    The potential for the nice wage and bonuses will be there, but how an MIS professional can help steer a company and it's clientele to success is a nice journey and rewarding itself.

      @@ElevateToTheUnknown do you mind if I ask you a few questions? I’m trying to decide between schools rn (majoring in MIS hopefully) as a transfer and I’d love some insight from you since you have a lot of knowledge on the subject! I’m trying to decide between Emory (70k a year but T20 school, lots of connections small classes etc.) or Arizona State (40k a year, huge school, less prestigious) or Drexel (42k a year, medium sized but their business school is the lowest rank out of my options + quarter system, but they have a coop program). What school do you think is the best choice for an MIS major? Is it worth it to spend all that money at Emory bc of the networking/professors? I know you studied in Atlanta as well so maybe you can give me some advice! 😇

    • @ElevateToTheUnknown
      @ElevateToTheUnknown  3 роки тому

      Hi @rashel lor this really comes down to a financial decision. If you can afford emory please go. It's a fantastic school and your connections will be elite. My second choice should be ASU but just know that your program will be CIS... Which is very strong as well and very similar to MIS. CIS is considered a STEM degree and is very valuable but more technology challenging. Last would be drexel just because its brand isn't as nationally recognized although its a great school. Either way you are setup for a great education and have great options in front of you.

      @@ElevateToTheUnknown thank you so much for the reply! Is CIS significantly harder? My top choice is definitely Emory but I’m still figuring out if I’ll be able to switch into the ISOM program since I’m a transfer!

      Hi @Rashel Lor - no the CIS program is not significantly harder at all. You'll just have an extra math or science class.

    Bro, your videos have helped tremendously a lot over the past few days. I will be attending Prairie View A&M when I get back to the States from Korea later this year. My time in the Army is coming to an end and I want to get another degree at an HBCU. I was looking into CS, but I honestly do not want to do that much math haha. I'm so glad I researched more and found this option that is way more tailored towards my lifestyle of finance/investment and technology. I am very savvy in both fields.
    I get another two free degrees due to my GI Bill and Hazlewood Act benefit for enlisting as a resident of TX. So I might as well use them. Thanks for the solid vids on MIS. You and a few others on here who majored in this field are answering some great questions and concerns. Which is only leading towards more positive insight and drive to choose this path.

The reason I decided to get my MISM was due to the fact that Bachelor's were becoming to common and I wanted to seperate myself from the crowd while learning skillsets that I could leverage in the career field to advance further. The end result for me were roles that are a hybrid of management and development/support.

    I'm curious how you think someone would fair with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and 15 years of progressive Accounting experience? I think Accounting has run it's course for me due to not getting a CPA or MBA. Obviously, I could continue making 65-75K a year as a General Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager but to get more $ it would be likely to have to get one of those designations. Instead, to me it would make more sense to put my time and efforts into something else that I feel I would enjoy doing but make twice as much if I am going to take the time to get another degree. What types of positions would I be looking at (Business Analyst/Cost Analyst)?

      $75k car salesman, 2004
      Nurses $35-$45 an hour late 90's, not including overtime. The more rural the area, the higher the pay
      My aunt's husband was making $55k back in the 80's. He was an engineer, not sure what kind.
      Step dad was making $250k driving trucks in the late 80's. He owned 2 trucks at the time, no degree.
      I was making $35k base pay just sitting on my azz as a security officer in 2016 and this does not include bonuses, etc.
      What I'm trying to do is put things in perspective. You go to school and work hard, go into debt for $48k a year. Makes no sense UNLESS you're doing it because you love it.

    • @ElevateToTheUnknown
      @ElevateToTheUnknown  Рік тому

      I wanted to address a few points regarding the comparison of salaries and the value of a MIS (Management Information Systems) degree. It seems there may have been some misunderstanding in our previous conversation.
      Firstly, when I mentioned a base salary of $48k for entry-level positions right out of college, I was referring to the starting point without factoring in additional bonuses, stock options, or other incentives. I apologize if that was not clear initially.
      Furthermore, it appears there was a miscommunication regarding the focus of our discussion. I was primarily discussing salaries in relation to individuals who are further along in their careers, typically in their adulthood and possibly in mid-career stages. It's important to consider the earning potential as one progresses in their professional journey.
      I want to emphasize that I have personally experienced significant career growth in the field of tech sales. By leveraging this platform, engaging in real estate ventures, and exploring other opportunities, I have been able to rapidly increase my income. Presently, I am earning over $650k, and I am on track to reach $1.3 million
      Given my own trajectory, I believe it's crucial to recognize that a degree in MIS offers ample career opportunities that extend far beyond initial salary considerations. The degree equips individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel and surpass their own expectations in the professional realm.
      Once again, I apologize if my previous statements were unclear or led to any confusion. I wanted to provide further clarification and emphasize the broader scope of salary comparisons and the potential for growth that comes with a MIS degree.
