Earlier in 2018, Columbus Percussion owner (and Noble & Cooley artist), Jim Rupp, toured through the Noble & Cooley factory with owner Jay Jones. Located in rural Massachusetts, Noble & Cooley was founded in 1854 making it possibly the oldest drum company in America!
Join Jay and Jim in this video as Jay takes Jim through some of the great history of Noble & Cooley. Jay then shows us the full process of creating one of their beautiful steam bent snare drums...starting with just a wood plank!
Enjoy this great inside look at one of America's oldest drum companies making some of the nicest drums on the market!
Columbus Percussion stocks Noble & Cooley drums so if you ever want to try some out in person, come see us sometime!
We can also help you order your own custom Noble & Cooley drum set to your own specs. Call us with any of your Noble & Cooley questions: 614.885.7372
Do you own a Noble & Cooley snare drum or drum set? What Noble & Cooley drum is your favorite?
Let us know in the comments!

Outstanding video. I'm not even a drummer; I just rode by the factory on my bike this summer. Very well done. Thanks to Noble & Cooley and Columbus Percussion for posting.

this is the most bizarrely awesome thing I've ever seen... what an incredible set of themes... irony, surprise, legacy, pride, regionality, business and human genius. NOW I GET it and finally understand why these drums are true artistic statements of craft and why they are small. this man is the freaking rain man of drums . Every drummer I know who can affirord an N&C drum, should have one. stuff like this has all but dissapeared in this world. I cherish mine everyday! hope to take that tour someday.

A friend of mine up here in the local midcoast Maine open mic night scene showed up one night to play drums and brought his new kit to show us. He decided his old vintage ludwigs needed to be retired at home from the gigging life and he get the new kit of his dreams. He had just bought a beautiful Noble and Cooley kit in a natural finish. He insisted I get up and sit in on them. Man did they sound great! Plus my friend is great at tuning so he got them sounding amazing. I love the old factory and the hand craftsmanship. Such a great company. If I could afford any kit it would be a N&C for sure.

Must admit I've never heard of this company though I played drums for about 35 years. I would feel right at home in the workshop. I grew up on in a woodworking family and loved it - the smell of the wood and all that old well built machinery. Good stuff. Great sounding drums and nice playing too.

I have wanted to own a Noble and Cooley drum ever since seeing Chris Whitten with his N&C kit in a drum magazine. this was in the 80's, but it'd not until very recently (this month) that I finally purchased one; a 14x5 maple made in 2019. I knew that it would be a great snare drum, but I honestly did not expect it to dethrone the Craviotto (it's sulking upstairs, like a scene from Toy Story it is :-) ) I cannot put my finger on it, but right now it is my favourite snare drum ( I have 24, 23 unhappy snare drums) it has something special that belies its size and looks.
