As an intermediate/advanced knitter and crocheter who’s not generally a fan of arm knitting, I must say that I really like this tutorial. I already knew how to make arm knit blankets, I just like to watch tutorial videos for fun lol. The clear instructions will surely help many people with their arm knitting projects. Thank you ❤️

Thank you so much, you were very engaging and helped me make a blanket. I did wait for a sale without knowing. I went into hobby lobby and they had yarn on sale for $3-$4 snagged some up and now making one :) thanks again
Thank you. I’ve been searching around looking to get an idea of how many skeins I’d need for this and you’re the only video that talks about the amount of wool and shows the size . Really helpful xxxxx
Hailey Springett I think it just depends on how fast and easy you know how to do it she’s done it before so she knows what she’s doing but it usually doesn’t take that long Hopefully this helps
I. need. to do. this. 🥺😍 Also I work in a textile mill that does some yarn "skeining"+dyeing and wanted to explain the random knots you may find in odd places on some skeins-- When we receive unwashed/undyed yarn, it's typically wound onto a cardboard cone (you can get maybe 50-100 skeins out of one cone depending on the yarn thickness) and we clip yarn strands from several cones at a time onto a machine with a rotating cylinder to make "hanks". (they look like if you were to wrap string around your finger several times, knot it to its own end, and pull it off. except picture your finger being about a yard in circumference😂) anywho that's what I do, I portion out and secure the yarn before it's dyed in hank form. So once I've made 50-100 hanks/skeins out of a single cone, I have to attach the tail end of that cone to the "start" of a second cone in order to have a completed skein when the first cone runs out. This is where most of those oddly placed knots come from, skeins transitioning from one cone to the next. It's never predictable where on a skein that knot could end up unfortunately. I'm not sure why we don't have some sort of device that bonds the yarn to avoid people having knots in their yarn projects but my best guess is time. The work is super tedious because each skein is first tied to its own end, then secured with 2 additional knots so as to protect the "hank" it's in. i manage 1,300-1,500 skeins in a day and i'd be lying if I said I retain any sanity by the end of it 😂 anyways hope anyone curious that actually read this has a good day/night lol❤️
I’ve honestly questioned it and just figured it was because there wasn’t enough. This goes to prove that you learn something new everyday!! I shall now run around the yarn section telling this to anyone who will listen!
omg! this was seriously so interesting to read!! thank you for taking the time to explain all of this - I literally had no idea! but that makes perfect sense! it would probably be nice if they could just bond it together like you said to avoid the weird knots but honestly, the knots aren't an issue for this blanket thankfully! it sounds like such a cool job you have! thank you again for sharing all of this info!🤗
awe! that means so much to me, thank you for that!! I found her video just a little tricky to follow, too, which is why I wanted to make just kind of explaining it differently. I'm so so glad it helped you!!❤️
The knot at the very beginning is from production, if you watch the How Its Made video for yarn you'll see them tie that little knot when they run out and start back over, it usually ends up in the middle of the yarn but sometimes you get unlucky and its right at the beginning! I love your makeup, this is a great hand crocheting tutorial for beginners I think you did a really great job simplifying it for people who are less experienced! 😊
Thank you so much the other tutorials were unclear and they didn't explain good but you explained very amazingly and I'm so thankful because now I get to make my blanket
Oh my gosh this is the most helpful tutorial I’ve found I’ve literally have looked at 20 different ones and this one finally helped me thank you so much
Thank you for the in depth tutorial!! The pandemic led to me to start making plushies, then I tried embroidery, & now I’m on hand knitting. This is VERY helpful!

