    As a Blue Jays fan, I always knew Tulo was devastated by being traded to Toronto. He couldn't recover from the betrayal of trust and you could see it in his body language and demeanor at Toronto. He just looked like a fish out of water and his performance reflected that -- he was a shadow of his former self. It just goes to show, pro-athletes are human too.

      He may have been like that at the beginning but I think he came to accept playing in Toronto. I think what prematurely ended Tulo's career and production was the hip injury he suffered in 2014 and subsequent surgery. He was never the same after that and I think that altered his stance at the plate and led to further injuries for him. It's a shame as he was such an excellent player. His footwork, when healthy, is insane. The only other player I ever recall having that footwork was Roberto Alomar.

    I played against Tulo all the way from little league to high school. Dude was an absolute monster at SS and hitting, but he was also a pitcher then too. I swear once he threw a slider that was basically behind my body and it curved back into the strike zone. Will never forget that. I also had a buddy go 4-4 off him once in high school. Our HS coach always told us he was going to be a pro, but you never really knew back then...was glad to see him make the majors and have one hell of a career

      Are you saying he wasn’t great? Yeah injuries ended his career early but for about 8 years Tulo was one of the best SS(and some years he was the best)in the MLB. Just because his career ended early because of injuries, doesn’t mean he wasn’t great. He may not be mentioned with all time greats because of the shorter career and less accolades but in terms of talent and skill both offensive and defensively, Tulo was right up there with any of em.

    First, 2007 wasn't even Tulo's personal best season let alone one of the Rockies' all-time best. Sure it was very, but just bc it was his highest WAR doesn't mean it was his best. More than half the WAR came from defense. Defense is important, but like everything this needs perspective. This is the problem with WAR. Now-a-days people use it as the end all be all. It's a good stat, but it's not everything. It's more like the icing on a cake. It gives you the finishing touches. Larry Walker had 4 probably 5 season by himself that were definitely better than Tulo's 2007, but I believe only 2 of them had higher WAR with the others close. When you look at the numbers though the seasons aren't close. Tulo gets a lot more points for being a shortstop, but Walker is a 7 time gold glove winner making him an extremely valuable defender. He just doesn't get the same points as a SS. Sorry I'm rambling here lol. I just don't like when people use WAR as the final say on a matter. The numbers are important. I'm personally taking a guy with .320avg 40+ HR 100+ RBI's over a .290avg 20HR 90RBI guy with better WAR. That's just Walker too. I didn't even get into the crazy years players like Helton, Castilla, Galarraga, and Bichette had. Don't get me wrong Tulo was a great player just not a fan of WAR. I find it to be very subjective especially when it all depends on what website you're using

    • @3-0Greenlight
      @3-0Greenlight  6 місяців тому

      I think you have to take into account how bloated offensive numbers are in Colorado. I just went off the fact that it was a top 10 single-season WAR mark in Rockies history. Also you mention Bichette but he had negative WAR during some of his big years in Colorado due to the inflated offensive numbers and bad defense. But that's just my take. I respect yours too!

    • @t.o.double9497
      @t.o.double9497 6 місяців тому

      @@3-0Greenlight which is exactly my point. WAR is not the end all be all stat. Tulo's 2007 isn't top 10 when you look at offensive WAR for Colorado and when we're looking at numbers and stats how often are you worried about how good he was in the field? Bichette's WAR was brought down bc of dWAR. Even still you look at those number from 93-00 most of them were better than Tulo. Especially when more than half of Tulo's 07 WAR came from dWAR. Tulo was a very good player, but when you look at the numbers there were many MANY more impressive seasons than Tulo's 07. And of course the numbers are bloated playing in Colorado, Especially Tulo's and they still weren't very impressive in comparison. But I appreciate you taking the time to make the video. Everything else was great.

    I’ve got TuLo & T Hell auto’s on the same MLB from Spring Training 2009 (I think it was) in Las Vegas
    Then I got a nice picture out of the sports page the next day with each of them High Fiving each other as TuLo crosses Homeplate
    & T Hell coming to bat
    Or they both just crossed Homeplate & High-fived
    I’m not sure atm 🤔
    & it’s from the same game I got the auto from the next days paper
    It’s cool, the pic has the little script underneath stating their names and what they’re doing
    So I cut that out and put it with the ball
    Pretty Sweet
    I’m pretty sure it’s from the same spring training game that I paid too much for tickets because I wanted to see Griffey Jr play before He retired & Hs was now back on The M’s
    So I bought 4 tickets , get there , walk in head down to the M’s Dugout & as I get there I see the back of Jr signing 1 of His shoes someone brought & then he immediately dips into the clubhouse tunnel
    Not ever coming out again and didn’t play 😢
    I didn’t even get to see Jr play and that was the whole reason I went there. 😢
    I think I went from over there since Jr dipped and wasn’t coming back
    I went over to the other side & Helton was Thee Coolest Dude in The World
    He signed the ball and got TuLo for Me too
    T Hell is Thee Man . 🙏

    Yeah, when talking about the power stats and that list, you should remove Rodriguez's name knowing he used PED's to get those numbers.

    I don’t understand how baseball players are so fragile. It’s a non contract sport yet time and time again you see these lame injuries

    Tragic?.. He had a great career and had some injuries that shortened it by a couple years.
    Not really agreeing with this. Unfortunate he didn't get a WS ring, but he had a solid run.

    Tragic? people overuse that word on the internet terribly. This guy got paid millions and live a comfortable life playing frigging baseball. Yeah so he got hurt and didnt become a hall of famer You want to hear a tragic story i certainly know a few of those of heartache pain and disappointment. The von erichs is one example thats tragedy.
