I would mount the seeder on the front of the tractor lower so the wind doesn’t blow seed around and you can seed in one pass and also use it with slug pellets if you roll the field.

Congratulations Adrian and family on your 60,000 subscribers. No doubt in my mind you will hit 100,000. The content and the positive attitude is a great thing for people to see. Having your family working along beside you is also good to see. Farming has it’s ups and downs but you show us you have to get things figured out and move on. Thanks for taking us along.

I'd mount the seeder on the front of the tractor Adrian, it would be a lot lower so the wind wouldn't blow the seed as much, your spread width would be narrower and you'd be harrowing in most of the seed. Richard, Jersey.

I bought a jarmet rake last year, and bought a vis tech air seeder for it direct off the company, Austrian built. It's great for seeding especially clover. It was only 2600 vat included delivered to my door. There is a cheaper manufacturer in France if you search just for anyone interested in them,

Vis tech was being sold rebranded by Keltec in Limerick for a few years. I have one fitted to a pottinger power harrow. Very good machine with the same internal seed roller as the APV as far as I know. Have mine about 5 years with no issues. Look for the course seed roller if fitting to the tine harrow as I've found the fine one is only suitable when doing

  • @HootMaRoot
    @HootMaRoot 2 роки тому +6

If that seeder fits on a quad, that means you could run small areas with a quad only. I have seen small rollers and both chain and tine harrows for quads. Only downside about quad equipment is they can be more expensive than the cheapest version or secondhand one with more options you can buy for a tractor

Just seen the video on the the rakeman, could the broadcaster be fitted a little bit lower on the frame? And also you mentioned the issue with losing seed beyond the rake, could you hang or fix a sheet across the steel uprights used for parking the rake, this would keep the seed over the rake.

I use my wagtail fertiliser spreader to sow grass seeds.........i was thinking what about putting your little seeder on the front of your tractor ..........make up a little carrying bracket fixed to your front weights /weight frame and have it a bit closer to the ground (less chance of catcing the wind closer to the ground) and then it would be a one pass job, thanks for a very informative video

Einbock is my first choice in Harrow. I used to work for a contactor a bit and he had a einbock with just the two electric fans and you had to go slow or it would block. So one day I got it in the work shop and mounted a spare McConnell hedge trimmer blower on it and adapted it to fit. This was quite a few year ago now probably before hydraulic fans were ever an option. But yes well worth investing in.

We would never have noticed if you hadn’t mentioned it. We have had a tine harrow for years but as we are now ancient, reluctant to use it as we have to shake off the thatch in heaps, thats the easy bit, but then have to fork it into a trailer. There is one thing to be said for a bit of thatch and that is the pasture stands up to poaching better. However there is no pressure on our grazing now with a few dairy calf guests, haylage bales, and a small number of tack sheep. Your tine harrow looks far more robust than our Einbok.

Good man Adrian 60,000 fair dues! I think you had 600 when I came across you. I think John Deere are coming under a bit of pressure from agco at the moment especially their fendts at the top of the range and the Massey's in the mid range which would probably explain the blanket adds on a Massey mans videos. Oh as for the harrow it has its job and is useful for some jobs we are in the fortunate position that our contractor bought an alstrong direct seeder last year for stitching seed and is a great tool which he doesn't charge a fortune for it since he got it we have got very lazy about doing the patching jobs and just ring him does a great job . Did a lot of clover stitching this spring in fact.

Would it make a difference,if the seeder box,was lower down?
You might have to make up a holding bracked for it, alright. By it being lower down, you'd have less wind blow off. I'd think anyway's as it seems to be fairly high up & a good bit, away from the ground.

    Hi Adrian
Just got one of these seeders . I'm thinking of mounting it on front of tractor I know it will get full harrow then but it creates a very small amount of soil so I don't think seeds too deep would be an issue .
As regards spreading too wide you can change angle of veins on disc that might correct that . Lower mounting too might help which you could do on weight block 😉
Fella I bought it from also recommended taking the jack legs off back of harrow too as they interfere with spread
    Thanks for everything

We have the same harrow now heading 4yrs. Fantastic job. We however did purchase the air seeder instead as we wanted to use it for full reseeds to get more use of it. Only issue with ours is, the dealer insisted on the air pipes being fitted at the rear which we weren’t happy about and objected to but fell on death ears. Better at the rear they said. 🤔
Same situation as yourself, Harrow, sow then harrow again. Going to bite the bullet and move the pipes to the front. Anyhow, Fantastic investment.

Well done Adrian on the 60k subscribers. On our case tractor we have what you call a baler bar for mounting control boxes. Also our claas tractor has one. If you end up getting a few machines with a control box in the cab then it might be worth looking into if it's something that will suit you.

Are they mounted with suction cups?

@@IFarmWeFarm no it will be bolted in. Both ours are an option when new. I'm sure you'd be able to retro fit a genuine mf one. They look as they bolt on around the side pillar to the left side of where the ignition is. If you Google pictures of your tractor cab then you'll see what I mean.

Farming has come a long way since my Father started his working hobby farm back in the late 1940"s. All of the equipment you use is so foreign to me and my Father always bought the latest equipment that came out back in the day. I love watching your channel as it brings me back to my roots. Congrats on reaching 60K.

Is there anyway you could mount the broadcast spreader on either the front of the big massey or even the back of the quad bike to sow the grass seeds , it would save you doing 3 passes w the tractor as pass 2 and 3 would be completed in the 1 run
