The countless times on the line I've felt the loaded chamber indicator on top of my XD's slides without completely unholstring...love that feature. You may say...oh...it's just an xd. I carried one for duty and through a lot of trianing for about 17 years with no issues. I also, love their safely features. Thanks for the video guys.
Still so happy and thankful you are back and I pray everything is good. That things keep going well and life is good for you brother. I this for everyone always and all the animals!
These videos meant so much to me before I bought my first handgun , and still great refresh to watch ! The soon to be new , new , and experienced responsible firearm owners thank you gentleman and the fieldcraft team
I'll just say for a guy whose never took a rifle class and I have way too many rifles to not have been to one:( This is gold stuff right here, I need to head over there and get some classes. Thank you for the free video of training!
Isn't checking the orientation of the top round in the magazine before and after chambering a round easier than a press check? It can also be checked in the dark.
I don’t know if it’s “easier,” but it’s definitely an effective method. Both options have downsides: the press check could result in a slightly out of battery rifle and the magazine check doubles the chance of a magazine that isn’t fully seated. I’ve used both over the last 2 decades and I think I prefer the press check slightly more, but I don’t really care which one a person does. I’m just happy when I see someone do some version of a chamber check. Lol
I just insert mag then tap the bottem and tug a little to make sure its seated, then Pull and release the charging handle. Loading shouldn't be complicated.
I’ve seen a lot of people have a bad habit of having their finger on the mag release and accidentally dropping their mag. I’ve done it too, but now I keep my finger right below it on that little wall that surrounds the mag release, got a little piece of grip tape on it and my finger never slips
When I served, the DIs taught us SPORTS... SLAP PULL OBSERVE RELEASE TAP SQUEEZE... pretty much the same technique used on that rifle. I do like your technique, however. Thanks for posting this for both types of weapons. Good stuff.
I’ve been competing for 20 years in pistol and carbine matches. Never once did a press check; never needed to. I guess press checks are just a thing for some folks.
As someone who has spent years in combat zones, there is something very reassuring about doing a press check and seeing that brass in the chamber before the doors open of the ramp comes down.
I was pretty heavy onto USPSA a few years ago and still shoot a few matches per year. Lots of competitive shooters (including high-level guys) do a press check during LAMR. It’s a free step that ensures that your weapon is good to go.
If I went to his class and was told to lock and load without a magazine in the weapon I would be confused I think. Basic US Army range procedure if I recall was: load one magazine with xx rounds. Lock and load and observe your lane. Maybe I forget. I was never taught to load a round from an open bolt unless I was changing magazines. Nothing wrong either way, but isn’t that the point? I didn’t honestly hear a compelling argument from the video. Tbh I ignored the guy with the pistol because I was commenting on the rifle.
What’s funny is this was brand new to me when I took your pistol class recently. I’ve been shooting for 10+ years and was never told load this way. It makes sense though so I’ve been trying to remember to adapt it. I competed in an action shoot last week and had a mag that was topped off and it ended up falling out as I drew from the holster because I didn’t load this way.
On Glocks, you don’t actually need to press check if you’re admin loading in normal lighting conditions. There’s a thin gap in the back right section of the ejection port that allows you to see the brass inside the chamber. It’s even easier to see with duty ammo that has the nickel-plated casing. As long as you trust your own 2 eyes, no press check is required. If you’re double-extra OCD, feel free to do the press check anyways. 😁
What's the difference between your finger and a wood peg. I just don't think it is a good practice to stick things through the trigger guard unless it is a lock designed for that purpose.

SPORTS -slap, pull, observe, tap ,squeeze..it never leaves you ..
That’s no way to treat a girl😂

Glad i learned to shoot in basic training and had fantastic instrctors that built most of these habits already
Excellent steps on how to ensure operability. I am a novice and appreciate the education. Thank you!
Nice.
Thanks Mike.
Always great content... thanks for the refresher Mike!
Something about that BCM rifle 😌
Good to see this again.

Thanks for the Share.
😢 so sad weapons manipulation is an issue for so many.
You always share good info.
Great video guys!!

Excellent information for safe operation 👍

Greg followed by Lilly in the back 😂😂
I’ve been trying to lock the bolt carrier on this ak for hours can’t figure it out.

Have you seen his video of inspecting a rifle at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier?
His stuff is tight!
flashbacks
My G19 has enough daylight for me to see the chambered brass, no need to presscheck.
want a BCM!! i hate ppl make ARs with no forward assist now. good stuff thats how I load
I make zero mistakes loading an ar15 im out but lots of new gun people rock on mike
Can I pet that dog?
I’m interested to hear your mind set on that being a RECCE setup. (Genuinely).
Don't forget to put it on safe as well!

Competition while fun and useful is not gunfighting where you can lose your life. Different purpose so different methods.
Depends on the individual receiving instruction. In groups, basic, safe and redundancy are important.

Thanks...at least I do that right
Dang I been trying to find a full bcm rifle for awhile. Stopped trying for the lower. May look into sons of liberty
no inventory?
One question, do you follow this same procedure for rifle or pistol, when you are fighting (meaning in a gun fight, God forbid). Thank you
I clicked on this video because i thought it was about reloading, lol
You start messing around with an AR10 the same dynamics apply.

You failed to download your mag by one.
I always load and reload in my work space up in front of me.
Press check this UA-cam! Here's a comment for the algorithm.
I hate to say it but TMI bro. Verified people please. No aid. Only the good deserve.
How does one “close the feed tray” ? 😂❤️
Dust cover. Lol
Tell that to Garandthukb 😂

Just here for lack of comments
this seems complicated
Not being a @#$% but do you think it is a good practice to keep your Springfield M1A with a wood peg through the trigger guard?
Whats wrong with it?

@@ronrussell3818 I see zero issue with it *shrug*
Ty. I’ve been loading my 380 improperly. Now I know.
You need to hook up with Blake and Morgan.
YES!
Arnt you a felon?
Nope. If you’re going to troll, at least be creative about it.
