of the most important and the most explicit of the Homeric poems (Passed UNREALIZED or UNDER SILENCE by most authors!), is doubly significant. First of all Homer implicitly recognizes the Pelasgians origin of Achilles that Zeus god of the Pelasgians, defends at the expense of the Achaeans. Then Homer expresses clearly the Pelasgian origin of the religion which will become, with some exceptions, that of the Greeks. We have already seen, (at the top of this commentary) that the name of Achilles can be explained thanks to the current Albanian language (Pelasgians) Indeed I have already given (see Mathieu aref), the explanation of the Epirote name of Achilles " Aspeitos / Aspeit ", word which derives radical " A'Shpeit " meaning " the fast one " in the language of the Pelasgians (🇦🇱) and a fortiori in the Albanian language . The Greeks explained its name by "unspeakable, immense" ( cf. Plutarch Pyrrhos I, 3 -Aristotle, fr.566 R ) . This Greek interpretation hardly corresponds to the epithets used by Homer to qualify Achilles. It is the same for the other (Greek) name of Achilles (Akiléüs, meaning "without lips" in Greek). This last name is also explained, in Albanian " Aq i lehtë / Ak i le,us " ( the so light ) . Whether we turn or turn over the problem the Albanian language is infallible. In the two poems of Homer (Iliad and Odyssey) Mathieu Aref has noted 58 quotations concerning Achilles, 18 of which relate to the notion of speed ("Achilles the swift", Achilles with light, tireless or agile feet"), the notion of "divine" collects 11, then 25 for that concerning his "lineage" (the Eacid, the Peleid, the son of Peleus) and finally 4 for various other epithets It is clear that this Eacid is not only fast but also divine! This confirms completely his Pelasgians origin: his name, his religion and his place in the divine hierarchy (son of the goddess Thetis whose name, also Pelasgians, means Sea, Ocean! ) . Thetis / Deti (in Albanian) = the sea, ocean etc ... Here is what Pultarch says however ( Life of Pyrrhos, 1/3 ) : - From there (Sanctuary of Dodone in the country of the Molosses, kingdom of his son, Neoptolemos) came that Achilles received divine honors in Epirus, where he was called in the language of the country Aspetos ". Pultarch recognizes implicitly that the inhabitants of the country of Molosses and Thesprotes or that, a fortiori, of Dodone spoke another language than GREEK the "language of the country", he says!

Exactly

@Macedonia is Greece!!! The Arvanites in Greece originated from Albanian settlers who moved south at different times between the 13th and 16th centuries from areas of what is now southern Albania.
Source: Ducellier (1994)
The reasons for this migration are not entirely clear and may be multiple.
The main waves of migration to southern Greece began around 1300, peaked during the 14th century, and ended around 1600.
Source: Troupis, Theodore K. Σκαλίζοντας τις ρίζες μας. Σέρβου. p. 1036. Etc.
The Arvanites first reached Thessaly, then Attica and finally the Peloponnese.
Source: Biris gives an estimated figure of 18200 Arvanites who were settled in southern Greece between 1350 and 1418.
The poem "Thourios" by the 18th century poet and Greek national hero Rigas Feraios included an appeal to the Arvanites, as well as to other Orthodox Christian peoples living in the general area of Greece at that time, to rebel against Ottoman rule.
Indeed, during the Greek War of Independence, many Arvanites played an important role in fighting on the Greek side against the Ottomans, often as Greek national heroes.
With the formation of modern nations and nation-states in the Balkans, the Arvanites are now considered an integral part of the Greek nation.
In 1899, leading representatives of the Arvanites in Greece, including descendants of the independence heroes, issued a manifesto calling on their Albanian compatriots outside Greece to join in the creation of a common Albanian-Greek state.
Source: first published in Ελληνισμός , Athens 1899, 195-202. Quoted in Gkikas 1978: 7-9.
During the twentieth century, after the establishment of the Albanian nation-state, Arvanites in Greece came to disassociate themselves much more strongly from Albanians, emphasizing instead their national self-identification as Greeks. At the same time, it has been suggested that many Arvanites in earlier decades maintained a position of assimilation...

...leading to a gradual loss of their traditional language and a shift of the younger generation to Greek.
At times, especially during the nationalist regime of August 4 under Ioannis Metaxas from 1936-1941, Greek public institutions followed a policy of active discouragement and repression of the use of Arvanitika.
Source: GHM (1995), Trudgill / Tzavaras (1977). See also Tsitsipis (1981), Botsi (2003).
In the decades following World War II and the Greek Civil War, many Arvanites were pressured to abandon Arvanitika in favor of monolingualism in the national language, and in particular the archaic Katharevousa which remained the official variant of Greek until 1976. This tendency was widespread mainly during the Greek military junta of 1967-1974.

They were employed to resettle areas that had been largely depopulated by wars, epidemics and other reasons, and they were employed as soldiers.

