My wife and I are big REK fans and went to see a show he did with Lyle Lovett just really to see Robert. We had a few Lyle albums from early in his career but our interest tailed off. You have to see Lyle Lovett live to really appreciate how brilliant he is. Great voice, great guitar player. We've become nearly as big a follower of Lyle now as we are of REK. He's a true gentleman too

I remember Buck and the record shop. And Lyle standing near the far left end of the bar with Bill O'Brien on thursday nights at the 'Chicken.

Mr. Lovett is in a genre all his own. His voice and guitar playing as the sun sets. His music doesn't grow old.

It's a damn shame that more people haven't discovered Lyle Lovett. He is a great artist.

I liked Lyle's monologue, it brought back memories of Buck, the record store & quite possibly the "Record Lady" this song is about...

I left Texas many years ago and I always find myself returning to Texas Music . It's not just the feel of the music, It's also the Great storytelling and Lyle Lyle is one of the best in a group of many talented musicians .

I went to that record shop a few times. The Record Lady was there. Definitely worth the trip! A friend loaned me a cassette tape that had Lyle, backed up by Kiwi, doing this song and and all the rest of his early work. Lyle had made it in his living room. Hung blankets to make a studio, I was told. I managed to lose the cassette. Shame on me.

Possibly my favourite Lyle Lovett song. I should probably find one of those myself...

dunno what julia roberts saw in him. mind you, she is not exactly an oilpainting herself, is she? he looks like one of those escaped inbred hillbilly convicts from a mental home, i reckon. i am not an oilpainting, either!i mean, what would you do if youmet him half way up a laneway? jesus!!
