This is the best, a condensed chronological history of the origin of the Restored Church of Latter Day Saints . What courage, faith and endurance the saints have when pressed by the world. Thank you so much for this great work you are doing. I am an 82 year old former Baptist minister, I joined this Church 50 years ago with my father also a former Baptist minister whom I had the blessing to Baptize along with 14 member of my family and 4 generations the 1st year. This Church is True. I am the current Seminole Florida 2 Ward organist. Thank you again brother Pettit

I’ve been watching many of your videos about the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I want to thank you for all your kind & sincere efforts in helping many of us better visualize church history events, especially this one! We’ve taken a Church History tour about 9 years ago & are getting ready to leave for our Kirtland, Ohio Historic Sites mission. My husband has some ancestors who helped Joseph Smith build the Nauvoo Temple & I’m a convert from Germany. I thank the Lord for His many miracles and blessings.👏🤩🇺🇸

I was born in Independence, Missouri. Remember that those were the same Missourians who terrorized Kansas during the period before and during the Civil War. That was who the members of the church faced when they moved into Independence.

@@coffeedrinkingisnotasin6049 Hello Rebecca, I recommend looking up "Bleeding Kansas" as a start. If you live in Missouri or Kansas go over to Fort Riley where the first Kansas Capital building was built. In Warrensburg library there is a book on the Mormon Wars, there were people who were proud of going with the Army to fight the Mormons like their fathers and grandfathers did. The same people who terrorized and ran out the Mormons stealing their property are the same people who carted over to Kansas and incorporated Kansas as a state without a single vote from those who lived in Kansas. They were the same people who fought for the south during the war on that side of Missouri. But fighting for the south basically meant terrorizing Kansas throughout the Civil War. My great grandfather Robert Walker Hodges fought against those terrorists who called themselves soldiers. After the war gangs of robbers formed from those same people. I'm sure you don't want the entire history.

"Saints" page 37, cross referenced with Lucy Smith History page 105

No Emma Smith was not the "right" person as claimed. I looked at the refrences that were given and in the "Saints" and in Lucy Smith history (it was actually page 106) they both just mention Emma was with Joseph. It does not say anything about her being the person the Angel allegedly mentioned.
According to LDS living Alvin Smith was the "Right" person to go with Joseph. Alvin died before this could happen. Guess the Angel didn't see that coming.

I heard somewhere that Joseph Smith said a word or phrase that was meant to be a plea for assistance to Freemasons, knowing that there were fellow Mason's in the mob, at Carthage. The plea (whatever it was) went unanswered. Do you have any knowledge of this story?

You are correct that Alvin was the right person, but then he died. The need to have someone with him was still a relevant commandment. The references in Saints and Lucy's History are correct in that Joseph was commanded to bring Alvin, but he was dead by the time Joseph was permitted to obtain the plates. The LDS Living article has many errors and only one reference (Joseph Knight’s Recollection of Early Mormon History,” BYU Studies 17, no. 1 (1976): 2.) However, the author fails to complete the quote from Joseph Knight in which he quotes Joseph as saying that he (Joseph) had it revealed to him through a seer stone that Emma was "the right person". She went to the hill, and Joseph obtained the plates. Joseph Knight Sr was at the Smith home the night Joseph and Emma went to the hill. Joseph Knight Sr said that Joseph Smith announced at that time that Emma was the right person.

@@storiesoftherestoration2080 in the refrence you provided of "Saints" page 37 it says when they got to the hill Emma waited in the carriage. On page 38 it says found Emma after he was done. She didn't go with him to the hill. Joseph had a way of things not going the way of his "revelations" but always had the out. His out was that the "revelation" will only occur if you are righteous enough. So there was never a way to test if his revelations were true since it always had an out.

Love your lectures. Very well done.
But I have to disagree with you about the people of Hans Mill being martyrs. Those people deliberately disobeyed Joseph Smith’s order to leave Hans Mill. Thus making any repercussions of their actions Their own and not Martyrdom. But disobedience to a Prophets command. See “ Church History “ book sorry can’t remember which volume. Horrible what happened to them but they brought it upon them selves because of disobedience.

Hi Troy. Thank you for the comment. The researchers at the Joseph Smith Papers have discovered that Jacob Haun was in Far West on business and Joseph asked him to give the Saints at the mill a message. Joseph did ask those Saints to come to Far West for safety, but, Haun never delivered the message. The Saints never knew Joseph asked them to come to Far West!
