    Great video and awesome product! I was on your website looking before you were even to the outside part! Small suggestion for the website, i couldn’t seem to find the search button (i could just be blind) but found the ring anyway! Hope to see you out on the AZ trails!

      Thanks for the great feedback! I'll see what's up with the search function. If you're ever out in the East Valley, or off road in the desert, look for the GearAmerica Jeep, and say hi!

    with my front winch on my cj-7. i can one line no other items pull my self back word. just by running the steel rope under the jeep. can not be done by the plastic rope. ( no pulleys or soft paces., the plastic will fail,) .
    but i am thinking of getting a couple “rings” and soft shackles for the tool box. as one can never have too many ways to hook up.

    Can these rings and soft shackles be used to make a 3:1 pulley for pulling stumps? How would you keep the ropes from falling out of the rings?

  • @larryjanson4011
    @larryjanson4011 7 місяців тому

    can those “ring” pulley take the abuse of a steel rope off the winch?
    i will always use a steep rope, but have been thinking maybe a couple of the plastic rope items.
    if for no other reason the just a couple more ways to get a good safe pull.

    How can this be used to winch cars up on trailer?

    • @BoldCanyonOutdoors
      @BoldCanyonOutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      You would need a solid attachment point on the trailer, then you can winch from beside the trailer and use the snatch ring as a “change of direction” pull.

    Sooooo.... and you are not alone.... why do you not use the protective sleeve on your soft shackle as it is intended to be used as an another layer of protection for the shackle. If you must use your bumper mounted recovery points, chamfer them to break the sharp edges and lastly just finger tighten your metal shackles and secure them with a zip tie.... no pliers needed and the will not vibrate lose, just sayin....MJMcDowell

      Sorry…my focus wa showing off the gold ring. I use smooth edged shackles to connect to my bumper with soft shackles. I have them on all four corners and never remove them, so they are TIGHT! I carry extra shackles and 6 soft shackles at all time so I don’t have to loosen or remove the shackles in my bumper. Just my preference. Good points though! I appreciate the feedback!

      Recovery rings are intended to be used on soft shackles without chafe protection. Those sleeves, increase friction on the ring and can also start to rotator with the ring over the shackle compounding damage on the shackle.

    • @michaelmcdowell6670
      @michaelmcdowell6670 Рік тому

      @@tyeetamer Whhhhhhaaaaaat???? think about it friction is friction, the chafe guard will actually protect the shackle... not damage it...

    • @tyeetamer
      @tyeetamer Рік тому

      @@michaelmcdowell6670. Depending on the chafe guard material, there is usually more friction between the guard and the ring than just the dyneema shackle and the ring. This leads to a less efficient system.
      Chafe guards can increase damage to the shackle if they start to rotate with the ring on top of the dyneema, since again there is more friction between the chafe material and the shackle than just the shackle and the ring.
      It’s for both of those reasons that manufacturers of quality rings advise against using chafe guards with them. Take a look at the Factor 55 RRP for instance . . .

    • @michaelmcdowell6670
      @michaelmcdowell6670 Рік тому

      @@tyeetamer Ok... then why is chafe guard found on the vast majority of soft shackles and recovery straps ( dynamic snatch and static straps) something does not wash here. Sharp edged recovery points show a lack of proper design just as do the way most shackle mounting points on almost all after market bumpers are welded on ie. (ARB for one) good reason to have chafe guard, how ever side loading these recovery points, can be dangerous, ask a professional rigger see what they say, safe for in line pull only......just sayin.MJMcD...

    *Physics says it **_DOES_** make that winch into a 24k winch.*

    • @BoldCanyonOutdoors
      @BoldCanyonOutdoors  Рік тому

      Well, yes and no. A 12000 lb motor will only pull 12000 lbs. it doesn’t mysteriously get stronger…the pulley just gives it a mechanical advantage. Like using a long pole as a lever
      To move a huge rock.

      @@BoldCanyonOutdoors
      A winch is made up of it's compoenents. Every part of a winch used to move an object is part of that winch. The pulley either DOES make the winch into a 24k winch, or it DOESN'T.....it is impossible for both statements to be true. The pulley is as much a part of the winch as the gearing is inside the winch housing....they all work together to DO WORK. *The fact is that adding another pulley to the winch makes that winch into a 24k winch.....it does not matter if you agree or not.* #LawyersGetTheRope

    Why not hook winch directly to the tree saver ? The ring only cause more drag. But I'm sure you'll get alot of non common sense people to buy this stuff but we've pulled many units out for years with only a winch. Lol😂

    • @BoldCanyonOutdoors
      @BoldCanyonOutdoors  Рік тому

      The ring is essentially a snatch block that gives you a mechanical advantage when you are really stuck, or allows a change of direction if you don’t have a straight shot to pull someone out. Look up pulleys and mechanical advantage. If it’s an easy straight pull, one would absolutely go straight to the tree saver.

    • @randyantonio1093
      @randyantonio1093 Рік тому

      Still think you are wrong. Whether you are pulling with your own winch or with another vehicle, it is the same set up which is a redirect. To get the mechanical advantage the pulley must be at the load. Take a look at any haul system diagram and the mechanical advantage pulleys are always at the load and moving as you pull on the load line.
      Do your own test. With your set up if you take up one foot of winch line you will move the load one foot. With a mechanical advantage system if you use the winch to pull one foot of line, you will only get six inches of movement at the load of it is a 2/1 mechanical advantage, but only need half the pull energy to move the load.

    • @andycabrera6684
      @andycabrera6684 8 місяців тому

      @@randyantonio1093 you are 100% correct. This explanation is just rinse repeat of many others that don’t themselves understand how mechanical advantage is created. The ring/snatch block is merely a change of direction. Very few of these off road guys understand that the only possible mechanical advantage that can be happening is at the winch itself which is acting as a moving pulley. It so happens to also be pulling the load. The only advantage to this scenario as opposed to tying the end of the line directly to the anchor is that the pulley distributes the weight of the load between 2 lines. This in itself is not mechanical advantage as the pulling power remains the same.

      I still prefer Crosby bow shackles and steel snatch block, in my opinion the only real use for soft shackles is to join straps. The weakest link should either be your winch line or the winch.
