Greece was one of the first countries of balkan which won the Independence from ottomans, and the cristians albanians were the best alleats. Albanias were who lost mostly because we were divided in three religions north (like me who are mostly catholic), south orthodox, center and all Kosovo muslims. We were diveded in religion and we lost most of our etnic territories. ps. Greece in terms of geopolitc make something very good assorbed all other entnies, often with force and orthodoxy. In fact until today nationalist greeks claim greek evrything which have in some way a relation with orthodox, but historicly is a total nonsense.

Greece is such a wonderful place with tons of heritage and an incredible history. I've always admired a good underdog story, and several times in history Greece has been the underdog and come out on top. I fully intend to visit Greece (as well as places with a sizeable amount of Greek history, such as Istanbul for the Hagia Sophia and Ravenna for the San Vitale Basilica). There's even times where my nation and Greece have fought together. Lots of love to Ελλάδα from Νέα Ζηλανδία.

It'd be Constantinople, for both the Hagia Sophia and old Imperial district, Kallipolis, as it is where the ANZAC fought in the First World War, and thus an important part of our history, and Antiocheia as it is an important Christian city. If I were to have a proper trip to the Eastern Mediterranean, it would be spent predominantly in Greece, as I would like to see Thessaloniki, Messolonghi, Athens, and Crete, as well as the Ruins of Pella, Sparta, and Corinth.

@Bjorn Well by the time the ottomans conquered Byzantium, France was in a bad shape. Very big part of todays France was split into smal duchies and they had no chance against the ottomans. Even if they did have a chance protecting the balkans was not in their interest. The only major power at the time that could have done something was Austria but i doubt they would have had much success

Greece was one of the first countries of balkan which won the Independence from ottomans, and the cristians albanians were the best alleats. Albanias were who lost mostly because we were divided in three religions north (like me who are mostly catholic), south orthodox, center and all Kosovo muslims. We were diveded in religion and we lost most of our etnic territories.
ps. Greece in terms of geopolitc make something very good assorbed all other entnies, often with force and orthodoxy. In fact until today nationalist greeks claim greek evrything which have in some way a relation with orthodox, but historicly is a total nonsense.

Greece is such a wonderful place with tons of heritage and an incredible history. I've always admired a good underdog story, and several times in history Greece has been the underdog and come out on top. I fully intend to visit Greece (as well as places with a sizeable amount of Greek history, such as Istanbul for the Hagia Sophia and Ravenna for the San Vitale Basilica). There's even times where my nation and Greece have fought together. Lots of love to Ελλάδα from Νέα Ζηλανδία.

It'd be Constantinople, for both the Hagia Sophia and old Imperial district, Kallipolis, as it is where the ANZAC fought in the First World War, and thus an important part of our history, and Antiocheia as it is an important Christian city. If I were to have a proper trip to the Eastern Mediterranean, it would be spent predominantly in Greece, as I would like to see Thessaloniki, Messolonghi, Athens, and Crete, as well as the Ruins of Pella, Sparta, and Corinth.

@Bjorn Well by the time the ottomans conquered Byzantium, France was in a bad shape. Very big part of todays France was split into smal duchies and they had no chance against the ottomans. Even if they did have a chance protecting the balkans was not in their interest. The only major power at the time that could have done something was Austria but i doubt they would have had much success

@@Universal.. Souliotes were different from Arvanites and Kolokotronis and Bouboulina were not Arvanites. Souliotes were from Northern Peloponnese like Kolokotronis and Bouboulina was from the Cyclades islands so if you don't know history don't spam your comments everywhere
