Pauvre" can be translated as someone who has little money but also as someone who is uneducated. a multitude of beautiful, thought-provoking songs. "C'est extra" , La solitude,

I’m French Canadian and you’re French is very good. You’re right that pauvre literally means poor. But like in every language, there are expressions or other meanings in different context. So the expression « pauvre gens » can mean people to which something bad happened, or just ordinary people in a sad poetic kind of way. Same as if someone tells you he lost a quarter or his rank in a waiting line and you answer sarcastically « poor you » , you’re not calling the person poor.

    Great great singer ever !
About your question, pauvre is of course poor, but also simple people, humble people, little people, and ordinary is also a good translation, not in the way, without interest, but people without importance for the rich or intellectuals people
    A very deep song
Good pronunciation for his name 👌

It is certainly one of the most iconic French songs of all time. It reflects perfectly this feeling of "dead heart" or "the feeling of love lost forever" when you have sacrificed everything for someone, even your own dignity, and that person has abandoned you and left you alone in front of your own mirror. This song could be the logical continuation of Jacques Brel's song "Ne me quitte pas" ...
There is a very beautiful and touching rendition of "Avec le temps" by Patricia Kaas and you can find it if you know where to look for it. Hint: I added English subtitles 😉.

    Hello Uncle D, 🌴🌞
He was one of my dear late mom's favorite singers (a true poet), and it was also her favorite song.
Yes, this song can make you shed tears when you've lost someone close, no doubt. Did I do it? …No comment.
We hold on tightly to things that, inevitably, we end up forgetting. That's the ultimate paradox of our existence, captured and so magnificently put into poetry by one of our greatest contemporary poets.
And yes, Frenchmen are definitively fatalists. 😊
    Peace, folks. ☮👈😎

One of the most classic French song. It has been covered many times. One of my favorite is Dalida's one. The tragic side of the song suits her well. Even Céline Dion sang it live after the death of her husband.
Concerning the meaning of "pauvre", it's used here as you would say : "Oh these poor people, I feel sad for them".

que dire: hors mis merci, de m'avoir fait re-écouté Ferreé. Maintenant que l'eau à coulé sous le pont de ma vie, je comprends mieux ces paroles. Pour "ces pauvres gens" en fait cela dépend du sens de la Phrase si tu parles d'argent c'est " poor peoople" si tu ne parles pas d'argent c'est " ordinary people". Dans ce Poéme Léo Ferré par de gens ordinaire de personne qui ont une vie simple.
what can I say: except thank you for making me listen to shoe again. Now that the water has flowed under the bridge of my life, I understand these words better. For "these poor people" in fact it depends on the meaning of the Phrase if you talk about money it's "poor people" if you don't talk about money it's "ordinary people". In this Leo Ferré Poem by ordinary people who have a simple life.

“Pauvre” in French mean poor, penniless, deprived, but at the same time is used to designate people who are materially unfortunate, of course, but also spiritually, or emotionally, in misfortune, and is sometimes used with condescension. It is not uncommon in my region to hear old men and women say "ma pauve", "mon pauvre", like that in conversation, even when there is no question of misfortune. It's almost a term of endearment in this case.

    Cher Oncle D.
    Merci à vous.
    Dear Uncle D.
Thank you very much for this video ( a song I recommended somewhere, I think). You're absolutely right, a very deep, very real song. This version isn't the most melodic, lyrical, but it's the truest, the one he sang in his last years, and all the more gripping to the heart. It's one of the greatest and most beautiful classics of French chanson. Thank you for your interest.
Yes, you pronounced his name correctly, Léo Ferré. And your French is much better than you sometimes seem to think. ^_^
    Thank you very much.
