[GOOGLE PIXEL 6 REVIEW]
Stick around long enough in tech, and certain motifs tend to repeat themselves.
The pronounced bezels and aggressively square corners of HTC’s 8X Windows Phone. The Daft Punk-like camera visor of Huawei’s Nexus 6P. And the notion that the company whose software powers three quarters of the world’s smartphones ... should offer a flagship device worthy of that lofty status.
I’m Michael Fisher and this is the MrMobile review of the Google Pixel 6. On top of confident design, it brings custom silicon; the biggest camera upgrade in five years; and the most assertive Android overhaul in ten. The only thing left for Google to do was to make sure the price didn’t get out of control and guess what? It did that too.

Love all the Star Trek references. You rule! Great review as always 👍
My favorite tech review channel, can always count on his word and his opinion. Thank you!
Hey bud, your promo code isn't working. Just a heads up.
Edit: Your link works, but typing in the code did not. Thanks for the discount, and for the great content Michael!
Do you know how well the RhinoSHield screen proctor works with the fingerprint btw? lots of issues with screen protectors and fingerprint.
We gonna talk about him paying respects to the og nexus one with that live wallpaper? Nice!
That wallpaper makes me so nostalgic
Love that one. Need it back in my life
Where can you download it at?
@@RedCdot 👆👆this. I want this too
As soon as he posted it on Twitter the other day, I bought and installed it. The Nexus One was my first Android device, so it's awesome to have it.
Props to you for using the Nexus Live Wallpaper as an Easter egg. What a throwback!
Glad someone else noticed that! Those nostalgia feels hit me hard.
I stumbled upon that wallpaper the day I moved into the 6 and it just felt so ... right! Haha. Link here for anyone interested: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stealthcopter.nexusrevampedpro&hl=en_US&gl=US

'My' P-6 has an E.t.a. of tomorrow.

I can be more familiar. Trading my LG G-6 ( to Google) which has been reliable, & Flawless these last 6 years.Cheers,
I did that with my 13 pro max for the 3 weeks it took to arrive
Sounds like the camera is doing exactly what I want for a digital photograph: capturing the maximum amount of information. Can always adjust contrast, saturation, white/black points, etc. in post, which is the beauty of digital. Obviously, for people who like to take a shot and be done, I can see prioritizing other things, but for my work flow that low contrast-high information density output is a perfect starting point for great pictures. Any of those Pixel shots could be easily manipulated to look like the iPhone shot, while the reverse is not true.
Exactly what I was yearning for in camera phones.
But the Pixel looks a bit too sharp and has too much clarity. Idk how you can fix that in post.
@@andrewprasanna9323 Depends on what you mean by those terms, but if by sharpness you mean acutance, that can certainly be changed in post (both increased and decreased). If by clarity you mean local contrast, that too can be adjusted in post. However, the details which you are contrasting were either caught in the image or they were not. If you have captured details, you can always soften or blur an image such that those details are no longer visible. If you didn't capture something in the first place, no amount of post processing can manifest it.
Have you checked out the Sony Xperia 1 III? I think you'll love the camera for that.
I just wish they provided an option to disable the hdr. The amount of details in the darks is just too much. Night sky is too bright with the amount of processing this phone does. It's just not natural looking or feeling. Having the ability to disable hdr would make this phone amazing.
It's funny, I have no intention of buying a phone for the next three years, and yet I can't help but come along for the ride whenever Mr. Mobile uploads another distinguished video essay on the latest tech. Kudos
That's not funny at all. You don't need to have an intention of buying something to be interested in it.
I stay up to date on tech as a passion.
What phone do you have out of curiosity?
@@StirlingWatt Myself I rocking my LG V60 in the dual screen case. I'm hoping LG will give us Android 13 before finally getting out the smartphone business. What about yourself?

