Nicely done Errani/Vavassori. What an extraordinary year for Errani: completing the golden career grand slam in doubles, a first major mixed doubles title, a near certainty that she and Paolini will reach the WTA finals in doubles and a return to the top 100 in singles. Brava, Sara!
It took me so long to register that was THE DONALD YOUNG. I remember watching him in the late 2000’s early 2010’s, he was a young promising player, almost a phenom in juniors, and that team with Taylor is deadly. 2 of the most talented shot makers, both lefties, playing doubles together?!? And his last tournament was here on his home soil and makes a fairy tale run to the US Open final?! 😮 I haven’t heard of Donald in over a decade which is why it didn’t register, but that signature hat slightly to the side gave it away. We’ll miss you Donny! And congrats to the victors, what a few weeks for Sara! Olympic gold and a USO title in the twilight of her career, how awesome
0:19 is just insane to me lol, couldn’t even detect a speed. Her motion totally disrupts the kinetic chain and doesn’t allow her to put anything on her serve. If she used a simpler motion for her entire career, she def could’ve added 10mph to her serve speed. There’s a lot of short players with amazing serves, Giorgi for example is around the same height and has served 115mph+ on occasion, so it would’ve been very doable for Sara to have a serve that isn’t a sitting duck.

Have to mute whenever Errani is playing. Painful.
