You can be down on rodgers but for nick to say the jets won't be getting a huge upgrade a qb is WILD. He compared Zach wilson to a unicyclist trying to play football if rodgers is just average that's a huge upgrade
For real, I don't think he'll be very good this year, but if he's the 20th best starter in the league, it's a huge improvement on the Jets last couple years. Sometimes I feel like people on sports shows refuse to acknowledge that two things can be true at once.

By itself it's not a big deal... but this isn't an isolated incident. For the last few years it's ALWAYS something with Rodgers. He is the uncrowned Drama Queen of the NFL and all of it's is his own doing.

"his last great game was 3 years ago" Nov 13, 2022. Rodgers last yr in GB, he threw for 3 TDs, 224 yrds and a 146 passer rating in a 31-28 win over Dallas. Thats a near perfect game. A "300" game isnt a benchmark of a good game. You can just as easily throw for 350+ have 1 TDs and 3 INs. The anti-Rodgers bias is wild. Thank god Greg, despite his issues with Aaron, isnt a total hack.

No one, in ANY sport, has ever played a full season coming of a torn achilles in his mid 30's or older. NO ONE. In fact, even in their early 30s, they haven't, nevermind a soon to be 41 year old. Neither he nor Cousins will finish the season. They'll be lucky to play half a season. Look it up. No one ever has at their ages.

At this stage, Aaron Rodgers isn't buying into anything. He expects everyone else to buy into whatever he plans. Luckily and shockingly, Jets management understood and accepted the assignment when they landed him. Otherwise, the Jets have no chance of getting anything out of him.
Rodgers in 2022 had a 77.5 pff. 3700 yds, 11th, 26 tds, 7th, and 12 ints, 7th.
Mahomes, 85 pff last season threw for 4200 yds, 6th, 27 tds, 8th, 14 ints, 4th
500 yds matters but like it isnt a stratosphere difference. Mahomes was obviously still elite but nick acting like rodgers wasnt a top 10 qb in 2022 is just dishonest.
You can project whatever but 2022 aaoron rodgers would make the jets a worthy contender.

Rodgers last season in Green Bay was his worst as a starter. Last season in KC, was Mahomes' worst statistically. Interesting to note that they both had similar numbers in their worst season.
Yet somehow, with a defense that is better than KC's, if Rodgers can just be anywhere from 10-15th best QB in the league. The Jets have a chance to make a deep run in the post-season. I'm sure Nick knows this, and hates it.
I guess mandatory has a different meaning in the NFL. If it doesn't really matter, why even do it at all? Just pull it and make an actual mandatory date to begin training.
