Welcome Dereck.Your reaction about Leo Ferré's song gave me chills, 'cause Léo is one of my favourite singers composers.Try to find other texts about him and share world wide.I can suggest you another one in a completly different mood the title is:"Une robe de cuir".When I was young this song distroyed a lot of relationships because it was "hot" and often misunderstood by our girlfriends.
Wow quite impress that you have this song, not a particularly fun one. Very touching to see the impact it has on a non french speaker, the emotions goes over any language I guess. A few years back I was not a real fan of Ferré. Then I bought a cd (2 discs) of his best songs and gradually I got found of him. All lot of his work is poems brought to life with music. Don’t worry all his songs are not this depressing. Belgium had Brel, France had Ferré !🙂 You should listen to «Je veux être un homme heureux» (I want to be a happy man - literal translation) by William Sheller.

With time
Leo Ferré
With time
With time, goes, everything goes
We forget the face and we forget the voice
The heart, when its beating more, it's not worth going
Look further, you have to let it go and that's fine
With time
With time, goes, everything goes
The other we adored, that we were looking for in the rain
The other that we guessed at the bend of a glance
Between the words, between the lines and under the make-up
Of a made-up oath that is going to make its night
With time everything fades away
With time
With time, goes, everything goes
Even the nicest memories, that, you have one of those faces
At the gallery, I rummage in the rays of death
Saturday night when tenderness goes by itself
With time
With time, goes, everything goes
The other who we believed for a cold, for nothing
The other to whom we gave wind and jewelry
For whom one would have sold his soul for a few pennies
Before what, we trained like dogs drag
With time, go, everything is fine
With time
With time, goes, everything goes
We forget the passions and we forget the voices
Who whispered to you the words of the poor people
Don't come home too late, above all don't catch a cold
With time
With time, goes, everything goes
And we feel whitewashed like a tired horse
And we feel frozen in a bed of chance
And we feel all alone maybe but easy
And you feel cheated by the wasted years, so really
Over time we no longer like

One of the best! This song is so beautiful, made me cry everytime. Listen "c' est extra", "Les anarchistes", "ni dieux ni maître", Coco... You have a world to discover. 😘
Joe l'angoisse.j'adore mais c'est trop triste 😢😢😢❤❤❤❤
Tes une bonne personne Dereck belle analyse
Another great poet singer is jean Ferrat. I would love to see a reaction from him
Welcome Dereck.Your reaction about Leo Ferré's song gave me chills, 'cause Léo is one of my favourite singers composers.Try to find other texts about him and share world wide.I can suggest you another one in a completly different mood the title is:"Une robe de cuir".When I was young this song distroyed a lot of relationships because it was "hot" and often misunderstood by our girlfriends.
ah... that song's a masterpiece & always makes me emotional & gives me goosebumps. I particularly like the cover by Isabelle Boulay, a Canadian singer
Derek est extraordinairement sensible aux génies français. C'est remarquable et merci de partager cette inclinaison qui fait chaud au coeur.
You gotta play this song at 4am when you come back from dancing and drinkin all night. At your age it's no biggie!
excellent choix!
Everybody watching this video cried with you, Derek, and it's beautiful.
But even that will disapear.
I just said "Oh Putain!"... FINALLY ! "Les anarchistes" is a good one from him too.
Super belle chanson très triste
juste MERCI !!!! :)
Top 10 french songs in history. Leo wasn't a singer he was a poet who never be forgotten
Thaaaaaank youuuuuuu dereck 🥺👍
Try "c'est extra" Leo Ferré...
It s a very poetic song
But also a sensual song. Léo Ferré also refers to « Night in white satin » by the Moody Blues
Tu vois Léo, Avec le temps y'a encore des p'tits gars qui aiment toujours le Ferré de génie
Merci Dereck pour ta sensibilité...
Try the version of Dalida
I got tears so deep this song
Oh god this is a big one … merci 🙏🌹🕊
The most beautiful song in the worjd, ever. If melody is brilliant, the lyrics are so typical french poesy, you can t enjoy it without understand.
Wow quite impress that you have this song, not a particularly fun one. Very touching to see the impact it has on a non french speaker, the emotions goes over any
language I guess. A few years back I was not a real fan of Ferré. Then I bought a cd (2 discs) of his best songs and gradually I got found of him. All lot of his work
is poems brought to life with music. Don’t worry all his songs are not this depressing. Belgium had Brel, France had Ferré !🙂
You should listen to «Je veux être un homme heureux» (I want to be a happy man - literal translation) by William Sheller.
Great poetry , the voice follows and you submit
Anyone who wants to become a singer should hear this.
Léo Ferré c était de la poésie en chanson
This is one of my favorite songs along with Je suis malade by Lara Fabian and Caruso by Luciano Pavarotti
Best song ever.
Also, Mari Trini made an exceptional cover. Listen her Dereck, she sings so good in French!