I love this channel. UA-cam tech reviews have become so hyperbolic lately with reviewers labeling products ‘trash’ or telling us to ‘don’t buy’ certain products. Michael always elegantly explains the pros and cons of a device and let’s *me* decide if it’s the product for me.
Michael, you are just hands down the best tech reviewer on UA-cam. You really take us on a journey while providing us with all the essential info and demonstrations for real-world use cases, unlike some who for example take sample photos in well-lit studios which regular folk don't do
There are a dozen of UA-camrs who already made an review, but I always wait on yours. Your reviews just feel right and contain all the info I want to know, no more no less. Greetings from 🇩🇪

@@borkwoof696 Ich mag die Machart der Videos von iKnowreview, aber inhaltlich sind die oft zweifelhaft. :D
I will never understand 1440p on a 6 inch+ smartphones. More pixels only drains battery faster. At 500+ pixel per inch nobody will see the difference.
Be wary, because these reviewers are reviewing the phones in cities with extremely high frequency antennas and are not even seeing the flaws of the modem of the Pixel 6. The Pixel 6's modem is so FUBAR that you will struggle to get above 10MIB/s outside of major metropolitan areas. I tested this on Pixel 6 and Pro, disabling 5G, then LTE, then 3G. All 1 bar, the worst result I have ever gotten on a smartphone ever. The worst speed test I have ever had, INSIDE MY OWN HOME next to the window.
This is on AT&T and Verizon. Both. I have never had a phone perform this poorly before, period. I had sub 100 dollar phones from almost 10 years ago have a better modem than the Pixel 6's modem.
I hope everyone that pushed people to buy this phone that was aware of the Pixel 6's modem's ABSOLUTE FAILURE gets eaten alive by insects. I've wasted $200 from these reviewers pumping up the phone saying it's god's own son yet they don't even mention how fucking shit the modem turns your nice phone into a useless brick outside of a major metropolitan zone. That's $200 from the TWO restock fees for returning the Pixel 6 and Pro, and the 2 screen protectors, and the 2 cases. I lost $200 for fucking nothing.
@@Crimefridge What kind of area were you using the pixel 6 in? I have never heard of this problem before.
He delivers yet again! Comparisons to the old beautiful phones of a bygone era, comparisons the nexus, a nexus wallpaper. Great review video ! What's the song he's using? I would love to find it.
Given how super easy it is to edit photos with Google Photos or other apps, I'm surprised how many reviewers mention things like the Pixel 6's photo contrast doesn't look as good as the iPhone. You can tweak that in like a second, hell half the time the auto-process makes the photo look perfect for Insta or whatever with just a single click. I'd rather have clarity and colour accuracy, because those things are harder to fix in post.
The new sensor seems to require more data to build their machine learning models. If it's company that can pull it off, it's Google (Looking at SONY).
SONY's bigger MP sensors didn't have the ability to process the image in the way users liked and loved.
I heard Marcus (mkbhd) telling people in US use stock apps for almost everything, So I guess they don't want to edit either
This has to be one of your best videos yet. I love how your look has evolved!
I like the clarity of the Pixel photos. As long as what I'm taking a photo of is well represented, I'm happy. There doesn't need to be a specific amount of blur, clarity, brightness, or darkness. Google's done a good job with some of the new features. I'm looking forward to the Motion Mode along with the better skin tone processing. Photography is an art and the desired look will be different to each person. What's ironic is when people talk about natural looking photos and they use PhotoShop on all their photos.
And that’s ok if the camera isn’t the reason you are buying a phone. But for some of us we want the best camera, we will never get a chance to retake a better picture from the past.
I have to agree. What's funny is when you see blind photo tests and a certain "king of cameras" NEVER wins or even comes close.... Because people love to say they want one thing but their eyes and brain want another. I suspect it's not even entirely just about that though, it's more about them saying they want whatever their pre-selected choice offers. Forget what actually looks better. Case in point the aforementioned "King of cameras" is taking very Pixel looking pictures with super heavy contrast and heavier color saturation. You know.... The very things they spent years saying they didn't want in a picture. Now it's better suddenly when their brand is doing it 🙄
@@Zeeangelofdeath if that's your concern that's exactly why you'd want a pixel 6! The sensor captures incredible amounts of data (more than the iphone 13) that you can very easily edit later to your liking. most smartphones don't let you do that to such a degree.
I'd rather have a camera that lets me play with more data in post-processing than a camera that gets what it thinks that I want every time.
@@S7ARBOY This. Also, so many people fail to look past the simple photo comparisons to the *rest* of the camera experience. Given unlimited time and patience, I can probably take a more technically impressive photo with (for example) Sony's latest Xperia than with the Pixel. But the Pixel (and now the iPhone) lets me take good photos without even trying - and even great photos with a minimum of effort. It's weird to say, but ... cameras are more than photos.
Yes! You can easily up the contrast in a phones inbuilt phone editor but there's no way of decreasing it in a way that looks natural
Love that this isn't a combo review with the 16 pro.. Awesome review as usual!
Your reviews just keep getting better and better! Bravo!
Awesome review - kept checking your twitter feed to see when you were going to post this. The 6 looks fantastic, and I'm very tempted now to purchase one.