Since Arvanitika is almost exclusively a spoken language, Arvanites also have no practical affiliation with the standard Albanian language used in Albania, as they do not use this form in writing or in the media. The question of linguistic proximity or distance between Arvanitika and Albanian has come to the forefront especially since the early 1990s, when a large number of Albanian immigrants began to enter Greece and came into contact with the local Arvanite communities.

Source: John Van Antwerp (1994). The late medieval Balkans: a critical study from the late twelfth century to the Ottoman conquest. University of Michigan Press.

It originally referred to the inhabitants of this region Arvanon (Άρβανον) or Arvana (Άρβανα)...
Source: Michael Attaliates , History 297 mentions "Arbanitai" as part of a mercenary army (c.1085); Anna Comnena , Alexiad VI: 7/7 and XIII 5 / 1-2 mentions a region or city called Arbanon or Arbana, and "Arbanitai" as its inhabitants (1148). See also Vranousi (1970) and Ducellier (1968).
...and then to all Albanian speakers.
There is some uncertainty insofar as the term Arvanites also includes the small remaining Christian Albanian-speaking population groups in Epirus and western Macedonia. Unlike the southern Arvanites, these speakers would use the name Shqiptarë both for themselves and for the Albanian nationals...

As it has ti do with Eptanisa you have to know that the British had army by Arvanites -not Albanians- in order to ensure their presence in the islands.
Botzaris surname has italian root and it comes from "bozza"
The real surname of Tzavelas fara was Papazachos and they came from Paramythia
Kolokotronis wasn't even Arvanites.
You have to study a bit
Useful tips:
Alexeiada book of Anna Komnini- byzantium princess
Geonews-the Arvanites
And if you don't believe this ,then you can:
1.Read the manuscripts of Ali Pasha and Veli Pasha
2.Make the etymology of the word Arvanites and Arvanon
3.Find the roots of the names
Thank you😊
@@lagrece For those who do not know this tribe (the Molossians), who were they, what territory did they occupy and how were they considered by the ancient authors ?
( HISTORY OF THE PELOPONNESIAN WAR )
All these tribes, mentioned by the historian of Athenian origin Thucydides for their participation in the famous Peloponnesian war in the 5th century B.C., are considered as barbarians, therefore not Greek!
( Thucydides II, 80- IV, 126 )
The Kaons, the Thesprotians of Chamerie, the Arintans and the Parauets constitute the backbone of what one called Epirus.
"Shqiptar = child of the Eagle .... " .
(Pyrrhus was the cousin of Alexander the Great, of the Molossian tribe and himself an ambitious conqueror, Pyrrhus is one of the most formidable adversaries of the early days of ancient Rome).
Lorenzo Braccesi (Professor of Greek History at the University of Venice, Italy, in 1986) tells us:
- "Olympias was originally from Epirus, on the part of the father who was king of Epirus, on the part of the mother also and that Illyrian blood 🇦🇱 circulated in the family, there is no doubt. "
( 9,01- 9,15 . The true story of Alexander the great ... - Gjurmë Shqiptare )
That the Epirotes are or are not Illyrians is a discussion that, from an archaeological point of view, is resolved.
Here is the prayer that Achilles addresses to Zeus (Iliad, XVI 234 to 237)
Zeus Dodonean, distant god, Pelasgian 🇦🇱 , who reigns on Dodone, in this rough country of the Selloi, your prophets with the never washed feet, who lie on the ground!
We have already seen, (at the top of this commentary) that the name of Achilles can be explained thanks to the current Albanian language (Pelasgians)
Indeed I have already given (see Mathieu aref), the explanation of the Epirote name of Achilles " Aspeitos / Aspeit ", word which derives radical " A'Shpeit " meaning " the fast one " in the language of the Pelasgians (🇦🇱) and a fortiori in the Albanian language .
In the two poems of Homer (Iliad and Odyssey) Mathieu Aref has noted 58 quotations concerning Achilles, 18 of which relate to the notion of speed ("Achilles the swift", Achilles with light, tireless or agile feet"), the notion of "divine" collects 11, then 25 for that concerning his "lineage" (the Eacid, the Peleid, the son of Peleus) and finally 4 for various other epithets
It is clear that this Eacid is not only fast but also divine!
This confirms completely his Pelasgians origin: his name, his religion and his place in the divine hierarchy (son of the goddess Thetis whose name, also Pelasgians, means Sea, Ocean! ) .
Thetis / Deti (in Albanian) = the sea, ocean etc ...
Here is what Pultarch says however ( Life of Pyrrhos, 1/3 ) :
- From there (Sanctuary of Dodone in the country of the Molosses, kingdom of his son, Neoptolemos) came that Achilles received divine honors in Epirus, where he was called in the language of the country Aspetos ".
Pultarch recognizes implicitly that the inhabitants of the country of Molosses and Thesprotes or that, a fortiori, of Dodone spoke another language than GREEK the "language of the country", he says!
