    What makes this more astutely correct is that the gentleman is Indian, knows his topic and discusses the real meaning behind his country's heritage and how it came to be known in a positive way. As a history educator I love this.

    my favourite ancient civilization never ceases to inspire awe in my imagination! to think that these peace-loving people who loved the arts, fashion, and travel, had no standing armies, no amassed weaponry, and very little social hierarchy, makes them unique in the 'ancient world' and worthy of our most careful study!

    Who was there in India before 5000 or 10,000 years ago ? Much before the Harappans …. I am really interested in the times when we were not civilized… cause I believe civilization is just our way of describe culture … even pre harappan ppl might have their own social structures … the reason that interests me is because if we go that far the all of the current social divisions get obliterated and we reach an age where we were not yet divided … atleast not along the current social and religious norms

    I've disliked and found Indian history the most difficult for it's innumerable dates and names in the vast canon of Indian history which has to be very accurate for board examination. But I didn't feel the same with World History or British History, American History and European history during my College years and I enjoyed reading even my reference book lists. When I watched these episodes you seem to clearly read my mind that I faced during my school days. Watching this just revives my interest in Indian history.
    Our centralized examination system and competitive examinations are really restraining and ruining the students from gaining access to scholarly books to read, quest and find higher knowledge.

    Cotton textiles are not "spun on looms." Spinning is how the fibre from cotton bolls is made into threads that are entered on a loom for weaving. The preparation of fibre and spinning are separate processes by hand or with tools esp spindles, tools to manage and measure threads, etc.

      As Tamil language is very ancient it has changed in every period. Tamil language has changed more than 15 times so its ancient form is not readable now. The alphabet of the Tamil language can be read twelve times, but its primitive form cannot be read. But the Aryans destroyed the source of it...Sanskrit was created by the Tamils themselves. The meaning of Sanskirudam is not even in Rigveda. That meaning is 'Samaikka patta kirudam '. If so, it is a 'Samaikka patta language'. English meaning is cooked language..Created with Tamil grammar and words from literature of many languages..
      Everyone explores Indus Valley north and east of India there is no evidence there. But they don't want to explore south of India and places around Indian ocean..why India doesn't allow it..

    Most of the Archeological excavations initiated during the British period, but the Indian government is restricting to exploring history with facts, now the government is focusing on mythological stories with religious basis. Acceptance, reasoning and discrimination of truth and fake are much required to educate the society with history. At least people should ask self questions about mythological stories and debate.

    Having watched the first two episodes that have been released thus far, on the one hand i feel as if i have gone back to school after many a years for a much-needed relook at the history of our Subcontinent as it has been down the centuries and in a way at my own past stretching back several thousands of years, into times that my sociocultural memory can't help me remember any longer as i go about my daily life...and on the other hand - on the basis of that very feeling - that this series should turn out to be an essential viewing for us all living in today's supercharged and thus chaotic sociopolitical climate in India, putting everything into perspective through the eyes of history, which should calm down us all, phew!
    i therefore send my warm congratulations and compliments to everyone involved in coming up with this wonderful and well-timed initiative - thank you.

      @sathyansundar 9 місяців тому

      @@keshavtyagi948 With all due respects, I disagree. Looks like you haven't analyzed the series and its contents thoroughly. Sanskrit itself is a product of religious syncretism that happened between the Vedic Brahmanic religion and the earlier faiths. Being a chantic language Sanskrit took its written form from the Devanagiri style much later in 6th CE. Thamizh established itself long before that.
      According to C. Annadurai, the former CM of Tamil Nadu....
      The etymology of the name Dravidam is very simple. Dravidam = Thee + Ra+ Vai +tam or Thee + Ra+ vidam. Vidam or idam means the place or the land. Thee + ra denotes the ‘Athee ‘[primordial fire] and the sun respectively. Hence Dravidam means the land of people who were the worshipers of Thee + Ra [thirai-- sky]] or whose ancestors were from sky or Thee+ Ra. It could be Thiru vidam , the land of Thiru, the ‘ wealthy land ‘ . Dravidians have the prefix ‘Thiru ‘ before their names. For example Thiru . k. Ramasmy ; The names of the places also have Thiru . For example; Chira palli is called as Thiru-chirappalli; Centhur is called as Thiru centhur. Presently Thiru means ‘respectable ‘ [Sanskrit equivalent word is ‘Sri ‘ and it is the corrupted form of the Tamil word Thiri-- Thee+ re, feminine [ Sthiri] form of Thee+ Ra; It is equivalent to' Mister ‘]. The original meaning of Thiru is Thee+ Ra or Thiraiyan . Alternatively, Dravidam means the land of Thirayan, the sea farers ‘--the ruler of the sea . Thiraiyan could also means' the ruler of the sky ‘. ‘Thiru' could also be originated from ‘ Theeran' or ‘Dheeran'.
      ‘Thiruvadirai' is one of the stars in the 27 cosmic constelllation.
      I hope this helps
