We need more stories like this. I think how these guys deal with failures, and come back to overcome them are really important. We often tend to think of these guys just excelling at every single thing they do, but we rarely hear about their failures and comebacks.
Respect to him for all the pressure he had while following in dads footsteps. The biggest fear is doing what dad did and not being able to hack it. I grew up in Coronado and know a few dudes I went to high school with whose dads were SEALs on the strand and they ended up becoming the same. My dad wasn't a SEAL but I followed his footsteps in a different Navy program. My instructors knew my dad and the pressure to not get rolled was REAL. To see a legacy dude do as well as him is commendable!
This is why the individuals in DEV Group are the BEST - Courage, Tenacity, Facing of Fear, NEVER GIVING UP!! It takes so much of all these attributes to keep going EVEN after failure..RESPECT!
Mr. Shipley has shed any sort of mediocrity, God has blessed him with a warriors soul. You may agree with me when i say he was born a leader of Men. Who will ever know what volume of leadership he would have carried throughout antiquity.
I have always wondered how do you train for something like this. I feel like the shooting and the physical portion of seal quals is something you can train for, but the diving and swimming portion is just something you either have or you dont.
I keep forgetting how young dude was when he went through this. Imagine accepting death at the bottom of a pool during training at what, 18? 19? years of age? What an animal.
Really enjoying the origins series want more maybe first few deployments trying out for green team his life journey with the teams great stuff and super informative
This is one of the reasons why I think the people in the internet arguing about which unit is better whether it's DEVGRU or Delta or whatever is stupid. Like I bet in Delta they don't do this type of training to the degree that the seals do. At the same time delta might specialize in certain things to a greater degree than seals. Each serve their own function that is needed to accomplish the goal the military has
They don't. Tyler Grey is former Delta and he is on the show NAVY SEALS and he told Shawn Ryan that he could never be a SEAL because he can't float. So he couldn't pass pool comp at BUDS, let alone make it to DEVGRU. All SEALS, Tier 1 or 2 have to pass Pool Comp. Only 1 out of 6 Army SF are combat qualified.

The way DJ speaks just calms my anxiety. Always feel like I'm learning something even if it's simple story telling. Amazing role model.

Does DJ not have a mic in these interviews? It sounds like the interviewer has a mic and DJ doesn’t, makes all of these videos hard to hear
