      I also traded in my 5a for the new 6a. I just wanted the Tensor chip, and I've been pretty happy with the performance. It's also taking me a while to get used to the front screen fingerprint sensor, but I'm hoping eventually I get used to it.

      @@danielx555 TL;DNR: If you have a 5a, don't feel the need to trade it in for the 6a. The 5a has better battery life. //My wife has a 5a. I was deciding wether or not to trader hers in or urge her to do so. I decided to not. I actually didn't trade in my 5a for the 6a. I sold my 5a (which if gotten used). (I traded my 4a because the battery life on the 4a was shot and it made more sense to trade it in rather than buy a new battery.) it has a better battery than my 2 yr old 4a. But is it worth upgrading from the 5a? No. My wife's 5a beats my 6a in that department.

    Mr. Mobile how is the reception? If you didn't know, the Google Tensor chip used in the Pixel 6 Pro, 6, and 6a has the 5123b modem made by Samsung. This is a problem because reports and reviews of the 6 Pro and 6 say that reception is bad with loss of signal, dropped signals, and trouble with finding networks. As this is a phone... this should be a very important topic that everyone should talking about, but almost no one is...

    That's the most balanced review I have seen so far, even though I have decided to wait for the Pixel 7 anyway. It also comes down to what you are currently using, as to what features you cannot compromise on. For me on my Pixel 5, it is too much of a downgrade to a 6a for the features I enjoy, e.g., I cannot lose wireless charging plus I like the small form factor. And I already enjoy all the smart Google AI stuff on my current Pixel 5 like call screening. So lets see whether Pixel 7 can convince me it is a worthy upgrade.

      I'm leaning 6a, as the 7 leaks don't excite me. My 3 just got it's last security patch, and only because it was a critical issue. At least the 6a is cheap and will tide me over with software for a couple more years.

    • @derekisthematrix
      @derekisthematrix 2 роки тому +1

      The 6a is essentially a downgraded 5. Worse battery, no headphone jack, no wireless charging, same camera. I'd go 6 or 6pro as you can likely find a good deal out there and you get the new camera hardware. The value proposition for the 6a just isn't there.

    • @derekisthematrix
      @derekisthematrix 2 роки тому +1

      @@Cracky003 the 6a isn't really much of any upgrade from the 3. I went from 3 to 6pro and if it weren't for the telephoto lens, I would have been severely disappointed. My wife still has her 3 and image quality is only marginally better on the pro and the front camera is MUCH better on the 3 due to autofocus.

    • @Cracky003

    I am definitely "in the camp" of those who make no fuss about screen refresh. My current phone, Zenfone 8 has a screen refresh of up to 120Hz, with options of "auto", 60, 90, and 120 fixed. But what I am currently using is 60Hz fixed, less strain on the battery, and while I was using 120, 90, and "auto", I noticed that some of my regularly used Apps shuddered, which didn't happen on 60Hz. So that was a no-brainer, so to speak.

    Not having a headphone Jack isn’t an “audiophile complaint”. You can get a better set of wired headphones at $20 than wireless ones at $40. And not just better at sound output, but there’s no comparison between their respective microphones: wired mics outperform 90% of the true wireless earbuds out there. It really does diminish the value proposition by a little bit.

    I joined the Pixel family through the Pixel 3a and have loved it since. A lot of great features for a great price. This time around I upgraded from the 4a to the 6a and have been playing with it the past day or so.
    While I'm pleased with it overall, my gripe with it is the in-screen fingerprint scanner. The one on the 4a was so fast and accurate, it didn't feel like a scan, it felt like a button. Now I have to press and hold, and while waiting a second is not a long time, it feels like it's a long time compared to instantaneous.
    In my opinion, this is one of the only - yet biggest - drawbacks from upgrading from the 4a. Hopefully they can improve the performance with software updates, but I'm doubtful.

      Agreed, my first Pixel was the 4a, and it was perfection. I got the 6a because it was so inexpensive on sale, has a faster chip, wide camera, IP rating, and extra years of updates. I decided ahead that I'll likely trade it for the 7a so I don't mind missing the smaller size (really adored that though) and superior fingerprint reader. I do think I'll get used to the size and will probably like it more, the more I use it. If not, I only have a year to wait lol.

    The Pixel 6a fingerprint issue is real. I bought two phones at launch, one for each of my parents. One worked perfectly. The other had the fingerprint issue out of the box. My dad registered his fingerprints, but I could unlock the phone with one of my fingerprints, and my brother was able to as well even though they weren't registered. We deleted all the fingerprints and had him do it all over again... still same issue. We waited for a couple of monthly system updates, with no bug fixes. Finally there was one with the changelog specifically addressing 6a fingerprint issues. After that system update, the issue was still there. I filed a warranty claim right after testing it. The replacement 6a works perfectly with no issue. It is a great phone for the price, but just be warned that the fingerprint issue is real lol. Good thing is that it comes with warranty, so if the issue is there, just file a claim. by now I would think Google has heard about this issue plenty that they have fixed the issue/tested the scanner before shipping new units.

    "Take it for what it is!" ..... Thank you, it simply cannot be said better! I have it in the same green color as here in the video. I can't make comparisons to the 5a, that wasn't available in Germany, but I owned the 4a before that. I'm really happy that the 6a is available in Germany!
    When I unpacked the 6a, I was disappointed at first - thicker than the 4a, the back felt very cheap, it was heavier. But the display has a nice feel and is a finger cuddler, much better than my 4a. The display fingerprint scanner works pretty well for me - unless you are in very bright rooms, then it often doesn't want to work right away. The setup from the 4a was super easy, just connect both smartphones with the included cable, follow the steps from the assistant and done. The cache was also transferred, I did not have to log in again for many games and apps, which I enjoyed!
    The device got very warm at the beginning, with the smallest applications and that bothered me a lot, now an update came out last night with security patch from June 2022 (previously April 2022) and now it hardly gets warm when using. And the micro jerks when using have minimized considerably, also the loading time when photo rendering!
    The 60 Hz display and the relatively long charging time don't bother me, the speakers, the battery life (way better in my case than described here!), the comfort features shown in the video and the really good camera were more important for me.

    I came to 6a from iPhone Xs and can't complain about the battery that much. I run it like a mad man , so never expect 1 day of use but it works for 14-16 hours for me, good enough. Could be better considering 60 hz but it's ok. Charging twice is better than charging thrice. After the June update, fingerprint headache is a lot better.
    I honestly miss the XS. This is a great phone but my XS would have lasted another 2 years no problem. Irony is , processor is equally powerful as the XS which is almost 4 years old now 😂

    The Pixel 6A is in flagship territory with the Tensor. Heck, it outperforms the 8+Gen1 in difficult tasks like 4K60FPS video rendering - not just by a bit but like 22% faster (source: video by Juan Bagnell - maybe unlisted though).