THANK YOUUUU SO MUCH for this tutorial, I thought i got the wrong yarn but I found this video and got so happy because I didn't think I would be able to make the blanket😔
I truly enjoyed your tutorial on the big chunky knit blanket I have watched other videos and yours was the easiest to follow and learn so thank you. It makes it nice when it is explained well and easy to follow
Thank you for the great tutorial! This was the perfect combination of detailed yet simple if that makes sense? Made one for myself and I plan on making another one for my grandmother as a birthday gift! Thank you so much!
Happy Valentine's Day! ❤ This Tutorial with having it in Closed Captioning is exactly what I Needed!!! So Looking forward to Finishing my first Blanket!! Thank you So Much!! ❤️
This was a great tutorial. Thanks for sharing. Your loops were close together and that's what I want to achieve. In a few of the other videos that I watched, the blankets had large loops and so many holes in the finished product. It looked more like a fishing net. You did a great job. I'm going to try these smaller loops.
I feel like there’s other things you can make with this technique other than blankets, like scarfs for instance and I think I’ll experiment as I go thank you 😊
I saw someone recommending using a laundry bag or even a large pillowcase that is tied at the top to wash them! Just stick your blanket inside & wash on a delicate cycle!
I actually just answered this question in your other comment haha sorry about that! but I'm not sure about machine washing, I typically just spray them with a fabric refresher and then run them through the dryer to freshen them up and that has worked for us! We have never spilled anything on them or anything like that so I'm not sure how exactly one would clean them if that was the case but they have held up super well so far! and its been over a year!
When you did your first blanket that you mentioned, you said you used 6 skeins of the yarn. Did you use the entire 6 skeins, and if so, do you remember the dimensions you used? Like how many loops? I want to make a nice big blanket! Thank you for the video! 😊
Yes, I used all 6 for my first one and it's HUGE! I actually used the same dimensions as this one in terms of the number of loops because I just like that width, but with the extra skein, it's longer and so cuddly!💕 thanks so much for watching!!
I'm so so glad to hear that!! I have the measurements for this one in the description box so I would suggest grabbing a tape measure and just getting an idea of the size of this one using 5 skeins (maybe just do it on the ground and put something on the floor in each spot where a corner would be and sit in the little square it makes to compare it to how it would "cover" you) but if you want it massive, I would say AT LEAST 5 but probably for you 6 or even 7 would be perfect!
I was watching a different vid on this, and it was so bad, it had me in tears due to frustration and confusion...Your video was amazing and made this so easy... Thank you so much Have a nice day
Thank you for the helpful tutorial! I needed a start to finish version and your video was perfect. This is off the subject, but your wedding rings are gorgeous!!
@Shannon Andersen, This video was amazing. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into making sure that it made sense, and was overall an amazing tutorial. I found it great that you got right into starting the video rather than spending a whole half of the video talking about a sponsor, or making sure to comment something, and just got to the point. Most of the videos I found were very chatty about that. Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial, and I am picking up my yarn from Michaels today and I'm gonna get started right away!
Do you know what the dimensions of this blanket are? I want to make one like this for a king size bed, but I'm not sure how many skeins I'll need to purchase. I know you said you used 6 and it is huge, but I've seen other videos where they said they've used 12 for close to queen size (although different stitching methods which I know makes a difference). TIA!!
good question! with the tightness of my stitches, this came out to roughly 6 feet long and a little shy of 4 feet wide - but keep in mind I do fairly tight stitches so it could be smaller or larger depending on your preference!
This is so beautiful I've been wanting to try this Sean for a while just to make a blanket but I was thinking wow that is so thick and by the way I am new to your Channel
@@ShannonAndersen definitely did working on it now. I watched so many videos where I just couldn’t see how to do the second row and beyond and yours was *chef kiss*
Hi!! LOVE how you broke the steps down. It doesn't seem so complicated now! Are you able to wash the blanket? And if so, how do you make sure that the knots made don't come out?
4:40 start
8:10 how start new row
13:46 attaching new skein
14:46 hiding skein knot
16:50 how to end blanket

Do you know what the dimensions of this blanket are? I want to make one like this for a king size bed, but I'm not sure how many skeins I'll need to purchase. I know you said you used 6 and it is huge, but I've seen other videos where they said they've used 12 for close to queen size (although different stitching methods which I know makes a difference). TIA!!
good question! with the tightness of my stitches, this came out to roughly 6 feet long and a little shy of 4 feet wide - but keep in mind I do fairly tight stitches so it could be smaller or larger depending on your preference!
I love your cat. The star of the video lol
truly!!!😍😂

Hi!! LOVE how you broke the steps down. It doesn't seem so complicated now! Are you able to wash the blanket? And if so, how do you make sure that the knots made don't come out?
yes ive washed it on delicate cycle and it has held up for years!!
