Really well explained, searched a lot and finally got this beautiful video explaining everything that you need to know for successful pollination of anthurium. Everything is explained from so basic, which helps beginner to apply and utilise for their future gardening.
Thank you for such an in depth video. I have 28 germinated clarinervium seeds growing right now so this will help me in the future. One thing though... I also cut off my 2 inflorescences when I received my clarinervium because it got lost in the post and had spent 10 days in a dark box. I didn't want the plant to have to work too hard to recover. However, I didn't throw them away and much to my surprise the one with 'green bumps' on continued to grow and become berries. Every single berry ripened and from 18 berries, I got 28 seeds which have all germinated. 🥰 Edit: I meant to add, I put the inflorescences in water and they ripened within a few weeks. 🥰

I meant to add that, yes, I put them in water. 😂 I was just curious and thought that the little green bumps were maybe flower buds but they turned out to be much better than that! I have seen elsewhere that someone said they take forever to ripen on the plant; it seemed to happen much faster in water, possibly because of necessity. It just took a few weeks (I'll check dates later and edit... actually just 2-3 weeks!) from tiny green bumps to perfectly ripe berries and now all of them have a nice fat root with 2 beginning their first leaves. I really hope this helps. 🥰
@@adansoniia I have dates after a little photo/email investigation... I cut them off on 8th September as small dark green bumps. First noticed them growing and some yellowing on 4th October. I harvested them on 27th October but they had been ripe (orangey red and soft) for at least a week or 2 before I did. In fact a couple of the berries were already turning black. So yeah, it's obviously supercharged if you cut them off and place in water. 😊 I don't know how long they had been there on the plant though, I just know how quickly they developed after cutting them off.

To my understanding female and male phase in certain part of the spadix happen at the same time. Sometimes droplets can be hard to see, especially if it's the plant's first inflo. IF it's getting bumpier it could be a sign of it going into male phase or making berries (: Thing to note clarienerviums are super slow in terms of berry development and you have to wait about a year for them to ripen (': Good luck, I hope you get some berries!

Oh wow I've never heard of this issue - usually it's the problem with seeking female phase. I don't have an exact answer sworry, but you might wanna try the following: extra fertilizing (especially with phosphorus and look into micronutrients), maybe try to suppliment it with more light (inflos love it), give it a fresh repot if its root bound. Sorry I can't be muchh of help!

I don't have a clarienervium anymore sadly! But I would say to do as you mentioned :( they are very slow with whole making berries process, so you have to be patient.

I have a question about inflorescence : if I am not interested into pollinating (because my place is already full of plants, I don't need more ...) is it better to cut the inflorescence ? I have a dedicated zip bag, where I keep all my pollen pouches. It’s not the best and I’ve gotta change the set up to a plastic container with silica bag to which the moisture. For the temperature, the lower the better :)
ah this was my question, but I'm still wondering if we can collect multiple times while it's producing or just once? If you do collect more than once, so you put the pollen in the same foil that holds the previously collected pollen (from the same inflo).

You can collect it both ways. Some flowers produce a lot of pollen and a lot can be lost when you accidentally kick it etc. But sometimes if you are too lazy or a plant doesn't produce much it can be done just one time

Hi! I didn't wait for the full inflo to be in drops (ususally you'd wanna aim for 2/3 of spadix covered in stigmatic fluid). Th reason for this is the fact that it was first ever inflo that this plant has produced. FIrst inflos can sometimes completely skip the female phase or it can be very hard to notice (no stigmatic fluid) or the droplets don't go trough the whole spadix. The last option happened to my friends inflo that we tried to pollinate and it failed lol, so I wasn't gonna risk it. About half of the spadix was covered in stigmatic fluid when I applied the pollen. For how long? Ususally about 2 weeks after the inflo is out of the spadix the d5roplets form (:

Wenever there is visibly enough to collect. If I let it on the spadix for too long, I end up accidentaly bumping into the spadix and loosing it!
