Dragon Quest VII needed to have its DLC preserved. Square Enix doesn't re-release those games often, not as much as FF titles, so it warms my heart to see someone caring about them and DQVII of all of them 'cause I rarely see people giving much credit to this game.

Dragon Quest VII is my favorite game in the series, but I never got around to doing a whole lot of the DLC.
I'm very thankful you went through this tedious task to preserve this content, so people like me will have a chance to play it in the future!

I just finished my first playthrough of VII on PSX like a week ago, I played like the first island of VII on 3DS. Had no idea the bonus tablets were in game downloads, AND that the 3DS's servers were going down til it happened. Much respect, you did the job many wouldn't.
7 is one of my favorite games, and the DLC adds a few early game goodies that can help make things a little easier or more interesting. Thanks so much for your dedication and passion for this amazing game.

hello saw this comment on another video to keep save and have dlcs : " Hello ! First, thanks for the video and for helping the community to conserve this precious DLC. Then, I have another way to get the DLC for both DQ that will help you preserve your original save file. For DQ8, you just have to extract your save with FBI, load it in your computer and use the dedicated save editor to give you the DLC items. This will add it to your inventory, so no need to use a cheat code that will replace all your existing items. Then for DQ7, you will need another 3DS with another game (yep...) with the save that have all the DLC tablets, then you'll be able to share it to your original game and save. You can do it with an installed version of the game so you don't have to buy another cartridge."

I'm still working on customizing my last version with a bunch of extras. At that point I'll also release as an alternative, all of my SK's to Sackchief as well, but I'm very happy to know my efforts and FAQ went to good use! So thank you, and congratulations for getting through it.
EDIT: I did try rushing the game to the post-game for the final 3 tablets off my last SK. I waited too long. 18 hours it took to get from just after Regenstein to just after recruiting Aishe. 8 cups of coffee, and my brain was so fried 2 hours prior to the server's closing that I couldn't make it. I probably could have done it if I made it through, but I'm not sure given how far gone I was staying up all night and day, and the previous day I wanted to finalize a few things first, one piece of equipment and a specific monster heart drop that took half the day to get.
Ahh...yeah, I knew I should have written an emphasis for Focus Strength. I think I mention it later on in the FAQ, but not early on where it was really necessary. As that skill gives a 100% hit rate (ignores evasion and blindness), on top of its 2~2.5* buff, on the next hit.
So I'm rather sorry about that oversight, but I am floored you persevered through it anyhow.
So the main reason to get to level 50 is so you can start a game WITH all of the DLC equipment already on hand, and having recruited all the DLC specific monsters onto one save.
You see, you cannot share any DLC map between two saves. Streetpass will not allow it. There's apparently a Reddit threat claiming you can with certain tablets, but I've verified this in the past and recently... So you're essentially locking off DLC specific items per map per game.
Also, and I know this was in my guide, if you download too many at once, you'll skip past Haven form 3, and the two one-time mini medals that were present. Which can and will reduce the total amount going into a main game.
This last SK I made, I left very low level with several DLC maps incomplete while the rest were done and the monsters recruited. All the rest I brought up to level 99 for Kiefer, and completed all DLC maps 100%, leaving 4 critical maps that have unique bosses that you can only rebattle through those maps on those saves. There are 4 SK's in total...though I've made 5, the first with my first playthrough of this game after learning it was a thing in Japan, though no one had perfected how, or worked out the best methods to get there, so I had to do all of that myself.
I really have to get this last one through its special pacing and then release all of them together. I think you'll appreciate the work I put into each one.
30+ Super Bumper Balls, Bumper Balls, extra Tombola Tickets, a bunch of Extra Elevating Shoes, the 4 unique maps, a bunch of extra equipment, all DLC equipment (well except for this last one), a bunch of Seeds of Strength pre-farmed, all of the base tier monster hearts already obtained either 3 or 5 count, and various groupings between them of different higher tier and different counts of higher tier monster hearts. Plus like 50k+ Tokens for the casino...two have like 250k+, and a lot of Gold. A lot of Gold.
Oh right and Duplic Hats. A rather fun headgear that's only available late late game. Though you can get it after the first boss of Nottagen is defeated, and the Monster Park officially opens in the present. Then work up through the tablet system to recruit one of the post-game monsters that drops it. Not an easy task, so I simplified it. Each save has between 1 or 2. It's a 1/256 drop. Though it recasts any spell and randomly selects the target, at no MP!
Ooops...yeah, sorry about that. Too late now, but I can't fix it in my pastebin post anyhow. I have not account, so no editing rights (even if I made a new account), and just in case a player server DOES get created, I'll fix that now in the actual FAQ. So thanks for the find.

