      Me too. Never got the hate for it until I got on the internet and saw people talking smack about it.

      The original trilogy is amazing. And Temple of Doom, in my personal opinion, is the peak of Indy. It was completely different than Raiders and I applaud Spielberg and Lucas for taking a chance on something completely new with an established character. It was darker and brutal to be sure, claustrophobic even, but at the same time it was so much fun. The final 45 minutes or so is one spectacular action setpiece after another. It never lets up, and the cudetah is the mine cart chase. Wow! And no CGI. All stunts, the way it should be.

    It's a very strange thing to me to hear someone say Mola Ram is unmemorable when he is the only Indiana Jones villain I'm aware of they've made big collectibles of.

    • @gregmeyer1805
      @gregmeyer1805 6 місяців тому +3

      Exactly! Mola Ram doesn't even show up until halfway through the film and easily becomes the most memorable, the most sinister, the most evil. All the people in the temple have a song in which they are chanting his name even lol

    • @TheSacredStones
      @TheSacredStones 6 місяців тому +1

      That's a fact. I don't know anyone who's a fan of Indy that doesn't know who Mola Ram is. The whole movie was memorable.

    Doug also has some interesting philosophies. For example, he had one interesting philosophy about comedy. In his own words:
    "I think comedy is a defense mechanism. Because after all, humor is based on misery. If you didn't have humor in your life, all you would is sit around and constantly feel bad about the things that are happening around you. Comedy helps you cope with the bad things that are happening around you."
    He does make a good point there.

    I have to completely disagree with you, Matt, for saying you're "not a good reviewer." There's a reason why people come to you with requests all the time. You're the most honest reviewer on UA-cam.
    In comparison to most of the people on UA-cam, you actually watch the entire movie you review and give an in-depth summary of it. Someone like Jeremy Jahns gives a couple minutes of jump cuts and will just say "watch it if you're drunk." You'll go over the whole plot, characters, music, and lines you enjoyed. When AVGN did his Godzillathon he didn't go in the depth that you did for each movie. His reviews were mostly stupid like "skip to the end" for Destroy All Monsters.
    You deserve a lot of credit for how many hours you put into what you do. We appreciate it.

    They don't mention Dan Aykroyd is in this as Art Webber? I mean he was already familiar with Spielberg due to being in 1941 and the Twilight Zone movie (yeah he was in the segment directed by George Miller, he shows up at the end, he's in the beginning before the Vic Morrow segment) and to a lesser extent the Liberian Girl music video where he shows up at the end (and Spielberg does too). Then again Aykroyd was also in 'We Are The World', he was cast in there by accident.

    I actually like the videos where its doug and rob talking about the movie or show and sometimes I enjoy it more than nostalgia critic reviews, my only complaint is doug needs or needed I guess to take ritalin or something similar cause more often than not in those videos he would get too excited and scream over rob sometimes and its like dude calm the hell down cause he dont act that way when he does the NC so I guess that is real life doug coming to the surface.

    Well... to each their own Matt. But I'll always have a respect for Doug. I mean, if it wasn't for him, than I probably wouldn't have even started watching people like you, and Mike, and Fabio, and so and so forth. Cause Doug was literally the first internet reviewer I ever watched. And thus, because I watched him, that opened me up to start watching other internet reviewers on here. And that ultimately lead to me coming across people like you, and Mike, and Fabio, and so on and so forth.
    I think people like you are way too hard on the guy. I recently talked to him on a livestream, and he was honestly really nice. I know a lot of people hate him because of the Change the Channel stuff, and things like that, but honestly, I think Doug has openly acknowledged that... he fucked up. He made a mistake. And I'm sure he's learned to accept the responsibilities of his actions.
    I mean honestly, if I had to choose between watching Doug Walker or Chris Stuckman, I'd honestly choose Doug any day.
    Although I have tbh with you, nowadays, Doug kind of looks like Homer Simpson. Because he doesn't wear glasses anymore because he got lasik, he's bald, and has facial hair.

    Cant criticize Willie for the annoying screeching and screaming while giving a pass to the lead girl in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre who does nothing but annoying screeching and screaming in the 3rd act. That was far worse IMO.
