omg this was the best tutorial! thank you so much! Straight to the point, well filmed, and the "pearl on pear, blue on blue" has helped me remember the right way to fold it SO WELL. Thank you!!!:)
There are many ways to do a blend, the traditional Skinner Blend is two triangles and now you know, you don't have to have the corners touching! Hugs and Happy New Year! Hugs, D
I had been using the teardrop method-with very poor results I might add-and was getting so discouraged! I knew you had some videos on Skinner blends and I'm sure this will help immeasurably! Now going to watch your other Skinner vidoes! Thank you Donna! 💖
I think the teardrop method is interesting and probably works very well with soft clay but if a clay is stiff, it'd be hard to do. I don't know but it's what I imagine! Hugs, D
Excellent tip about making sure that you keep the edges together to keep the color true! Judith Skinner's blend (I feel like I have graduated a class ) is about all that I really know how to do! Like I can do this with my eyes closed! My trouble is when I roll it or fan fold it, I cannot "see" how to cut it to achieve a particular "look". But I WILL figure it out. With your help, of course. I made my first cane's today. I created 3 canes, a rose, a jellyroll & a second jelly roll with a gold strip laid onto the skinner blend. Its 3 am now & first ear rings done. I might have to sand them after bed . My clay packs are tiny & 28 gm (1 oz) largest packages down to 14 gm in others & just 7gm (1/4 oz) in small packages. I only managed 2 oz black & a 4oz pack of white Anyhow thanks & cheers. P.S my nails are split from the metal rings n things. Lol
Am soo looking forward to the live stream that I goofed and got up early TODAY looking for you! Refrieve! So, for TOMORROW morning, where do I go for the live stream please??
Hey Donna. I just watched you make this video. I do as you say and it blends long way but it shrinks the other way leaving not much to work with. What am I doing wrong? How do I keep the sheet long enough to use? I’m asking my teaching friends to help. I saw a video saying to switch the colored sides and I wasn’t doing that. Still keeping color to color on the ends just rotating colored ends. It helped making the blends but now my piece shrinks so bad I barely have a strip to work with hence why I’m asking for help.
okay, so this happens when you don't have a lot of clay in your blend, try resetting the pasta machine to a thinner setting and rolling through, you'll have more to fold!
Much thanks Donna but I was wondering if you have ever tried the teardrop method and what you thought of that? Sometimes I'm just in a hurry and that method has given me successful Skinner blends.

I have seen skinner blend demo touching the two corners and claimed that’s the only method. So thank you for showing this technique.

This was one of the best tutorials I’ve ever seen. Thank you so much
Love these basic tutorials! I sure wish these had been available when I started working with polymer clay back in the early 2000's!!
👍!
@@wendymoyer782 I agree, video tutorials are terrific.
Thank you for this video. Very easy to follow.

It’s on the channel, Kathy! Just click on it and you’ll be in. Hugs, D
Your blend doesn't seem to be getting wider as you blend. Are you using something to limit the width?
Hi Robie, the sheet did get wider. I do position one side against the wall next to the rollers so that restricts movement on one side. That helps!

I did this but ended not having much white at the bottom what did I do wrong? Any advice
This happens sometimes, I lose the white, too. You can actually add more and continue rolling! ❤️

Hi Betsy, I don’t know about that method but assume you put teardrops side by side? If so, sure that would work!
Yes alternating small ends to large ends. And thank you for such a prompt answer❤
What pasta machine are you using?
Hi, I use an Atlas 150, the shorter one. I find they last longer for me. Hugs, d
