Hi! Great content! Just wanted to mention, I have had personal experience and heard of others who have pollen develop on the seed parent inflo even after successful pollination! As in, pollen forms but berries also still form after! Maybe it’s species dependent?
yes, this is totally possible! I didn't mention it during the video but that is actually what happened to my Crystallinum black when I first pollinated it, so for a while I was holding my breath about whether or not the pollination was truly successful! The inflorescence started changing color/shape, and continued to produce pollen, although not as much compared to an un-pollinated inflorescence. Hmm, I do wonder if it's species dependent as well, or perhaps maturity-dependent? So cool regardless! Thank you for mentioning this! 🤩
Plants are so smart- if they’re only mature enough to have one inflorescence, they’ll have to cross pollinate with other specimens, widening the gene pool of the seeds…but if it gets big and mature enough to have multiple inflorescences, it has proven itself to have good enough genetics to make seeds on its own 💪🏼 so freakin’ cool! 🌿
If two anthurium are not from the same section or are endemic to different regions in the tropical americas what will happen is you'll have a lower to impossible success rate when trying to polinate/ create hybrids. So like, the mexican anthurium groups aren't able to be hybridized with the peruvian group for example. Sometimes it does work however and we get awesome stuff like Veitchii X Papililaminum or veitchii X forgetii. So it's not impossible, just really unlikely lol. I couldn't actually open the file so Idk if veitchii is part of the same section as the Papi or forgetii, however apart from a few indonesian sellers, I have never seen a veitchii X velvet Anthurium hybrid anywhere else, which would lead me to think the success rate is low when hybridizing it with velvet anthurium 🤷♂️ imagine a Veitchii X Warocqueanum though 🥲🔥 So happy to see you come over to UA-cam! Been watching all your videos and am excited to see your channel grow! Thanks for the awesome chill vibes content and have a lovely week 😎💪🏻
yes! I've seen some really interesting crosses coming from other collectors/nurseries, but it sounds like only a very few number of berries end up developing, and then only very few seeds successfully germinate, so they are truly special! Ah that cross sounds like a dream!!! When I first started I thought a King x Queen would have been so perfect 😆
This is wonderful information! I just recently got my first anthuriums and they’re at the potted up seedling stage. I can’t wait to pollinate them someday and watch growth 💚🪴 thanks for this video and the cute cat along with !
This video is so helpful! I've recently gotten into collecting Anthurium and I have a forgetii that's about to give out pollen. Perfect timing! Thank you!
yay I'm glad you found this helpful!! You can definitely collect the pollen and store it in the meantime if you don't have another inflo that is receptive. Good luck!
Thank you! I can’t wait too, I just want to see what they will grow up to look like! 😆 it’ll be pretty fun to watch them grow over the next few months though ☺️☺️
Another great tutorial video!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge of pollination. You made it seem fairly straight forward as long as you know the basics. It doesn’t seem as scary anymore LOL. Also, love how your cats like getting in on the action!!
Thank you, that was the goal - make it easy to understand and not so intimidating! I'm glad I managed it hehe! And yes, the cats are always trying to be the stars of this channel, I always have to shoo them away or cut some footage 😂
Thanks for the info!! :) when you transition them to lower humidity environments, do you usually transfer to something like a greenhouse cabinet or do you go straight out in your home?
I'm not 100% sure because we have multiple shades of this color around the house, but it's either HC-160 Knoxville gray, or Essex Green by Dukux paints!

they are insanely cool!!! If plants were sentient the way humans/animals are, I bet they could literally take over the world 😂
That’s so interesting and good to know!!❤
Bless Andy’s ❤

Thank you thank you my crystallanium x mag just flowered and i was not sure what to do!!!! Now i have options 🎉🎉🎉
short sweet and to the point!! nature is so freaking cool like anthurium know to have the female phase first in order to avoid self pollination!
I agree! Nature is super cool and smarter than we realize 🤓
This video was so fun and informative! I’m so glad yt recommended you! I just got my first anthurium seeds and I’m so excited 🎉🎉
I really enjoyed the video ,thank you for taking time to explain to us how to pollinate. :)
This vidéo is very well made and informative, thank you so much for making it. ❤
Here because Jeff from Everything Plants suggested your new channel. Subscribed😊
welcome!!!! Thank you for subbing and I hope you enjoy my content! Jeff has amazing plants and videos!
Thanks for the reference to the article, it's quite fascinating. I love nerdy plant stuff :D
hahaha you're welcome! I like nerdy plant stuff too 🤣
Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm new to anthurium .
I loved this, your so good at it!❤
I love it❤also matches your back wall❤
The seedlings are so darn cute! Can’t wait to see them grow up. Thanks for the video!

Thanks Bekka, good info 🥰 I love the green wall in your dining room 💚
thank you!! Hehe I wasn't sure about the wall at first but I'm growing to like it

This video is so informative, thankyou so much!!
I’ve always wondered how pollination was done. Thank-You, I learned a lot. 💚🌿
you're welcome! I'm glad this video helped you 🥰
I shared this video in my plant group. You explained everything so well 😊
thank you for sharing!!! I hope they find it helpful too!
This a very helpful & easy way to understand anthurium pollination:))
I'm glad! My goal was to make this easy to understand yet informative, so I'm happy to hear I managed to achieve that 😁
I SO need an anthurium in my life! 😍 You have such great content!
Yes you do! Anthurium are amazing! thank you so much 🥰
This was sooo interesting!
Thanks! I hope it was informative and easy to understand, too!
This video helped so much. Hope to see nee videos one day :)
Thank you very educational...
Thanks for the info
thank you for this
Do you have a more informative video of pulling the seeds and germinating? I looked but couldn't find one. Thanks!!!
Thanks for the info!! :) when you transition them to lower humidity environments, do you usually transfer to something like a greenhouse cabinet or do you go straight out in your home?
I really like your wall colour. I’m also thinking of a mint teal wall… what is the exact colour / shade on your wall?
I'm not 100% sure because we have multiple shades of this color around the house, but it's either HC-160 Knoxville gray, or Essex Green by Dukux paints!
that is a lovely tutorial! you have such a soothing voice and cute character
Hihi! May I know how do you pollinate using frozen pollen? Thank you :)
I think I just let it thaw for a little bit, then i just put some on my fingers and applied it to a receptive inflorescence 😁
So if it goes to the male stage. That means 100% my pollination is not successful? I can cut it off?
👍👍💚💚🤗
