tips, are the best thing any uber driver can receive!!! Some nights I make more in cash tips than I do my actual fare!!! Customer service is #1 to getting a tip, i feel, and making the passenger comfortable, IE don't avoid long awkward silences, like Uberman said it's fun, way more fun than I could have ever thought!!! Suit yourself to your primary customer. Mine is college students going out, if your tailoring your rides towards airport pick-ups you need to be dressed very sharply, I can get away with looking like a college kid, and being professional, because of my actions when I pick them up, which makes them feel comfortable taking rides from me and gives me a big advantage over others I feel, also I don't want riders to worry about petty things like safety so although it sounds weird drive grandpa n grandma style when you have passengers, for their safety, personally I drive like a bat out of hell to go get them though after i get that ping :)!

in this industry were I average after only uber`s fees and gas about $9 to $10 an hour working 9 to 11 hours shifts , if I get $20 or $40 in tips ,it represents 2 or 4 hours or more of saving my ass of painful driving!... I will be looking in to this!... like you said ,if it does not affect the ratings ,why not? Thanks again for great video!

FUCk-um....I just started driving 2 days ago, I drove my ass off (more than 25 riders) but didn't get a single tip. I am not gonna give any more 5 star ratings if I don't get a tip. I would support a revolt against uber if they don't start to say "please tip your driver" in their adds.

at the end of every trip tell the pax they are getting 5 stars, you'll see that they get a smile on their faces and your rating starts going up, I know it works because when I just tell them "have a nice day" my ratings starts to go down, the only time that this works less than 50% of the time is when I get drunk people.

If it wasnt for the tips i would quit a long time ago. I didn't get big tips till i put my tip jar out that said. Tip appreciated! Uber drivers make a small percentage of the trips. The riders need to be informed we dont make as much as they think we do. I been making 5 to 15 dollars tips all time now even on 1 mile short rides. Definitely put a tip jar out and thank anyone who tips you but never beg. Uber hardly pays anything on short rides so they can eat a dick. Tips are awesome.

I was just suspended from Uber for using a profile picture that wasn't me. Uber gave me no warning to remove the profile picture. The suspension happened right out of the blue. It's been 2 days and I'm still waiting for a replay from Uber. My word to the rest of you...don't drive for Uber. Instead you might want to try and drive for Lyft. At least you get to talk to real humans instead of some inhuman robot who could care less about us humans.

I never tell them that tipping is not required, unless they ask me how tipping works in Uber, for the rates we are getting in NJ, tipping should be a requirement, sometimes I feel that we are competing with NJ transit to say the least.
and don't get me started on the cheap bastards that get driven for more than 30minutes and just leave the car like I should be tipping him for driving him/her home.

I say "Thank you very much!" and accept the tip. Uber already tells our passengers not to tip so much that hardly anyone ever tips anymore. Working full time 5 or 6 days a week and over 40 hours, the most tips I've gotten totaled $30 for the entire week. I have signs right now, but I'm going to buy a tip jar/box soon. Taxi costs 2.5x the price of an Uber X, which is what my car qualifies for. They're saving tons of money, don't have to deal with a foreigner. choose the music, can charge their phones, etc. Tipping should be for good service, not tied to the price of the ride. Cheap asses lol

Are you dumb or stupid....the longer a uber driver leaves the app running the more he makes, just like a meter in a taxi. I still use cabs myself because I have my regular cabbies haul me where I have to go. I tip them well and they treat me well and pickup and drop off is always on time early or right on time and they charge me less of a fare then normal so they can pocket more money themselves, therefore taking care of a driver or 2 that can't even afford to go buy a car to work for uber....which in fact has cut taxi drivers out of money but that's a whole different story. With your comment you sound like you broke and yelled and complained about cabbies driving you the long way and you're probably just punching in free promo codes for the uber rides and threw in the I almost always tip 15 dollars but sometime but sometimes 10...hahah and you know the difference between uber riders and lyft as one being broke and not the other hahah...What happened...do you use lyft when you get your govt. check and uber when you spent it all waiting on the next one ...say thank you now to me and all the other tax payers that you learned how to scam 😂 I bet we paid for your wedding too bahaha

You do realize that telling people or hinting at them that tipping is not required is hurting not only yourself but other drivers as well?
Uber is already pre programming it's customers not to tip by telling them it's not required. Why on earth would you not just take the money and say thank you very much?
Think about the 1st time rider. Once you tell them they don't have to tip...they will no longer ever tip any future drivers again. They don't want to risk being told by another driver not to tip. It simply will never come up again.
You are hurting the uber Driving Community with this advice. My advice to you is take the tip, say thank you, and go about your business

    • @AutoAuctionRebuilds

    • @ProWrestlingGamer

+Uber Man This is true but the fact of the matter is you are programming Uber riders to feel like tipping is not required.
Tips mean gas support for drivers, gas support means more ubering, more ubering means more money for uber and it's drivers. My suggestion to anyone reading this is...don't listen to Ubermans advice on this matter.
It's hurting all of you....take your tips, express gratitude in return, and leave it at that.
      NEVER discourage the customer....

