That "smoker's friend" is really cool! Tried looking on ebay for one but had no luck, are they called something else because searching "smoker's friend" just brings up cigarette stuff
I'm curious to know how one can tell the difference between bakelite and other types of generic plastic materials. Any pointers by chance? Awesome collection though! Some pretty interesting items in there that you never get the chance to see.
There are little tricks like dunking it in hot water for a while. If the water turns a yellow tinge, it's probably Bakelite. If you rub it with your thumb for a while then sniff it, if it smells kinda like eggs, then again it's probably Bakelite :-) There are unique visual and tactile qualities that are difficult to put into words that you learn to sense after a while though. I can pretty much tell if it's Bakelite at a glance now.
Sweet little lamp with the experimental switch! Things just shouldn't be that shape! :D
Gotta love the smell of asbestos in the morning!
Yeah man, it's great stuff!
Thanks for watching, guy I definitely don't know in real life! :-)
Can you tell me what batteries you used in your DLI Flamingo.

Just search for "bakelite box", man. That's how I find a lot of my stuff, including this :-)
