And hey guys, what do you think of this? I’m setting a goal to try for 2 longer videos like this per week, but honestly in long form content, I’ve not had this massive luck. South Park being banned isn't the same as a Hollywood star/role model whom is a super public figure being banned for some type of racial comments or support of a country whom is an enemy of another. Cena is a big money maker for Hollywood, can't have him moving wrong. South Park is basically dead these days
The sad thing is that even though movies such as Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018) show that people around the world are interested in risky and passionate storytelling, studios still rely on the same audiences if it makes money.
As an American I despise the fact that a foreign dictatorship is now exercising control on our film industry. It’s completely antithetical to what this country is about and everything I stand for. It shouldn’t be allowed. Filmmakers should be allowed to make whatever films they want, and they should never be limited by any government, especially by a foreign government we didn’t even vote for.
Unfortunately, most of these box office movie make half their money in China. Hollywood isn't going to sacrifice not getting back all that money they invested making those movies by displeasing China. So they kiss their asses. Funny coming from a two countries who are country at odds with each other. China wants to control everything and the US is letting them. China's even buying US agricultural lands, so if they already control what we put in our tables, that they're controlling the US film industry is nothing.
Let's also not forget that China demands changes to the actual films sometimes, most notably in Iron Man 3, where they FILMED A WHOLE DIFFERENT SCENE where "Iron Man got his arc reactor removed by going to China because Chinese doctors are better" - you can find the scene here on UA-cam and it's ridiculous that Marvel actually went along with that.

I came from the polls and made a few troll comments myself but, considering I orgininally began seeing u from shorts, I knew you were alright at talking about topics, 'controversial' or not, and providing information alongside, leaning heavily into one or the either side often, sometimes neutral. Good editing, tone, pacing, and script, good information given and as long as information is given alongside what that info means throughout the video then, to me, that's good. It all just depends on the topic and considering the content you make and the audience that may have been garnered through that, you should continue making content correlating things in culture that do relate to controversial or political affairs. I also suggest keeping different video topics broad as not to be recognized for only such content but mostly to be fresh for the audience. Im not a creator or anything i just watch stuff and observe
Thank you so much for this video, Charles! We all must appreciate and support independent studios and it’s really important to spread the information about those concentration camps, it seems like almost no one talks about it even amongst the politicians 😢
Looking at how much Top Gun Maverick and Joker made, these movies proved that we don’t need China. While The Fugitive was the movie that open doors to China and Hollywood, it wasn’t the first American movie to be released in China. First Blood was one of the films that opened in China before the 1990s and it did well. One ex-military soldier compared Rambo to him because he fought hard and received a little of what he got.
Actually, I saw a news/article before Top Gun hit theaters, where it mentioned a change that had to be made because China wasn't happy with it. Apparently, in the 1st TG movie, i think it was on the movie's characters' uniforms where the Taiwanese flag was represented as an ally. And in the 2nd movie it was asked to be removed because of China's LITTLE dilemma with Taiwan and anything symbolic of the US supporting Taiwan.
AGREED!! They just need to make their movies, in their ORIGINAL, UNEDITED manner!!! And China can STUFF IT & keep their own crappy, no-storyline-having, non-creative, C grade "films" for themselves!!😝🤨
Maybe you could try something where you do long form content like this, but also do like a news roundup of things that happened this week at the end of the week. I know you do the shorts but if some people only like your long form videos

The movie indusrty of china in right under the Chinese government, which means that the government can invest and censor filming in China. Also the Directors of the movie are Under the chinese government. Some of the actors are getting a lot of profit and chance but they are a slave to the Chinese government, such as Woo Jing. The china movies were not that strongly censored in terms of historical epics, and they made aa lot of those like The Hero, The Red Cliff, or the Ip man. But from the 2010s, lots of high budget blockbusters made in China are Propagandas from Chinese government (SF, fantasy, historical epics and war films, Action films) which did get the profit only in their country but definitely not outside China. The recent War Propaganda film that Woo Jing made in China has made failed at the Chinese box office, because the 20s and 30s in China are tired of watching 'Korean War Propagndas.' As a South Korean, I am sick of those Chinese War Propagandas. If you want to correct the informations upon, leave a comment.
Everything in China is under the Chinese government. But what really sickens me is that the government uses very popular celebrities (that have also become well known and followed outside their country) to promote their War Propaganda, by giving these celebrities war hero roles, with the damn slogan of "defending love and peace." And, unfortunately, I've seen comments from easily impressionable younger generations saying that the Chinese government and everything the country does is better. Exactly what China wants to hear from the Western.
I’ve never understood chinas relationship towards black people…my general thought is that the are racist but! There are a few black people they love, like Kobe Bryant. Only really famous black people.
Charles this is a really good video. I wasn’t remotely interested in this subject matter but you got me hooked. I’m sorry you’ve gathered such a vicious mob of trolls on your polls lol
It's hypocritical to state there may be any sort of prejudice involved from the chinese people regarding black actors. China isn't a very mixed society at all in that regard which may hold people back, but it's the US through it's movie, and music industry especially, that has encouraged and reinforced the same negative stereotypes of the same people for decades. There is a level of conditioning regarding how we perceive others that has taken hold as a result of the US entertainment industry alone locally, never mind china.
Oh, don’t worry. China doesn’t need to encourage stereotypes and bad perceptions. We’ve got plenty of people in the US who want to reinforce those ideas. See the multiple bands on books about Black people and how anytime of black person shows up you have the usual content creator, screaming on how it’s “woke” and how it’s going to “ruin everything.” So no we don’t need China’s help to be prejudice. We’ve got enough prejudice buttheads over here….
This kind of thing worries me because they don't have to pass any laws and they still influence the stories that hollywood will tell. Will people end up having a more positive view of china later despite the things they do becuase those are the kinds of movies that get made?
Nah because the US government invest in propaganda movies to show how great the country or military is but it doesn’t mean people come out believing it.
5:18 I don’t blame China for this one tbh, I wouldn’t want to go see a remake that relied on forced diversity and politics over good storytelling either
put a very heavy tax on media coming from china. the price would have to remain the same to consumers or they would not buy it effectively making it a no profit venture and costing china massively.
The irony of black people having single-handedly saved the martial arts film industry in the 60s-70s, China's biggest entertainment export....to now not even it making it on movie posters in China is tragic. They have their paws all over Africa but still have an aversion to black faces?? The disrespect is unreal.
Tell that to some Internet critics. Any movie that has a minority in it they will scream on how awful it is. So his complaints about China are more or less interesting and in some cases valid, but let’s face it.