Personally in this day and age, with the economy the way it is,when someone is polite, and gets you to your destination safely,a person should feel that a tip is in order,If they can afford to be driven around, they can darn well afford a tip.I just couldn't imagine getting out of that vehicle, especially knowing the struggle, and if they were kind ,and professional, not insisting they accept a tip.I think it's classy that you don't make people feel like it's required, but if someone has any kind of empathy,or a moral compass, they should definitely tip.Restaurants, and waitresses are brutal for that, sometimes they just add their own tip right into the bill, like who do they think they are?,what if the service was not up to my standards? that's up to me to decide, sometimes I tip big,and sometimes not so much,it really does vary on service. When another human being is catering to you,and making you feel special,or are being very kind, then they are going to get rewarded big,and they deserve it,no matter the occupation,i.e driver, waitress, nail technician, and so forth.Anyway,I like your videos, and I like your manners, and I hope you get blessed with some huge tips in the very near future, good luck.

+nuclearsummer "I didn't start using Uber so I could pay MORE money." ... You realize you'd have to give your driver an insane tip ($15-20) just to MATCH the cost of a Taxi, right? Even if you tip $5-10, you still paid less for an Uber than you would've a Taxi. Us drivers pay for our own gas and maintenance, and keep our vehicles clean. That costs a lot of money. The fares being so cheap means it's difficult to earn a decent income after all the expenses, and on top of all of that Uber takes 25% of every single fare... We need tips.

Yes you may accept cash tips as an independent contracted UBER driver (UBER was sued for over 100 million because of the tip issue )It's illegal for UBER to tell you may not accept tips especially when you're not an UBER employee and you own the car. Likewise with passengers, they may tip the driver. Many passengers think that the tips are included in the fare which is not. I advise drivers to post a sign in the car explaining to the passengers that they have been wrongly informed and they can tip in cash if they wish to do so.

Drove a Lyft passenger to Magic Mtn from LAX. Over 1 hr on the road as a 1 way trip. Return waa little more than 1hr. Guess what??? NO TIP. I think the industry has "Brainwashed" the public that tipping is not required, as it is built into the pricing. Would they take a taxi and NOT give the driver a tip? Probably not. Would they go to a restaurant and not leave a tip? Probably not. SO WHY DO THEY TREAT US WITH SO MUCH DISRESPECT?

    Hi Randy,
In a lot of cultures it is very common to bring gifts to a visit, tip for service etc. It would be highly offensive to refuse one of these folk’s tips. Unfortunaley UBER advertises this “no cash” stuff. I’d recommend that a driver get a “square” or some other way to put a tip on a credit card and have that available for the folks that “only have three 100 bills” and aligator arms LOL.

To all the people and Uber::: It's the riders choice if they want to tip it's fine and if they don't it's fine. Why Uber is not allowing the drivers to take tips? Is Uber making those tips? No not at all. Tipping is a personal choice...I will tip a uber driver if their car is clean, if they have beautiful fragrance in the car, if they have all charging system, they carry water and drives good....AND SOMETIMES I HEAR SAD STORIES OF UBER DRIVERS SO I TIP THEM I FEEL BAD FOR PEOPLE.....I mean $1 or $3 will not make a difference to us if we tip anyone! WE TIP BECAUSE WE ARE HAPPY OR SOMEBODY GIVES A GOOD SERVICE.....SO REALLY TIPPING SHOULD BE A PERSONAL CHOICE FOR RIDERS AND NO ONE SHOULD SAY NO TO TIPS IF SOMEBODY TIPS TAKE IT 😊😊😊

I bought an illuminated tip box with 4 USB ports for mobile charging on Etsy and it's like a money printing machine. It includes a nice placard with the Uber-compliant message about gratuity not being required. As soon as I installed it in my car, tipping went from being an occasional rare treat to being a routine part of any given ride. They just put the money in the box without a word. The riders like it (as evidenced by my 4.94 rating) and I don't roll without it.