I dont watch anyone else's phone reviews, except for this guy's. I've been subscribed for awhile now, the way he presents is amazing, keep it up brother.
I've watched a couple reviews already and but your review is the most important to me. You value the same things as I do and you don't hold back.
I for sure won’t miss the Pro review
Also, your reviews are in another league
You are the best
Excellent video as always Michael. I think this was the first truly earnest attempt at a real "Google Flagship". I personally haven't been this excited about a Google phone since the Nexus 5. Not to mention the value to cost ratio! For us here in the US this has to be the best value Android device available hands down.
Been seeing alot of ads on snapchat which peaked my interest so happy you've uploaded a review as you're my go to tech reviewer :)
You really are in a league of your own when it comes to reviews…. #Bestreviewer on UA-cam period!!!!👍🏼
1:43 - What's with the light becoming blueish from orangish there in that one shot?
As always, the review was a treat to watch. Love Mr Fisher's channel!
That's auto white balance in action on the iPhone 13 Pro I used for that shot. Wasn't wild about it, but had to use it.
I would never have guessed that the clip came from a phone. iPhones are just next level when it comes to video
@@NasifIstiak You'd be surprised how many of my on-the-go shots come from the iPhone. It's not my preferred smartphone on the whole, but there's a reason it gets rated so favorably when it comes to video!
Man his reviews are becoming more rich quality nonetheless the solid information he points out in his every video is just too good. Keep up the good works.
Great review, I bought this phone like 2 months ago and the performance of the camera and processor is so good, also the battery is efficient and holding for 1&half day! The back of the scratches and as I bought the black color it looks dull so I wrapped it with Gadgetshieldz skin and now it looks so cool!!!
Great review Michael!❤️
2:17 Oh man, that wallpaper takes me back to the good days.
I love the pixel! your reviews are so thought out and the transitions are awesome! oh do you have a link for those whooshes in your transitions and would love to use them in my tech UA-cam vids! if so thank you!!
OMG, to the casual photo with Marc aka Loop Daddy!!! As always, I love your reviews and get excited when they post.
THANK YOU SO MUCH 🙏 for doing a review of the Pixel 6 and not just the Pro. I’ve noticed most of the tech channels I subscribe to chose to compare the Pixel 6 Pro to the iPhone 13 Pro Max and the base model was just a side note and quickly mentioned, but never examined properly. This is the review I have been looking for, and it was spectacular as usual. You definitely did the device justice. Mr. Mobile, you’re my hero. 😉😏

