One interesting thing to note since I just literally got one of these and none of the videos I've seen mentioned this - one of the very first things mentioned in their provided cooking tips manual is searing meats on Broil Mode for 3-5 minutes after probe cooking.
I am a super early bird backer and I received my Chefmaker. It works as advertised. The steaks are amazing. I haven’t tried veggies or chicken yet but will do that soon.
Great Video, glad to see veggies as well as meats. For RIBS, If you download the app to your phone and follow the directions, it does add BBQ sauce and broil at 450 for a few minutes at the end, after the machine says Finished. It also gave dry rub ingredients at the beginning. Would like to see some other recipes from the app, and your opinion on those.
Geez being an ad or not this is a cool air fryer, and me as a busy gal see myself having one of these for sure. Love that the machine comes with some instructions and multiple features for good cooking :) I wouldn’t have to ask google anymore
AI engineer here, you don’t need AI for all this or to achieve a good cooking machine, this stuff has been dialed in since the 60s. I would be extremely skeptical of any AI claims, including the fact that the machine probably doesn’t have enough processing power.
One problem with most air fryers is you can only make one dish at a time. So you still need to be using a stove top, regular oven or a portable unit to cook other dishes for a meal.
This is a great idea for the home cook. This technology,as mentioned, has been in professional kitchens for awhile but the price point even for the countertop models is well above your average home cook. If they are able to pull this off at this price point it will be a game changer. My years in professional kitchens does not transfer always amazingly over into time constraints at home with kids and other factors. Love this. I’ll give it try for sure.
That's much my thought. I used combi cookers in culinary school, but most home kitchens don't have the option. Since I don't already have an air fryer, and I'd seen enough demos, I did the early bird discount on Day 1.
@@marshmallowmann20 Not quite. There's a reason for the water tank - steam. What a combi oven allows is for precision. In a restaurant, The Rational full size combi ovens runs for about 25 grand. This is a mini version of that and I'm looking forward to putting the machine through its paces.
I had this ages ago, I'm on my second one infact...the Cuisinart steam convection oven. Americans were too cheap to purchase that unit when it was out though, hopefully it takes off this time.
This just seems like another gimmick. Par results for a premium. A nicely sized regular air fryer, convection oven, or pellet grill can give better results without the gimmicks.
Mike, for years you have given us valuable insight and a deep dive into your world of culinary adventures. Things happen and while criticism may be given, you continue to fill a void for MILLIONS on this platform. Still and forever will ride with you and the PHC kitchen. Here's to more memories and recipes together!
This type of appliance was never really intended to cook for a family of four in one go. This type of thing is really best for a single person or couple who just CBA with the process of cooking but still want good results after a long day at work.
I needed this in 2008 when I moved into my first apartment. Would have been perfect because I barely knew how to cook and didn't take the time to learn. I (poorly) cooked steaks and did crock pot meals sometimes. Did the boxed meals occasionally. Pizza kits. Looking back it was pretty sad how I chose food. That all changed once I learned how to bake bread during the pandemic. Was a chain reaction of learning and your channel partly contributed to my huge interest in actually cooking. So thank you :) Good job on the video - i mean it was really clear it was one big #ad from the get go but I don't mind. I enjoy your cadence and pick up on off-the-cuff stuff you mention.
Considering you have to cook in several batches, meaning either one person is eating while the other person is waiting for their food to cook in the 2nd batch, I know if I had one of these it would end up collecting dust while I went back to the stove or oven where I could cook the whole families food together - not in batches. Doesn't really end up being much of a time saver unless you're cooking for one.
Okay, you’re the second youtuber I have seen testing this product, first one was the guys from Sorted. The company who made this definitely has money for marketing!
I´ve been watching your shows for a while and I love the delivery, knowledge and edition. However, please include celsius readings in ALL your videos please!! The rest of the world and potential subscribers will appreciate it. Thanks.
Hi, does the cooking process allow you to flip the steak during the browning phase to get even browning top and bottom? Or would interrupting to cooking process to flip the steak bugger up the process?
maybe you didn't get a great result with the ribs cause the prob may have been touching the foil, giving a higher reading to the machine, maiking it finish earlier than it should, just an idea. The other proteins i think were great, really cool piece of equipment!
So... can it do small loves of sourdough bread? That's my big question. With the steam oven capabilities, maybe? If it could, that would make the baking process for sourdough a LOT easier!
