Considering that Clone Wars is praised by a fair portion of the Star Wars community, including myself, it's actually refreshing to see a review that isn't a hundred percent positive on it. Always nice to have a variety of opinions.

Another TCW retcon here is that the Dugs are NOT supposed to have any political power on Malastare. The Gran are in charge and the Dugs were laborers.

Once you finish all seasons of TCW, you should cover at least some of the Republic comics by Dark Horse and make a comparison with TCW, highlighting where Filoni & co. screwed : Quinlan Vos, Grievous, Asajj Ventress, the general higher stakes of the war in the older canon. Hell, Anakin is unhinged in the old Multimedia Project : he destroys Ventress on two occasions, he almost kills A'Sharad Hett (a.k.a. Darth Krayt) thinking he's a Tusken Raider when they first meet, he throws Durge (a much scarier bounty hunter than Cad Bane) into an escape pod to the Sun to kill him, not to mention how he goes full Vader on the Skakoans on Nelvaan in the microseries.

I remember Tadd Larkin saying someone calling out Dave Filoni for changing Yularen into an admiral when he was supposed to be a colonel. Filoni could've had someone tell him otherwise. Also, Barriss Offee is apparently supposed to closer to Anakin's age when she befriends Ahsoka. In regards to the Mandalorians in TCW, alot of them had blond hair, which is not really the case in the EU, but Bo-Katan is revealed to have red hair.

@The Cambot I am not sure what you wanted to say with your comment but just in case I am going to give the argument of why the line is good in the context of the film.
Anakin is a 19 year old teen that for 10 years has been part of the celibate jedi order and has no experience in how to talk to girls. On the other hand Padmé is a young politician who because of her political status can’t have easily a sincere relationship with a person and Anakin being very sincere with his feelings charms her a lot. Many people think that when she say to him to stop looking to her in that way she is annoyed by Anakin’s look and in reality its the opposite, she is charmed by Anakin’s look, Lucas did it too with Han and Leia’s relationship in the emperor strikes back. Before Anakin says his very famous meme line of hating sand Padmé was talking about her childhood and how she used to go to the beach with her friends and stay on the sand all they. On the other hand Anakin’s when he says that he hates sands he his thinking back to his childhood where he was force into slave labor and also hated the sand he was surrounded by. I hope now you understand that line of dialogue in context!

    • @davidbraccini4770
      @davidbraccini4770 2 роки тому +3

@The Cambot Yeah here I don’t have a real defense and neither does Anomaly Inc. George Lucas loves Shakespear so he included many lines that are very exaggerated from Shakespare. The problem is that like I said before Anakin isn’t used into speaking to girls and the way he speaks in such a romantic and expressive way is a bit out of character. I agree that the line in question should have been reduced and made less shakespearian to reflect more Anakin’s character.

Yea timeline issues are problems with a lot of extended universes though. My best example is Halo Reach. Several people hated the game because of its interference with the EU in that universe. However, it was one of my favorite games.
It’s why you have too tier cannon in these types of universes. The books comics and lore that the majority of the audience will never see can prevent good stories for the screen.
Dave Filoni you can tell respects George Lucas and his vision. He’s still not George and has his own vision. However, it’s better than the garbage Lucas Films puts out.

@@charlybr0wn226 It's not as if what we lost in the EU for Filoni's retcons are improvements to the verse. I'm also skeptical of the claims he is a lore master with how much lore he's botched even AFTER George has left. He was _marketed_ as a lore master and never delivered on them, instead blaming the flighty George who was losing interest in the story rather than himself, when we have instances where he went around the heads of continuity editors trying to hold him back to get permission from George to break continuity. It's not as if George was ever consistent anyway, always changing his mind. Just think about this. All the old EU authors worked hard to try to fit within George's guidelines, but now we have a company that seems to go to Filoni for advice and not George. Kennedy has admitted this and Deborah Chow has admitted this. Really consider that for a moment. What it says to me is that almost everything in Disney Star Wars, from the movies to the video games to the new EU and animated projects, is more Filoni's baby than it is George's baby. George is just a convenient scapegoat for them to blame when things go wrong and sponge off when things go right that they never created.

    • @charlybr0wn226
      @charlybr0wn226 2 роки тому

@@saberiandream316 Certainly, that being said I blame Kathleen Kennedy a lot more than I blame Filoni. George and Filoni from what I understand respect one another.
The decision to make Filoni a lore expert and cut out George is not Filoni’s decision. I’ve seen from behind the scenes that Filoni want to work with George again. Not adhering to the larger EU doesn’t make him disrespectful. As you said George could also loose continuity here and there.
The issue I have with Disney is there lack of respect for the fans and their unwillingness to clean house of people who clearly hate Star Wars and their fans. Filoni and Favreau aren’t in that camp. If they brought back George and worked off George’s vision with Filoni and Favreau executing it we could once again have good stories. Maybe not the same as George on the ground but good enough for me.

