Thank you for posting this one, I really enjoyed Von Stronheim's performance. Such a genius who was ill-used by Hollywood; it's quite sad to think of his early days and what an exceptional talent that was wasted.

Delightful surprise. The script is very good, and von Stroheim is unique. He was always a fine actor, and here he has many good lines to deliver with his witty, stylish mannerisms.

A charming film....
Well PF it was a bit slow, but the cast just grows on you as you watch and, I'm a sucker for an unusual romance with a hopeful ending and a bad guy turned good by a sweet soul, my softer side. Good Pic.

Now I'm going to be BOLD and ask you a nearly impossible (?) thing: Could you by any chance upload that GREAT MASTERPIECE: La Grande Illusion? "The Great Illusion). With E v Stroheim, Jean Gabin and a very good French actor whose name I don't remember just now. Film Directed by Jean Renoir. It's one of the Masterpieces of the History of Cinema...

This is a good movie. I enjoyed Erich von Stroheim's performance. Was he even speaking German? He sounded like he was just grunting and yelling while speaking Klingon. I would love to see more movies with EvS in them. Thank you.
He spoke German (and French) with an American accent, as noted by his fellow artists.

but who cares, really: when von Stroheim appears
onscreen (in Grand Illusion) with a brace on
a broken neck, he commands the screen.
@@Jivanmuktishu EvS is always great. I do care about what I am listening to. I like languages. I found it fascinating that while I could hear the other actors speaking recognizable languages, I could not hear EvS speaking one. In the scene where he is getting dressed to address the troups waiting outside his window, I just hear grunts and yells coming from him, not a language. Can anyone here identify and translate what he is saying in that scene?