Mike have you tried the pampered chef air fryer? I have a family and I need more capacity than the typical air fryer. The dual layer seems amazing and the basket that spins for fries? However I am worried because so few reviews seem to exist, they are a much smaller company so I worry about buying a $300 air fryer...
Geez, first Guga, then Sonny from ThatDudeCanCook, now you, all doing full length sponsored glowing product endorsements for this thing. I’ve gotta say, I’m getting more and more convinced to never purchase anything from Dreo, and just wait for another company, that doesn’t throw a bunch of cash at content creators to create sketchy advertisements, to release a similar device. Yup, I’m convinced.
medium rare?, a little bit medium well for me. I was a little underwhelmed with the uneven browning, especially with the cauliflower, and the steak. I think they have a bit more developing to do but an exciting concept.
Good review. It was apparent to me that you were testing a prototype so I did not worry too much about it. It seems you gave an honest review and I like the breadth of your testing. I received mine from Kickstarter and I’ll do my first cook tomorrow
Stupid question here. Noting the water tank you’re washing the produce from?? Rain capture, or…..??? Any sanitation going on before that valve you’re washing your food in?? Just wondering if there’s any concerns of pathogens being passed to your food?
Get ready for STICKER SHOCK when someone who is not a you tube cook and dosen't get this thing for free- Way too expensive for me, I'll just stick with my Cosori Dual Blaze, thank you.
I think the retail is a bit much, but I took advantage of the Day 1 pre-order, and I think that discounted rate is a good price compared to what is out there already.

@@RonJDuncan Dreo is a known brand, but not for the chef maker (this you tube video), pre order for $250.00+++, or wait for the release and pay $350.00+++- NOT ME!!!
@@bricebeach3756 When I said Dreo was a known brand, I meant that they already have air fryers currently on the market. That's why I didn't hesitate. Also, $199 was the day one price - which is a price that I think is worth it for a combi cooker. I used large restaurant combi cookers in culinary school, so when this was first announced, it had my attention because steam cooking provides for a few additional options that I don't otherwise have in my home kitchen. I also don't already have an air fryer, though I've considered it. Based on what you have, if you're happy with it, be happy with it. I just think the criticism of how Dreo went about this is just a little over the top.
If you could combine the "brains" of the Dreo, with a few improvements, with the top and bottom heating elements of the Cosori you would have the perfect airfryer.
First video of yours I won't even entertain the idea of continuing to watch. Ads this blatant need to be disclosed upfront *in the video*. Really shows a lack of integrity by trying to stuff it in the comments to be missed by anyone who doesn't read them. It isn't even mentioned in the video description, the area dedicated for text content about the video *by the creator*.
After seeing something like this on the market now, I cannot wait to see this incorporated into ovens. I am running out of counter space! Great review, very cool product!
Have you seen the "French Door" style Air Fryer. I am genuinely interested in it, but can't find any trusted reviews on it. Would love it if you could take that on!
I've seen other videos of this machine and while he does a pretty decent job there are others that I think do it a bit more justice. One thing I will say is that hopefully in the future, especially for steak that they add at least the option to sear on one side, pause then sear on the other because yes the bottom would be very nice to have seared as well.
I wonder if they have a sear-less steak mode. Might make more sense to sear the steak yourself if you would have to go through the trouble of flipping the steak halfway through.
@@WARnTEA So if you sear the steak yourself you don't flip it? I think the point is for the most part you put it in and forget it. I'm thinking of cooking it sv style like in the video and waiting till the end and then just popping it back in for a few minutes on broil on the other side after it's done.
