Is admin & insurance dictating your therapy or are you?

  • Flashback to when I became LSVT certified in New York City during my CF year! I was so excited to bring this valuable knowledge back to my patients with Parkinson's at the rehab hospital I was working at but...
I quickly learned of the all too common reality of administration and insurance restraints dictating the care I could provide to my patients.
I remember the excitement and empowerment I felt after that training and it makes me so sad to think about how that was squashed as soon as I was told "sorry, we can't do that here..."
Many clinicians go into private practice for the flexibility and financial opportunities, but honestly, the freedom to practice how you see fit and treat your patients in the way that you KNOW is best... I don't think it gets better than that.
The fulfillment that I found in treating private clients that I could see as often as I needed to, that I could use the best therapy protocol that I knew was the perfect fit for them, that I could serve without restrictions or red tape...
THAT was what my SLP heart needed.
And that was when I knew I'd never work for another facility that didn't give me that same fulfillment ever again.