Always comes out to be the best reviewers. No nonsense. Just what exactly you want to know to decide whether to buy or not. Very spot on. Just the level of details. And a wholesome package. Very frank with his opinions.
I've been battling in my head to go with the 6 or the pro......this review makes the decision for me. I don't care for telephoto and 90hz is my sweet spot on phones that's why I have been on the pixel 4xl for so long...it has been my favorite device ever and it looks like the 6 will do what I need it to do and more....even with shooting videos and photos using Filmic. Great review.
I am not gonna lie, this is the review I have been waiting for the most.
This review was so good I didn't want it to end!!
I kept on watching it several times
Putting the phone up against a can of Boddingtons was a masterpiece, it was brewed originally near me.
Great video, seriously thinking about one of these, my camera aspirations aren’t as high as yours and added to the google functionality makes this a corker
I have been following you sine 2015 you always do reviews from a user perspective and I revisit here more often - kudos and love from India
If I hadn't gone in on a foldable, I'd likely have gotten this as my next main phone. So many features I didn't know I wanted until I saw them. 😍
Same! I love my phone, but there's just something about the Pixel line that makes me almost disappointed in my Galaxy Flip...
hey Michael, it's 3 years of OS updates and 5 years of security patches! 🥳🥳🥳
Man your reviews are too good that I watch them even if I'm not interested in the product reviewed, and I don't even skip sponsor messages 😂
Keep it up 👍
Exactly!
@MrMobile, sir, I've watched almost every review from all the big influencers on this phone. Yours is the first one on which I'm commenting. Excellently done. I appreciated the balance; you gave a nod to the hard work and effort Google clearly put into this phone. Finally! (Looking at you, Osterloh) You also called out the phone for its weaknesses in a fair way (the battery menu is atrocious, but I have yet to experience poor battery on my 6P). Very well done review. Looking forward to the Pro's review. #subscribed #notify
Iv had my 6 pro for a day now. Ans all I can say is wow! Just wow! I use s21 ultra and iPhone 13 pro max. So 2 great phones. However the pixel is now my all time favourite. It's certainly smoother and faster than the other 2 and also takes better photos. Absolutely great to be back with Google! Well done Google it's been a few years but it's great to be back where I belong.
Hey Michael, great review as always :) STAY MOBILE FRIENDS ;)