Hmm, my posts seem to be erased...
No, it's just one. So anyhow, the issue with spawning, and I checked and it is mentioned in the guide, is Clockwise vs Counterclockwise running around town. Clockwise for some reason reduces the spawning under your feet, except with the rock in the lower left corner near town. Counterclockwise has the opposite effect for some strange reason. Which is how you ran in the video you recorded and showed. That is really annoying that it works as such. I wish it didn't. Though you are a real trooper, but as you said, you do like to grind.
I should mention I initially wrote the guide ages back when the DLC maps were on rotation, and only added to it, so apologies for the lengthy aspects. When I had the time and desire, I should have corrected it, but I was more focused on actually playing. Then life got busy, and then going back to it, it felt like a chore to clean up. I did some cleanup, but not nearly enough. So kudos to reading through the gibberish of my creation.
Did youtube autodelete this now too...it's so odd how it deletes my posts based on arbitrary elements I have yet to understand.
Anyhow, that is REALLY clever with the hair tie. Though you were supposed to stop around level 25~30 and start hunting Mad Moles for EXP and Seeds of Strength. That is in the guide. I guess I should have mentioned that earlier or something, so if that was the case for your continued playing this way, kudos. and wow...that is fairly hardcore. Tip of the hat to you.

I really loved how you broke down the entire process from grinding to allocating your save data. Also, I hope your health has improved and that you're feeling better now. I've also been in pretty poor health on and off this year and it can be so discouraging, so to hear how you took on this responsibility while bed ridden is inspiring honestly. I got Dragon Quest 7 before the 3DS stores went down and I did not know there was DLC till just now. Im glad its saved but god damn, that takes a lot JUST to get to the DLC downloaded. Congrats on doing this grind.
I remember playing DQ VIII on PS2 when i was a kid, and buying XI when it came out on the Switch, and i absolutely loved them. I thank you for being such a Hero in keeping this games Content!

Wow. Thank you so much! I knew about the shutdown but completely missed out on this project. Great effort and a very nice way to preserve all those very randomly spread DLC.
I only wonder if there were no cheats that could have been temporarily activated to get stuff like invincibility (no need for Super Kiefer) or to turn off EXP (no need to constantly kill of Auster + Maribel) which could have greatly sped up the process? Wouldn't have been nearly as legendary, though. 😅
In the weeks before the shutdown I spent a lot of time progressing Tri Force Heroes and grinding monsters in Dragon Quest Monsters 2 3D to get as good as possible in the online ranked battle tournaments. The Diamond Slime's family tree made me question my sanity but damn, I guess it's nothing compared to playing 9 hours of tombola. Despite all my efforts I think the best rank I ever had was 117, but it was a lot of fun nonetheless. Unfortunately I didn't get all of the daily Wi-Fi presents since there was only one monster key per day and I started collecting them too late.

I will say the tedious part of the DLC is how you can't have all of it restricted to the 1 file and unless your depending on super kiefer to help complete some of the really tricky ones there is a ruined flow of it so in my mind you may have to do some save editing on your party members so your party members aren't fixed to an original state. honestly it does shock me how dq as a series hasn't had the ff treatment with getting their remasters/remakes on multiplatform like steam has all the games meanwhile dq has like 11 and any modern stuff that can go as far as 2015 console only it's kind of mind boggling

I recently found out that there's a save-editor for this game, but it hasn't been updated in a long time and seems to be missing a lot of features (like the tablets). Here's hoping your saves can go towards developing it better.
