VN800 Bobber - Part 11 "Flakes, Lace and Candy"
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 вер 2024
- Painting the gas tank and fender. After doing body work, I sprayed primer filler, metallic silver paint, flakes, clear coat to bury the flakes, sand the clear coat with 600 grit, applying the graphic and candy, sprayed 3 coats of clear to smooth the tape line, sand with 1000 grit, spray another 3 coats of clear! Still need to wet sand 1500-2000 grit and buff.... I used Createx Candy20 for the color, I use their Yellow, Tequila Orange and Dirt Track Brown, I also use some black.

You never fail to amaze me. This is insane. It's making me rethink my rattle can paint job. Great job
Looks awesome 👌
Thanks Mate 🙌🏻
So this is your first time? This is really good. Especially for a first time. Cool bike! I'm also a spraypaint hobbyist learning, like you. Did a few helmets and bike parts. One small tip you probably already figured out if I may: When airbrushing dark colors like the black shadows, reduce a lot and build up in very light coats. It's a lot easier to control and it gives you better atomization. If you use Createx, mix some 4030 into the paint and reduce with 4011. According to Createx, that mix can be saved in a bottle for months. Sorry, don't want to be a smart ass, just sharing what I found works well for me.
Thanks Mattias, I really appreciate the tips! I did realize that the black was also much thicker than the candy, but now it make sense, and you're right it sounds much better to build up rather than having too much. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Well done. This looks better than quite a few of the You tube "experts" work buddy. I love to see the old techniques still being used. ATB.
Thanks Russtatt, I really appreciate it. Old techniques are the best, next I need to play with some gold leaf. More painting project are coming, stay tune. Cheers Mate.
Sir, your paint job is amazing. Ride that bike with PRIDE!!😎👍

Just kidding, thanks mate and ride safe 🙌🏻

When your sanding clearsoat, WET SAND, for some reason it comes out smoother
Yes I do wet sand now when I can, unless I am working with wood like skateboard or guitar. Even the little amount of water will get soaked into the wood, by the mounting hole of a skateboard for example. Live and learn 😉
Amazing, you are a talented painter
amazing paint job.. great work man!

Bloody great that
Entire tank painted with airbrush ? .. nice :D
Well, I thought I will have more control with the airbrush rather than my big spray gun 😉 Thanks for watching 👍🏻
@@lesagecustoms4668 awesome work forgot to write that :D
Nice, painting is not easy..ill send my tank and fender over

I just loved it. Great great job... would you like to spend some time in the Switzerland and paint mine? 😁😁😁😁
I would love to!! 😃
Whenever you want bro
be my guest.. 😉😊😊😁
Salut. Super Boulot!
@@lesagecustoms4668. Merci beaucoup pour l'info !
Bonne continuation !
Hi. Congratulation! It's very nice for "a first time!" :). Jeff (from Belgium)

I remember the good old days when I would tear a motorcycle down and work on it inside. Then I got married.
Haha 😂, yes you got it right, not married anymore!! 😃
Hey I airbrush on Amazon boxes too!!!
rad channel. Do you take work?
Hey just wondering what's the names of the colours you yoused great job 👏
Thanks 🙌🏻
All the paint is a Candy2o from Createx. There is some Tequila Yellow, Grabber Orange, Dirt Track Brown and Lemon Yellow.
Awesome! I'm prepping a carbon fiber bicycle frame for custom paint and this is totally inspirational. I know you used kandies but how did you achieve the beautiful sparkle? Did you use a metal flake mixed into an intercoat or clearcoat? If you are willing to share I'd appreciate it!
Hi Lee, thanks for the kind words 🙌🏻.
Yes as you can see in some other of my videos, I prime then use a metallic silver base and then spray the flakes mixed with clear coat. Good luck with your project, carbon frame sounds pretty cool 😉
Nice job man is that a Honda 600
Kawasaki VN800, thanks for watching.
I tried that underwear trick, all I managed to paint is the timing chest and the primary.
Haha, no underwear were hurt during this video 😂
Wow Cool!!!!
Hi, good job on your bike . I would like to know with the new gas tank do you still have the airbox understand the new tank ou you relocate the airbox.
Hi Pete, no more airbox. This is part of the EPA stuff. You can get rid of all of that. It is call scooterizing. Here is a link to how to:
www.angelfire.com/ak5/russwolf/airbox.html
Hi, thanks for your reply .can you please tell me after the scooterize of the filter box do the motorcycle sound louder...I ask this question is because of the regulation of motorcycle in Europe.
@@PIT72100 no it does not change the sound level, but if you have to do an emission test for pollution, you should not remove it as it may or may not pass the test. You will have to rejet the carb as mention in the website I provided you. Here in Florida there is no emission control. I know in France they do when a vehicle get older it have to pass a test to see if it does not pollute over a certain level 😉
For the candy paint did use ready to paint candy paint for the airbrush hey what brand of candy paint did you use for the
I use Candy2O from Createx, this is a great product, I mix it with some 4050 from Createx too and it spray very nicely, and it is cheap.
Ótimo
Obrigado 👍🏻
can't find a tank for my Vulcan. any help would appreciated.
Are you looking for an original vn800 one? Look on ebay I find some that will need a little body work and a paint job, but for less than $200 you could find one.
Salut, super sympa ce projet, j'ai bien envie de m'en faire une aussi!
Merci, vas y lance toi, tu verras, on y prend vite goût 😉

