  • Samuel Reshevsky was a chess prodigy who first dazzled the chess world as an 8-year-old when he began conducting simultaneous chess exhibitions. Reshevsky would go on to win the United States Chess Championship 6 times, and had also played a total of 11 World Chess Champions ranging from Lasker to Karpov. Reshevsky had white in this game against Arnaldo Vasconcellos. The game was from the 1944 United States Chess Open, and held in Boston Massachusetts. This 26-move encounter out of a French Defense, Advance variation has a few eye-catching tactics, with the very first strike occurring after black's decision to take a poison pawn.

    I absolutely love your well-researched, high-level overviews of games and positions, instead of blindly showing 20 variations without explanation.

    • @alephnull4044
      @alephnull4044 6 років тому +1

      Me too, though I wouldn't say instead of blindly showing many variations without explanation, since I don't know many chess YTers who do that. I would say instead of just clicking through the moves with hardly any commentary and no commentary more insightful than pointing out an attacked piece etc, since many certainly do that.

      Jerry does a good job, he is at least a titled player. So many sub-2000 rated players doing these videos that can't really explain like titled YTubers such as Jerry and Zibbit do.

    Your pop quiz at 4:11 I would move Bishop to B5 to force Bishop to D7 then capture on D5 with the knight if the opponent takes with the pawn you can recapture with the queen and when he moves Bishop to D6 to defend you can move Rook to E1 and win the Knight

      becaus of mate in 12. just an example of how you could mate black:
      1. Nxe5 2. Qxe5+ Kg6 3. Rxe7 Rg8 4. Qxd5 Qxe7 5. Rxe7
      Bf5 6. Qf7+ Kg5 7. h4+ Kh6 8. Qxf5 Rxg2+ 9. Kxg2
      Rg8+ 10. Kf1 Rg7 11. Qf4+ Kh5 12. Rxg7 h6 13. Qg4#
      and Qc3 is mate in 3:
      1. Qc3 2. Rxe7+ Kf6 3. Ng4+ Bxg4 4. Rf7#

    4:10 I noticed this tactic by white... 1.Qh5!! and black can´t play f6 to defend, neither he can defend with the bishop as the white knight always lands on b5 with a fork, takes the bishop away and then white wins the black knight on e5 as well.