@@brazil7028 I think you are underestimating how much effort it would take to be near the airfryer and then flip it and fiddle with the buttons to turn broil on and wait another 5 minutes. It'd be ideal if this airfryer really was set it and forget it, but unfortunately that isn't the case, so why not use that extra time to make a better tasting end product. There are two possible ways to sear it outside of the airfryer that would take a minimal amount of time or effort. As long as you have a pan that can handle high heat like a cast iron or carbon steel then searing shouldn't take more than 5-6minutes and like 4 of that is waiting for the pan to heat up on medium high, since it only takes like 30seconds per side to sear a steak. The first way is that you throw the pan on the burner to preheat first and then you take that time to prep everything like changing out the fryer basket to the grill version, and getting seasonings out. The benefit to this is that the steak will be finished cooking after the timer goes off. Potentially you could even account for the sear that the airfry adds at the end and purposely not sear the top side of the steak. The risk is that I don't if the end product will be any good. Searing the other sides before cooking might hurt the airfryers ability to cook it, or it might make it even better. Since this product uses a probe to cook the meat it will probably turn out good but, its an unknown that we won't know until we try it. The second version is doing a reverse sear by searing it at the end. For this version you cook it in the airfryer without the built in sear, and then before it finishes cooking you start preheating the pan, and working on the other side dishes you planned to serve with the steak. The benefit of this method is that there is very little wasted time assuming that you have side dishes to work on and finish up, and on top of that your food will just taste better. By searing it at the end you can use butter and rosemary or something like that to sear it and even spoon some butter on top to take it to the next level. Since the meat is already hot it will take even less time to sear than if done before cooking. The steak will need some time to rest anyway, so its not a big deal to spend an extra minute at the end to clean and reseason the cast iron/carbon steel pan.
i wonder how much it will be when it comes out because if you can buy a solid air fryer for $100 im not spending $500 on one that can cook with a probe which i can practice a couple of times and always set at the same temp and time and achieve the same

Dreo is having food tubers shill for them. Don't listen to the hype is a sentiment I agree with.
I've made perfectly acceptable burgers in my Cosori Lite. Honestly, I liked this channel better when it was just Mike cooking things that anyone would have in their fridge or pantry. Now it's all about homesteading, having what you want in your perfectly-tended garden that never seems to have deer or rabbits eating it all, and chickens that don't get killed by coyotes....punctuated by product placement, not all of which is disclosed (like this).
Mike, you've taught me a lot. I'm glad you've been so successful, but I wish you'd occasionally go back to your roots which is where most people actually life -- without elaborate gardens and every gadget known to man.
Thank the comments. I skipped the video after reading that its about a Kickstarter product that's not even going to be available in my country.
do you think you could throw the steak back in the other way to get it done well on both sides, or would that over cook it?
I cooked a rib eye steak following your instructions and it was AMAZING!
Why not just say it's sponsored from the start?
Would be really nice to know which of your previous videos have also been sponsored?
By staying silent people assume the worst and you lose credibility.
One interesting thing to note since I just literally got one of these and none of the videos I've seen mentioned this - one of the very first things mentioned in their provided cooking tips manual is searing meats on Broil Mode for 3-5 minutes after probe cooking.
I like to powder my steak with some cornstarch, baking powder and smoked paprika after the dry brine, for a little extra crispy.
I am a super early bird backer and I received my Chefmaker. It works as advertised. The steaks are amazing. I haven’t tried veggies or chicken yet but will do that soon.
Just got mine, i notice it cook faster than the estimated time, is that right? The medium well cook steak look rare to medium to me.
I’m getting one of these as soon as it’s available!!!!
Geez being an ad or not this is a cool air fryer, and me as a busy gal see myself having one of these for sure. Love that the machine comes with some instructions and multiple features for good cooking :) I wouldn’t have to ask google anymore
allright, they all gave you one of their oven and you're hyping it, how original
Wow a single, bang average looking steak in just thirty minutes in a machine with an extortionate price tag. The AI revolution.
Yeah. Ridiculous.
My air fryer has two seperate baskets with their own timings and heat settings.
Love seeing where the tech is headed.
Since I don't already have an air fryer, and I'd seen enough demos, I did the early bird discount on Day 1.
why wouldn't they be able to do this. this is basically just an airfryer with an integrated thermostat
@@marshmallowmann20 Ya by “pull it off”
I mean all the precision and quality of a Combi at this price point for the average home cook.
I had this ages ago, I'm on my second one infact...the Cuisinart steam convection oven. Americans were too cheap to purchase that unit when it was out though, hopefully it takes off this time.
Agree! I also have the Cuisinart and have been able to do air frying AND pretty much everything else.
This just seems like another gimmick. Par results for a premium. A nicely sized regular air fryer, convection oven, or pellet grill can give better results without the gimmicks.
For years I have been searching for a channel as yours.
Thats 20 minute ad.
You showed the bottom of the steak!! Yes, you should have mentioned that it was sponsored, but that’s the most honest review I’ve seen on this.
An airfryer is just an oven that sponsors youtubers
Mike, for years you have given us valuable insight and a deep dive into your world of culinary adventures. Things happen and while criticism may be given, you continue to fill a void for MILLIONS on this platform. Still and forever will ride with you and the PHC kitchen. Here's to more memories and recipes together!
