Thank you ,since I changed my IACV,my truck has been holding a steady 1000 rpm at ldle .l didn't know about dialing in or out the tip.Am anxious to try this on my 98 ram.Hope it works It took me many videos to find this fix. Thanks again.
Hi. I realize this video is spot on for the high idle problems. My question is, about the red oring, @2:07 , is the 0ring in the correct place? I put the ,03 Deville, 0ring back farther towards the mounting flange . Still fast idle. My old one was black and dried out alot. I did the battery disconnect 2 times. I am thinking I didn't put it together right. What do you think please?
Rob, I never moved the red O ring. It came out like that and a new one came with the part I ordered from Amazon in the same place. Have you replaced that part? I would deffinately try that. Sorry I could not be more help.
I did this and even bought that new part and nothing changed. On my car it was the boot that connects the intake to the throttle body it had a cut in the boot
So I just changed thermostat on 2000 Chevy Malibu, drained, flushed, and bled air from coolant system, and as soon as I finished....I know that I inadvertent caused another problem ...(and solved overheating and blowing cold air problem)I got a check engine light with a po507...but, idle would go too low....almost stall....I figure it will probably be that gasket on air intake that fell apart when getting to thermostat...I hope anyway...if not I will go to the valve and keep the spindle in and out thing in mind along with the battery negative cable removed..thanks for the info
Good video glad to see people still enjoying these old cars! I have 2005 and the cruise control keeps staying on after I hit brakes, so I guess this might have some thing to do with it ?
@jameswhite1319 Its possible but I doubt it. I would try disconnecting the battery for a few hours and seeing if that resets it. I never had that issue with my Deville.
Hey I believe that it’s the this part , I whated to ask did you have to set this new part or did you just put it in and go ? I seen other videos that you have to adjust it before you replace it? Just asking thanks again for sharing! Ps I have the same car
Okay hear this. Maybe you have some advice. I have a 2004 Cadillac deville. 1. It self accelerates. Not by much but still. 2. I absolutely cannot have the MAF sensor plugged it. If it is plugged in, it tries to kill my car. 3. It’s been doing the rpm ramping forever. Only recently is it getting worse. So I bought this part. Now I’m curious to know if after I replace it, my car will start to need the MAF sensor to be plugged in. 🤔
what if i'm having the same issues but not all the time only sometimes but everyday pretty much, after a while of driving it starts doing that, throttle body had alot of built up oil on it
Ok so I've been having idling problems. I bought idle control sensor it was bad I exchanged it for another and guess what it was bad too. So I put the 3rd one on but it didn't help. Now my car stays idled so high it's hard to get it stop and when I let my foot off the break my car will take off shifting up till over drive. I'm also have transmission problems that I just learned could be from the high rpms. It is hard shifting when it decides to shift. Also slipping in and out of gear when in overdrive. Please help!
I've been having the same issue on my 04 DeVille 140k I can't take it anymore (especially since I'm straight piped). How did you manage to unscrew those screws holding the IAC valve!? I've tried with many screw drivers always gave up. I have time this weekend and want to see if this Finally lowers my idle I just haven't been able to unscrew the IAC.
ATG on mine it was a bolt head 6mm or so. If you are looking at a screw head someone other than the factory put it there. Good luck, sorry i couldn't be more help.
Maybe try tapping on the (phillips) screw driver end while turning it, making it act as an "impact wrench". This is useful for getting off really tight screws.
Yes I did. However your problem could be the opposite of the one I had. Your idle air controler might be stuck closed instead of open, limiting what your idle RPM is

@steveandrews8301 GM Engineering! LOL, no idea.... in all seriousness though, disconnecting the battery from the car is the only true way to get a reset on the electrical system.
@steveandrews8301 Anything controlled by a computer has the capacity of crashing and needing to be reset...look at MS Windows, lol. To answer your question, though, I have no idea why these things happen, but I know why they do. That's why i am a fan of older car / truck platforms that have less reliance on computers or none at all.

Yes that can be a cause to. I saw several other videos covering that. I wanted to make this one to cover the throttle body and idol air control.

Please post if that was the case. Someone else had a tear in the throttle body rubber boot that was causing the issue. Hope it gets worked out!
@@jamesc.3524 I will let you all know....whatever I find...I know I caused it so I’m thinking I knocked a hose seal loose behind the plug wires...

More likely the brake switch is out of adjustment, displaced (Knocked off its mount), or bad.

I wouldn't think so. See if fixing to idle air control solves your problem. If it does, then plug in the MAF sensor and see what happens.