"There isn't a thing that we do in the storytelling space that I don't check with Dave. What I find about Dave is you don't just sit down and have a discussion about plot or review characters inside the Star Wars world. You end up having meaningful, thoughtful discussions about what it is we're trying to say inside the storytelling." - Kathleen Kennedy
“So there were definitely people that were extremely helpful. Lucasfilm has a great team that helps support that. But I would say Dave Filoni was very pivotal for me, both in terms of The Mandalorian and in terms of the Star Wars of it all, as well as Jon Favreau. But Dave also was a touchstone, and remains a touchstone for me for this series. Anytime I have a question about canon, I go to him.” - Deborah Chow
He is a liar. He lied in the new-canon novel A New Dawn where he said their new EU would be "interconnected" for "the first time" in Star Wars history! Oh, you might wanna blame the corporate sharks on the executive side... except he's become one of those long ago. Look at how he and Favreau were just fine changing the character of IG-88 to IG-11 to help Disney dodge royalties. He is every bit part of the Disney problem and these issues will outlast Kennedy.

Clone Wars 2003 wasnt that much better in showing that But it showed the scale of a GALACTIC WAR, was way more focused, to the point and shorter. i would want a real clone wars series with the main offensives , campaigns , showing how the PUBLIC views the jedi, clones and palpatine. how could they left out the battle of jabiim, Operation durges lance or the foerost campaign? so much action and story missing and they literally skipped over things "oh we casually invade CATO NEIMODIA " a separatist stronghold or the entire outer rim sieges. they should never called the show TCW because they care all about everything else except the goddamn war

I liked how the show bridged the gaps between the movies as it does expand on anikans character I feel anyway.
We see Anikan being as Obi-wan said "he was the best star fighter in the galaxy and a cunning warrior and a good friend". We actually see this in the series. We see Anikan being a good friend to Obi-wan as he helps him rescue duchess satine, we see anikan being a concerned mentor to ashoka when she's kidnapped and survived on her own, we see him being a great warrior and we see him embracing the darkside.

I have to criticize your critique of lethal trackdown. I don't know where you got the idea that Jango fett hates the jedi, I've even played the bounty hunter game which expands his character. He comes off as more of an anti hero similar to Boba fett (who actually hated the jedi, at least for a while). He doesn't seem to have a personal beef with them, unless they were to get in the way of his hunt or something, and he didn't se like someone who would've rested easy if he knew his "son" was committing mass murder.
That and one thing about grievous. Grievous does need to retreat and hide at least a few times to be character consistent with continuity, I'm referring to both the 2005 clone wars cartoon volume 2 where count dooku teaches him about retreating when things arent going his way, and the revenge of the sith where windu states he will run and hide like he always does (retreating). However they did lose top often to where grievous was a joke.
Aside from both of those criticisms of your review, it was fantastic great job.

for the clone trooper who deserted a battle...and started a family. stupid filoni shrunk the timeline and then made it feel like the war went on for longer than it actually happened at the same time. and then his kids are 8 years old which i am sure that would never happen..this writing is bullshit and a stupid way to show a clone trooper still alive but left behind...jackass filoni made it seem the clone wars lasted for 10 years inside one episode

  • @histguy101

Season 2 is the best clone wars season imo. It's the only season that has a lot of standalone episodes and 2-parters. After this, it's all 3 or 4 episode arcs, Darth Maul stories, and blah blah blah.
I love the Godzilla episodes, the Geonosis arc(which despite being a 4 parter, every episode is a huge shift into a new setting, its own complete story, and a play on some classic genre). I love the bounty hunter stuff, the cheesy lightsaber lost episode. They're all good.
"It's filler." It's an anthology series. They're is no filler.
I'm not saying it's the greatest show, but a lot of your complaints are answered right in the show, like:
"Deathwatch shouldn't exist, because they were destroyed.
Well, that's probably why the Mandalorian government believes Deathwatch was destroyed and no longer exists at first.
    Or
    "Cut Lequayne's step-kids shouldn't exist."
If they're his step kids, they're not his biological kids. They're fully twilek.
"Boba Fett and Aura Sing are supposed to be rivals during the clone wars"
Huh? Little 10-11 year old Boba Fett has rivals? Is he already a bounty hunter? Where did you get this?
    "Plot armored heroes always win."
You're not paying attention. Every time they win, they're actually losing and Palpatine is reaping the benefits, just like the heroes win in ep1 & 2, or seem to, but every victory for the heroes tightens the noose. So many episodes and arcs in the show follow this prequel formula.

Does this guy really like Anikin Star wars episodes 1,2, and 3?
    Anakin quotes
    "I like sand"
"On my point of view the jedi are evil."
    "Yipeeeeeee!!!"
    "Now this is pod racing!"
"She doesn't like it when I'm watching her."
Ok, by the way do you think JJ and Ryan Jhonson really care about whether or not the original series fits into the original series. I think you need to look at subjects as a whole rather than nit picks.

Some bad (or “bad”) quotes does not make a bad character.
Leia said, “Why you... half-witted... scruffy-looking... NERF HERDER!”
Does that mean her character is bad now?

Taking quotes out of context is so cheap. Anakin is meant to be awkward, and even if he wasn't most of those quotes are decent if you look at them within context.