Must be quite a sad life xD
I wasn't sold until the "probe not detached" part... Like HUH!? This thing is LEGIT!
I have 2 kids so I bought 4 of these and had a new counter-top installed to hold them all so I can make 4 steaks. Said no one... ever
This type of appliance was never really intended to cook for a family of four in one go. This type of thing is really best for a single person or couple who just CBA with the process of cooking but still want good results after a long day at work.
Here "AI" should really mean "Already Invented" Let's be real here!
It's just a buzzword now.
it's an ad
Hahaha, the next YT chef coming around with this thing... 🤣🤣🤣
Another thing I’d like to know is how it stands up against one of the main things that air fryers have become so popular for,as in their cost to run?
It's suspicious how everything is cooked "just the way you like it!!"
Pfas in the interior coating?
You're better off getting the Ninja Foodi 14-in-1 with the thermostat. It does all this and more, isn't a kickstarter, and is a reputable brand
Almost a week in. Have you gotten any updates? And can you save your own programs??
Wow, this is incredible. What I can do in 10 minutes, Ill be able to do in nearly an hour.
maybe you didn't get a great result with the ribs cause the prob may have been touching the foil, giving a higher reading to the machine, maiking it finish earlier than it should, just an idea. The other proteins i think were great, really cool piece of equipment!
So... can it do small loves of sourdough bread? That's my big question. With the steam oven capabilities, maybe? If it could, that would make the baking process for sourdough a LOT easier!
Cast iron dutch oven is easy as it is.
A different reviewer did bread; not sure if it was sourdough, and it looked like it came out good.
Cya dude, great direction you took a recipe channel.
I cook steaks in my Ninja Foodi XL every day. Perfect medium rare. No water/combo needed
Didn't disclose sponsorship + didn't mention you can't actually go buy one. Dislike.
With the water thingy, would you be able to use it to bake bread or bread rolls?
To me it looks like a gimmick and I wouldn't trust a paid review
Other combi-ovens are great for bread baking so probably yeah.
The "d" in "Sous Vide" is NOT silent.
DREO Here, DREO there, DREO is everywhere ... such an expansive promotion on youtube discourages me from this brand.
I think the sponsorship should be disclosed at the front of the video, it feels dishonoest to put it in the comments.
Great technique with prep and seasoning. I personally haven't understood the appeal of air fryers, until I used a Rational oven
Is this a paid-for promotional ad?
Better read the fine print, This is just a Kickstarter. You are not "pre-ordering" this product. Your favorite youtubers do not just happen to love this product. The company that makes it is paying foodtubers large amounts of money to make full-on infomercials. As a Kickstarter, if you invest in the product's campaign thinking it's a pre-order, then there is absolutely no guarantee as to when you will get the product and very limited legal recourse for any issues it may have
@@bricebeach3756 In this case, DREO is already a known brand on the market. That said, your argument was "sticker shock" and that specifically was what I was addressing.
I don't dispute some of the processes with different food but most are like learning how to navigate a trip to Mars.
That was insightful Mike, keep it going.
But I think the dislike ratio is because you should have put a sponsor disclaimer
After seeing something like this on the market now, I cannot wait to see this incorporated into ovens. I am running out of counter space! Great review, very cool product!
Anova already has a combi oven. The Anova Precision Oven
the cook on that ribeye was a war crime.
Sweek Potato. Never had one of those.
Forgot about that it does have a misspelling of sweet potato 🍠
Fantastic..
. For one person..
I thought the FTC updated their guidelines a week ago on disclosing the sponsorship up front now, rather than putting it in the comments?
5:11 if you look the menu says "sweek potato chunks".
That just screams fit and finished.
So its the functionality of a smart oven but capacity of an airfryer? Kinda tough sell.
Have you ever tried lemon juice and parm on roasted cauliflower? It's really good!
Can we get a tour of your garden soon? I would love to add some veggies to my garden that you think are versatile and yummy 😋
I would love this! I know how to cook but I live in an apartment so making cooking meats a bit easier
Med rare? Do you have cataracts? That steak was medium headed to well. Overcooked for sure.
i wonder how much it will be when it comes out because if you can buy a solid air fryer for $100 im not spending $500 on one that can cook with a probe which i can practice a couple of times and always set at the same temp and time and achieve the same
In 6-18months they'll stop supporting it and it will be another tech brick.
