  • Making country style pork ribs in a smoker is easy. My video shows you step by step how to take a country style pork rib and turn it into a delicious meal that makes everyone come back for seconds.
Well lets take a look at what ingredients you are going to need:
1 Package of country style pork ribs
Six ounces of quality pineapple juice (I prefer Dole pineapple juice)
Barbecue Sauce that does not have “hickory” in it
BBQ Rub (I make my own check out my video on making your own BBQ Dry Rub)
    Apple Wood
Equipment I used in my video
Masterbuilt Electric Smoker (I love it)
    Disposable pan
    Aluminum foil
    Gas Grill (optional)
    BBQ Sauce Mop
    Smoked Country Style Ribs Recipe
Apply Dry Rub to country style ribs and let them sit in your refrigerator for about an 1 ½ hours before cooking
Heat Smoker to 275 degrees and add liquid to water pan during warm up
Place ribs in your smoker for about 1 ½ hours until meat is at 150 degrees
During first 1 ½ hours make sure to keep the smoke flowing
While ribs cooking make bbq sauce mixture in disposable pan
When pork ribs at 150 degrees place them in bbq mixture and cover with foil
Place the pan back into the smoker for an additional hour of cooking
Once the hour is done either place the ribs back into the smoker and cover with sauce to glaze them for about 5 minutes a side, or place them on your grill to caramelize them nicely like it did.
Once they are done simply take them off and enjoy.
I served mine with some delicous Risotto Rice. Check out my Risotto Rice video

Friendly tip from one smoker to another: Take the racks out of the smoker while its heating up. Place the meat on the racks before hand. Once the smoker reaches temp, the door is only open for a few seconds while you place the racks, which already have the meat on them, in the smoker. Probably only loose about 10-15 dregrees instead of 60. They looked great...good job. Now I'm hungry!

I never preheat mine. Chips, meat, turn it on. In that order. Starts smoking the meat right away. No loosing heat and smoke while waiting for it to reach temp.

any problem with putting the meat in while the smoker warms up? i've found mine gets up to temp pretty quick, even in cold weather.

Just a note for others with this smoker. Once you turn it on if you just hit the minus temp button it will go right to 275. Same as the time, minus and it jumps straight to 24 hours. Once your done with your cook and you pull the meat, just turn it off.Just a faster time and temp setting technique.

I'm a frugal shopper, too! I buy ribs ALL of the time from Kroger for no more than $6 a slab. If you have a Kroger nearby, check them out! Thanks SO much for sharing. I JUST bought a smoker and will be using it this weekend! I appreciate you!

Thanks for the help for us Masterbuilt Electric Smoker folks! Cookers are very unique and you need to learn the tendencies and dynamics of each and every cooker. There is a learning curve when it comes to finding the different heat zones and air flow etc.....I have a basic Masterbuilt smoker. A friend of mine has one with a broiler in it. In hind sight I wish I would have got the broiler option for crisping up chicken etc.....

Awesome recipe! I just got my second master bilt smoker the other day. First one died on me after several years of use. If I’m not making my own BBQ sauce ( which is very time consuming ) Sweet Baby Rays is my go-to sauce. I add some honey, molasses and Pickapeppa sauce to it, along with some brown sugar. I bought some country Style ribs the other day and searched for master bilt smoker country style ribs. Found your video! It’s happening today!!

I had a water smoker like that one for years. A little sprite in the water pan gives them a touch of sweet. I loved the smoker as nothing would burn as long as it had water in it. Pork backbone, ribs, chicken even turkeys turn out great

Great video. I too put a little brown sugar in my rub, just my taste. Also to get every bit, I empty by bbq sauce first, then pour my apple or pineapple juice into the bottle, shake good, then pour it in the pan. Get's almost all the sauce out fast and easy. Great recipe and nicely done video. Keep em' coming.

I like to put the wood chips in BEFORE the meat to get a smoke rolling. this gives more smoke time on the raw meat before it starts to cook. Also, advise taking the racks out and loading meats on it and insert thermometer ( get it all organized ahead of time) before opening the door. That way, once you open the door you can just slide the racks in with minimal heat loss. I have a dual thermometer readout so i can monitor 2 racks,,,,,,,usually swap the racks at some point to even out the temps.....