@Aman Bhardwaj press later down the line I might, but for now I'm still thoroughly enjoying it
Thanks for the video, Michael. I love your style of reviews.
This is my first time watching your video and I enjoyed every bit of it! I really like how you make your review like storytelling (a good one at that) while providing us with essential information about the product, alongside the pros and cons. Auto subscribe!
Love the review Mr. Mobile. The only thing I wish more of are comparisons to competing android phones like the S21. Most people rarely switch between major OS devices and instead base review on both the information about the phones performance on its own and when compared to similar devices with the same OS. A lot of people I bet would love to know how this fairs with the Samsung and OnePlus lineups
Great point. Comparing this to the iPhone is pointless. It seems like it's only for bragging rights more than anything. Android users will compare this with other Android phones, not the iPhone.
What a coincidence!!! Just searching for your channel keeping in mind why am I not getting your video notification on pixel 6 and then this just pop up !! GC
Same! Just opened UA-cam to look for his video and there it was...
loop daddy cameo in a phone review? this is the 2021 I needed.
Great review . I hope everyone revisits the pixel after a few software updates. Maybe just one update will fix the cameras . I was pulling for those cameras to be the best.
Your reviews are top tier, as always. I unfortunately couldn't wait and bought the phone last night to get those free earbuds but I was still second guessing my decision to get the 6 over the 6Pro. This has assuaged me.
There might come a time where it's worth spending an extra $300 to get it all, but I'm thinking it's not this year. I'd rather get the good-value phone and maybe upgrade down the road when Google refines the new build
You never disappoint your videos are like movies🔥
How. How are you not the most popular tech reviewer on UA-cam? You are on a different level, man! Keep up the great work!
It doesn't matter how many reviews I watch, it is always Mr. Mobile's I look forward to the most.
Watching on my pixel 3a xl, debating on upgrading. The new update did update my current pixel with some things, like the wallpaper options and bigger toggles with color customization. Android 12 seems to affecting some apps in a bad way, hoping they're just bugs to work out. Just don't know if it's worth the upgrade yet, but I appreciate you reviewing the pixel 6.... instead of the 6 pro like everyone else is doing! If anyone has had experience with the 3a xl and the 6, I'm open to suggestions!
I'm also watching on pixel 3a XL, debating upgrading to pixel 6 or Pro because the pixel 3 family, including 3axl, will stop being supported in may of 2022.
Same here watching from a Pixel 3a and I must say I love my phone, the photos are amazing. I'm just not fully convinced Pixel 6 will be better. Is upgrading to pixel 5 a silly idea?
I just upgraded to it from the 3a XL. My initial takeaways:
Best improvements:
- Android 12 is super smooth on the 6, it was a bit slow on my 3a XL. My first flagship phone, and it's performance is outstanding
- 5g!
- Camera is better, and the magic eraser is truly amazing. Haven't used video yet
- Sturdy glass/metal body, my polycarbonate 3a warped a bit like many others
- Adaptive refresh up to 90 Hz (I'm told that's a good thing)
- Transferring data, pics and apps is super easy. Just use your USBC cable and follow prompts
A few things you will miss about the 3a XL:
- No headphone jack
- 3a is lighter. 6 is heavier
- Glass body is nice but get at case, I've heard you can crack it if it drops
- I really miss the rear fingerprint scanner, you will get used to the under screen scanner. Works pretty well
While I couldn't wait for your review Michael and went and pre-ordered the P6 in Sorta Seafoam, I'm glad to hear your more extended use case validates a lot of what I'd heard from other channels. Appreciate your in depth review here as always - you are appreciated!
Love that I recognized some faces in the photos and thumbs up for that retro Nexus live wallpaper.
The Nexus live wallpaper! Huge wave of nostalgia from that 😭
Good effort from Google, great review!

Just like the Pixels 6!
Great review man. I really enjoyed all the little Star Trek references.
So I’ve heard battery life mentioned in a couple reviews. Is it the expectation that the adaptive battery will improve this over time?
Yes it will
Reviewers are all over the map on battery life. Some are saying it's terrible, some saying it's really good, and everything in between. Have just had mine a couple days and doing initial downloads/install/setup/configuring so will have to see how it goes after I settle into more typical use. So far my sense it'll end up being "good but not great" for my usage.

Pixel 6 is the first phone I have bought in a while, that I think I'm going to keep for years. It has a very "iPhone" sort of feel to it. Like, nothing spectacular but everything just works absolutely perfectly
How is it after 3 months?
Really? Not what I've been hearing.
@MBC They even fixed the horribly inaccurate inscreen fingerprint reader? How? That was apparently bad hardware, not a software issue.
Do u have any problem with it getting hot

so new pixels not gonna get upto 5 years major updates?
Hi... 👋 From the future here. It's going to happen really soon. Even better, 7 years of OS updates! 😂
The happiest part of this phone review overall is that, every issue we have come across can be fixed through software updates and lucky for the user, its a Google phone.
This will be my happiest jump to Pixel from my iPhone XS. I will be missing 3D touch, the very reason I never bought any iPhone after XS.
Does the camera and battery get better with updates as well?
@@saadabdullah2812 In my experience, yes. Camera can exponentially get better. Battery life can get as well, but not so much. All be it, 5 hours will be enough for me. Anything more is just an added bonus.
Loving the old school Nexus live wallpaper!
Thank you, Michael. I was so uncertain about if I wanted to pick up the pixel 6 based on the other breakdowns I read before your video, but as the case was with the beautiful Asus Duo review (Which I am writing this on) your nuanced perspective made me certain that this is the phone for me.
The battery life is a big letdown but I am going to take a chance for once and get this phone tht delivers on every other point for me. Thank you for taking the time to make a proper review instead of rushing it out.
