    I wish there were a whole lot more John Candy movies. I love all movies he's in. I'm hoping they're recovering well down there from the hurricane.

    I've spent my life watching movies. From a small dark corner of the world and from a forgotten man who lives in solice of the shadows, thank you. For a moment, I was 8 years old again.

    The fan response to this movie never ceases to amaze me. I/we only thought of it (at the time) as a local movie with limited appeal. As a young adult living on Indian Rocks Beach (life long resident), I had a neighbor who was friends with Carl Reiner. One thing led to another and me and several of my beach friends had the opportunity to be extras in the movie. I got on screen appearance in 4 different scenes, however many others were cut. The 10 day on-set experience was great, a bit long and boring at times, but a wonderful time. I was lucky enough (also because of my neighbor) to have dinner one night with John Candy, Carl Reiner, Richard Crenna and several others I can't recall. I spent time with John and he was a genuinely nice man. He was always gracious, humble and friendly. During dinner he gave me tips on how to get noticed in background scenes and gave me cues when filming to get on camera. Any who, I'm so glad so many people like the movie. It was a fun time and John is most certainly missed.

      Indian Rocks Beach!! I love Crabby Bills!! I went to St Leo in the late 80's and my girlfriend was from Clearwater Beach. Her parents had a place on the beach in Indian Shores. Use to hang a lot in your nape of the woods. I love the Gulf coast much more than the east coast

      I now live just east in Brandon but have fond memories of Vacations in Indian Rocks bch. In fact I was only 5 & on the beach when I heard adults talking about Maryln Monroe dying that day. All small cottages back then.

    @ 8:10 you are actually a block off on this location. When the people are walking by the Chester rented house heading to the public beach that was actually filmed at the left side of the house used for the movie, no "movie magic" was used there. You were at the correct location where the house once stood at 12:17 and that was where all the house scenes and also the scene with the people walking by the house towards the beach were filmed. So the house you show at 9:10 doesn't appear in the movie in the background, again you were a block off the correct house in that scene shown in the background is at house number 15815 there on Gulf Blvd directly across the street from where the Chester's rented house in the film once stood. Also the Chester's car wouldn't have been parked in the back as you suggest, it was in the front to the right of the house there was a driveway so that is where the scenes with Jack about to take Laurie to preschool and Jennifer meets the lifeguard that was all filmed at the front of the house. There is a pretty interesting article in the May 19, 1985 St. Petersburg Times/Tampa Bay Times that describes all the work they did converting the house that once stood there into the ugly house the Chester family rented you see in the movie, there even is a picture of the house in the article on how the house actually looked in reality before it was transformed for the movie.

    • @gluecement
      @gluecement Місяць тому +1

      Agreed! That house at 15815 Gulf Blvd still matches perfectly with what appears in the background when belching man points to the public beach entrance. Thanks for helping set the record straight.

    John Candy was one of my favorite actors. The day he died, just like John Ritter, I cried. I am glad that you did this, as I wouldn’t have imagined anything would’ve been left. I would love to buy that theater and do something with it. regardless, thank you for doing this film. I always loved it and it’s always on my rotation of movies to watch. Hope all is well.

    The guy in the red hat is the best! That scene you speak of when John Candy goes upstairs and finds him in the bed with the dog NEVER gets old! I laugh so hard every time! Born in 82 and grew up watching all of John's movies, thanks to my Dad who was a huge fan. My Dad passed away suddenly this past June. Seeing this vlog made me smile and think of them. Thanks Jordan ❤

    One of my favorite John Candy movies along with Uncle Buck and Cool Runnings. I could watch Summer Rental any day even when it’s not summer it never gets old if I need a laugh and I’m only selecting the big roles that he was in as my favorite of his not small roles.

    This was great! When I was a little kid, my parents had an apartment on Treasure Island and we would often walk along the beach to John's pass, walk over the bridge and get fried fish at one of the "hole in the wall" restaurants over there. I have fond memories of that time period, so in addition to being cool filming locations, it's also a blast from my actual past! I probably saw movies at that old theater!

John candy admired steve MartIn ..in an interview he said steve .Martin was his mentor.SUMMER RENTAL made everyone laugh 😅 in the movie theater never stopped since. We lost a Lot of actors that touched our hearts in manny ways but John had a heart ❤️ of gold. And it showed. GOD BLESS HIM I KNOW HES LOOKING DOWN FROM HEAVEN SMILING AT YOU HONORING HIM.😊..I didnt know of you knew his daughter is in that commercial plaxcovid?