As long as it's in a semi closed area (sheltered not closed in) you can smoke food in a smoker even in winter. I use the Masterbuilt Electric Smoker with a Electric Cold Smoker Attachment they have as well. You got to let it preheat a bit but works. Good luck !! (.... and no I don't work for Masterbuilt : )

So far we've had chicken quarters that were way over-smoked, pork butt that was pretty good and made a pot of beans with the bone (yum), yesterday was chicken quarters again...turned out delicious...only used 3 charcoal briquettes for the chicken's smoke...there was enough seasoning in the smoker to smoke an elephant! :)
I've learned to not be heavy handed with the wood chips for our liking.
I can't wait try candied salmon.

Good video. On a frugal note, buy the pork butts whole, bone them, and slice your own ( we call them western ribs in Missouri). I usually buy them on sale for .99 cents. I usually take the lean part ( around the bone) and make sausage out of it, leaving the fatty part for ribs, or butt roasts. Good stuff! And yes, I am a meat cutter :-)

NinjaOwl by season he means two things. When you get a new smoker you run it to create an initial layer of smoky soot on the lining of the inner walls which helps to radiate flavor inside the unit. This gets better with age as you use your smoker and builds up further increasing the layers of soot on the lining making deeper more complex flavoring capability. this is the reason you Never want to clean or scrub the inner walls of the smoker only clean the door seals, racks, water bowl, and ash and grease collecting trays. Also ANOTHER great vid jeff! I can't wait to try it although I don't have real access to a grill because I'm in an apartment would you recommend maybe an oven broiler? I did the pork like you did in your pulled pork vid and my wife loved it! Still looking for your website development and a culinary youtube playlist :) thanks for your hard work I love your vids

I met this guy on a service call(I'm a repair plumber) he had a big ass smoker like you could cook 40 briskets on this thing I was interested so he showed me around I noticed there was only 1 dirty spot on the grates like he's only ever cooked 1 price of meat at a time on this giant smoker I've worked for this guy for a few years so I know it wasn't brand newi told him I had a master built smoker and I could make some pretty mean st Louis style ribs on it he laughed and grinned and said I think you gotta turn in your man card for that I didn't say any thing but I thought to myself you should have to turn in your man card for having 20,000 dollar smoker that's only been used to cook one brisket at a time any way I really like the electric smoker it's like a smoky oven you set it and forget it so you can worry about making sauce and sides and staying"hydrated"set the time and temp and feed it some wood chips and you can make better ribs than the local bbq shop you don't need charcoal propane or a stack of seal seasoned fruit wood

looks great! I had the same smoker for the last few years and it just crapped out this weekend! It appears to be the heating element as the electric control panel still works and the heat light comes on but no heat. I did a bunch of research and it turns out this is not uncommon and alot of consumers have had issues. After alot more research, I landed on another Masterbuilt smoker, but this time it's the propane version with 2 doors. No electronics to worry about!! I would recommend folks avoid the electric version if you can!!!

Wow! Thank you for all the details and work! My kids got me a smoker for mothers day (it's what I wanted lol) and I can't wait to use it! Any good tips for beginners? Mine is a master mastercraft propane.

so is ours. Son got it for us for Xmas. He has done ribs, chicken. I did a whole chicken the other day. Did salmon. I look for recipes and adjust more me, I am doing low carb. I write down my timing. It takes time, use it on day you have a whole afternoon to smoke

Looks as if MasterBuilt is using those small personal refrigerators to built their smokers!?!?!? I swear I thought it was a small fridge that was converted into a smoker when I first saw it!!!

Pro-tip: You can press the down button when you set temperature and it will go from 100 to 300F instantly. Much faster way to set temp just going down and around!

Thanks for the video, Jeff. I have been wanting to try country ribs because the are half the price of pork ribs, but was not sure how long to cook. Will try this very soon. Again, great job on the video. Looking forward to more. And I will be checking out your website.

I had this smoker and I attempted 3 cooks and was soo dissatisfied. Food took forever. Loading the chips is a pain in the ass and the biggest flaw was the loss of temperature when you open the damn door. It drops like crazy. I went ahead and returned it and bought myself a pellet smoker and now I'm happy with it.

Adds moisture to the smoker & chips take longer to get to smoke temp. I’ve never seen a wet piece of wood put off any useful smoke.

@@norcal8946 in a charcoal grill it's perfect. I've never not seen them soak. I soak them in wine till they are drenched and throw them on the charcoal.