Sorry for the late reply, Yes it was for the bike I built. sold the bike since, getting ready for a new built, stay tune and thanks for watching
What kind of air brush paint did you use.. what's the name of the brand
The paint is Createx, they have opaque, I use the black to spray all the design, and then use the candy (translucide) color from Createx too called Candy2o.
Awesome work! What kind of airbrush do you use?
Thanks Pauline, you can find the link of the airbrush in the description of the video, cheap one 😉
Semble fantastique
How much would u charge to do this for me in canada
Hi Matthew, shoot me an email:
frenchyinflorida@gmail.com
What type of compressor do you use?
For the airbrush I was using at this time a Bostitch, plenty of air for airbrush. But for primer and clear I had a big 3.5hp compressor.
Where did you get the airbrush tho?
Hi, the link is in the description, thanks for watching.
what type of air compressor set up do you have? great work!
Hi, thanks. For this project I had a Bostitch 6 Gal, normal compressor. i since switch to an airbrush compressor, so much comfortable, you don't have to deal with so much noise.
@@lesagecustoms4668 good to know! with the airbrush compressor youre able to lay down thick base coats/clear coats as well?
@@surafelmakonnen2212 no not really, you will need something bigger to use with normal paint gun for thick primer.
Great job, What brand of paint did you use and what colors?
Hi thanks for the nice comment. The base is a silver metallic base, then it is some flakes mixed with clear. And the candy are from Createx Candy2o.
Colors are tobacco brown, tequila yellow and yellow, plus some basic black for the lace and the other design. I hope this help.
@@lesagecustoms4668 Thanks, again it looks great.
WHAT DID YOU USE FOR THE FINAL? TO RESIST GAS LIFTING IF SPILLED
Hi, the final coat is a 2k Urethane clear coat. this is the same finish as for car, so it is gas proof.
The only location that would need attention is by the filler, where the paint stop, the gas can go underneath and start lifting from there. My solution is to use some clear JB Welding and apply some lightly all around where the paint meet the bare metal. I hope this help.
@@lesagecustoms4668 yes, thank you. And thanks for the inspiration. Im about to do my tank and fender and plan on doing something similar to 2hat youve done. Oh , and good work
@@ronniefrutschi2011 Thanks 🙌🏻, take your time for the taping that's the most important 😉
@@lesagecustoms4668 oh I know what you mean. I've painted before and agree , taping makes 99 percent of the job
@@lesagecustoms4668 wish i could send you pics of what I did
4:29 what are you spraying on right here clear coat?
Hi, thanks for watching!
That was the candy brown that I started spraying.
@@lesagecustoms4668 ok thanks. I want to do my full face helmet kinda like this , and having this awesome video for reference will really help!
@@Deerslyr81 thanks a lot, feel free if you have any questions, my email is in the description, have fun 😉
@@lesagecustoms4668 definitely will do thanks again.
What type of candy did you use?
Createx Candy2o
how paint you use for airbrush?
Very little, but remember this is candy, it is not made to cover up, your base coat. But I mix the paint with some clear and something else from the same brand. You should be able to do a few project with the 8oz bottle, I did my tank fender and helmet, and I may have use 25% of bottle.
I have a vn800 impressed by your custom bike, but i am disappointed with the oil tank pattern. People who hate it can terrorize you because the oil tank symbol for you is synonymous with Hitler's symbol hakenkreuz.
Well, sir you have to explain to me where do you see a oil tank in this video! If you refer to the gas tank I don't see anything related to Nazi!!
@@lesagecustoms4668 The war crime flag used by Japan in World War II is designed on the right side of the gas tank. Asians feel the same way they feel on a Haken Cruise.
If you are talking about the sun rays, that is definitely not the same as what you are talking about. Sun ray pattern is extremely popular in the kustom paint world
ahh I see what you mean, well I had no idea it was related with anything like war time!!! I have to say that I saw a lot of design using the same pattern and never thought it could be related to some stuff like that! I understand what you are saying now, I had no idea! There were no intention to hurt anyone, it is for me a design that I also use for the helmet that i painted. Thank you for bringing some light on that subject.
All through air brush WILD