The solution is rather simple. Organize. ALL Uber drivers kick in $20 per month to support the co-op organizer. The organizer can then stop driving but sets up a communication platform for ALL drivers in each state. Negotiations are then opened with The higher ups. If reasonable rates are not re-administered to the general public the organizer calls a one day work stoppage in one market. Costing Uber or Lyft tens of thousands of dollars. This is not a union because a trust fund must be set up enabling drivers to ask for deductible money should they have an accident. That money will be supplied up to $500 which does two things. It should keep greed in check since the organizer will not be in a big money position The most important is the organizer cannot be corrupt. He cannot be anything other than someone wanting to see justice dealt to all drivers since this service is good overall and is here to stay. Secondly, this keeps the co-op clean and not classified as a union. Uber needs to be smacked around a few times each year until they learn what they should have read about in history books regarding unions and their effectiveness in the early 20th century. No wealthy persons in history ever got there alone. Drivers are in fact: The most important entity in the rideshare business and it's too bad the Travises of the world are blindly leading their companies to destruction.

text I think it should be added to the card to Uber and an Uber take that amount depending if they're screaming or yelling at the customer because the customer or the Uber driver should not have that problem but Uber driver should not have no noise distract them to go to their destinations faithfully and I also think that you guys do need a meeting and I think that you need to make a uber Mart that I stressed it's badly so next time at chillers terrorism or anything is not make your mark something like a gold and white and black something unique where they cannot just take it say they're Uber drivers and they're not and other things like we have it on another page boundaries against Uber drivers the Uber person that pays Uber drivers you telling me drivers you're Your Own Boss you know how it is when hey you got what you know highest Bop now you don't think but it went to your head then you start getting stuff like that and then you realize hey I am by a regular person would do this I have to do what I have to do to make this Uber company run right plus there needs to be a meeting after I seen the videos that I see autism people do right over and write hands and customer yelling or whatever for the driver like I said if the driver doesn't like the person chat a little bit make sure they're comfortable get them to their destination comfortable nothing being thrown out the window make a note of that whatever you say and whatever I can help you there should be boundaries like I said customer even though it's computer right without that payroll person they wouldn't get paid okay now the check should go on the card you guys and then the church should go them and their check through the computer right and like I said make sure if you're getting ripped off sometimes like that hey put down payment charge them only one time for the car and take the rest of the payment I don't charge the other seat papers not that much at Office Max Depot and it was better and I think and my phone number 313-88264119 for one one 28809Michelle Sanders sign off

This is the biggest drawback for driving for UBER and the whole situation has me baffled. Why won't UBER add a tip option to their application ?. They say that it is inclusive, but we know that it is not, and if it was they have no business taking a percentage of it, which is why they are in court and apparently losing as a result of it. If the class action suits are ultimately successful, the court could very well order them to pay back retroactively for all the stolen tips.
What has me baffled though, is why UBER is so stubborn on this issue. What would it cost them to add a tip option ? Do they really think they would lose market share as a result of this option ?. With rates being less then bus or Subway fare in many cities, I do not how understand how adding a 10 to 15% gratuity would hurt them at all. It would certainly help the drivers.
So what is UBER's reason for not doing it ? Would love feedback.
Incidentally, for those that might now be aware, Passengers are absolutely 100% convinced that they are NOT suppose to tip. If you are getting even 10% of your fares tipping, you are doing well. I have had passengers that I have befriended, made real long lasting friendships. They might praise you up and down, and you might appear as their best man at their wedding, or meet your future wife, yet at the end of the ride, no tip is forthcoming ! Why ? Because they are told not too ! and it feels awkward and inappropriate asking them, which I never do.

I just say that is not necessary to the tune of a 55 dollar tip on a 40 dollar fare last night I tried to refuse more than once but they wouldnt hear it as I got them out of a huge bind. I basically delivered car keys and I didnt have a rider I just took the keys from his wife at their home to a guy that lost his at midnight and had no way home.

I've got much more info on Uber from UM than the company. Thank you Randy. I did not drive the first part of this year while Uber Eats was introduced. In LA,Ca. It can easily be a time eater. Very seldom due they tip and many times they expect office delivery which brings in parking issues and more time. I feel tipping should always be involved when someone is handling my personal food.UM what is your position and knowledge on this new feature.

UberEats is not in my market as of yet. I feel the customer could meet you at the door, especially if it requires you to pay for parking, or around the block. Tipping should 100% be given if you provided timely service. I will try UberEats when it comes to my area. I've heard many people say it is working out very well for them. You're more than welcome, I love helping when I can.

Don't understand Uber's attitude to tipping especially in USA. Surely having tipping as an option is reasonable especially in a service industry. Uber should include a tipping option in the app. I'm a taxi driver in Sydney and we have taxi apps that display an optional tip incentive when job is flashed. Customer rationalizes that by offering a tip their job will be quickly filled. Of course the surge is an incentive on UberX but that is not controlled by the customer.
