- If you have a General Electric or a Hotpoint dryer that won't come on you may have a broken timer knob. GE machines are notorious for having broken timer knobs that feel as if they are functioning correctly. Replacing the knob and avoiding using pliers to turn your timer post may save you the costly price of a timer replacement in the future. Replacement parts that you may need are listed below.

I spent 6hrs Today and 2-3 hrs Yesterday trying to figure out what was wrong with my dryer. Took it apart down to the base and tested every Fuse and Wire. After 15-20 UA-cam videos I finally stumbled upon this video. Thank you! Spent hours for it to just be a cracked/loose Timer knob - Don’t trust the knob even if it still feels like it’s clicking and catching as usual!

Can I gerb the knobs at HOME DEPOT OR LOWE'S?
I did a web search for Home Depot and Lowes and couldn't find them. I'm not sure which type your dryer takes but here are Amazon links for both kinds.

What if it has power but drum won’t rotate
Unfortunately I can't make an assessment without being able to diagnose the machine myself. I can give you my best guess though. Your drum belt is broken. If you reach inside and rotate the drum by hand and it rotates easily without you feeling the drag of moving the motor shaft and blower wheel then your belt has broken or has come off. On a GE if you hold down the start switch and the dryer seems to come on but as soon as you release the start switch it stops, then your belt is almost always broken.
