- THE CLASSIC TALES OF YES USA TOUR 2023
Following last year’s sold-out U.S. tour, YES, who are Steve Howe (guitars, vocals), Geoff Downes (keyboards), Jon Davison (vocals, acoustic guitar), Billy Sherwood (bass guitar, vocals), and Jay Schellen (drums), have today (July 17) announced their “Classic Tales Of Yes” tour in the U.S. starting September 21 in Bethlehem, PA and ending November 4 in Riverside, CA. Look for the tour-which is the latest presentation of their ongoing concert series illuminating their classic music-to include many iconic tracks from the influential and pioneering Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees’ catalog covering 50-plus years as well as music from their acclaimed new album MIRROR TO THE SKY (released May 19 on InsideOutMusic/Sony Music).
Looking forward to the “Classic Tales of Yes” tour, STEVE HOWE said: “We’re putting together a great setlist covering the length and breadth of YES’ career.”
“As always, we are committed to pushing new boundaries and are very excited to be performing another chapter in the rich legacy of the band,” added GEOFF DOWNES.
The evening will begin with an on-site presentation by world-renowned English artist and designer Roger Dean, whose masterful artwork of striking other-worldly landscapes has graced classic album covers and posters, most prominently by YES and Asia. Every show will feature a Roger Dean gallery in the venue’s reception/foyer area. His work - which also appears on the cover of MIRROR TO THE SKY - has sold more than one hundred million copies worldwide.
I just saw this tour last night in Nashville, IN and it blew me away! My ONLY issue was not enough Mirror To The Sky. But what an incredible show!!
You had me going for a moment. I thought, "THEY CAME TO NASHVILLE????" But I'm in the Tennessee version. 😆
Cool, that is one hell of a complex composition.
Going to see them tomorrow night outside of DC.
this incarnation of Yes is brilliant, and i still love all the 70’s albums.
This is a great track, wonderful tribute from Billy to his mentor and friend. What a bassline! What a tune.
Its 2023 the fact that YES still exists in any form is a blessing
Awesome! Billy bass is kicking it here. Bad ass moment at 4:29!
I am advid yes fan my hole life ! These songs have no direction!
I worked the revolving stage in 1990, Doo Wop Show feat. The Tokens at the Westbury Music Fest. A great experience. 😎
This is nothing like YES . Thank god for JOHN ANDERSON and the GEEKS.
Jon, not John ......
You’re obviously a devotee, considering you didn’t spell Jon Anderson’s name correctly.
when you were younger and yes came out with an album, you spent days and weeks consuming it and fell in love with it. The new albums need the same care and attention you're young soul gave the old ones, and then you will find that these new albums and songs are quite awesome, it may not be the exact same experience you had with the classics, but if you aren't putting in the time to absorb and understand the new tracks, that's your prerogative, but criticizing them without doing your homework is a pretty negative attitude for a fan of a band named Yes. I for one applaud all the members of Yes, past and present for creating intricate thoughtful music that transcends the dreadful pop music of the day....
Thanks so much for share this video. Great job, song, arrangement and performance. Virtuosos.
💯🎼
Of course it's a different band from the yes we knew in the seventies and the eighties, but I really like this new songs and all the musicians are really talented, not only the "flag bearer" Steve Howe
100% with you on this one. It's just such an amazing thing that the band without original members has continued to grow.
Their new album in incredible!
Yeah it's wicked. Between that and The Quest (and the belated 2008-2011 lineup release From a Page) Yes have had a considerably awesome output in the last decade including 3 phemonenal live albums. I'm currently doing a full transcription of Dare To Know at the moment and that song alone reflects the musicianship that's here (RIP Alan White!)
Great quality in video and sound. Thanks so much. A lot of boring boomer's comments as usual in any current Yes video. Fascinanting the need to comment about you dislike!
It's because I have followed YES since 1969 and this unit can't duplicate the vocals, the energy or the YES-vibe that was once a staple. This is not YES !
@@4absentfriends I assume that you also can't duplicate your voice, energy and vibe that you have in 1969. But it was you, i guess. It's like expecting that an artist of the 1905 sounded with the same vibe in 1969. Or maybe, dont watch videos of a band that "it's not" the band.
Yes, it's sad that some of my generation want it to be, and think that it can, be 1973 forever. If there's anything that we should have learned by living this long, it is that life is change. And the world doesn't care what we think about it.
Cool stage!
Like always..bad comments!! I am a fan from 1980 love all the lineups❤ and the Last Albums🥰🎼🎵🎶 i know Chris and Alan died R.I.P..Jon Anderson not at YES but i love the music..Old and New👍🤘🤟🙏
The YES i know and love died in 1976. All i’ve got now are some aging vinyls, and some awesome concert memories…RIP YES…😮
They were at their peak in 77 and the 78-79 tour. But yes 76 was a killer tour with Moraz. Best version of Ritual
great song!
This is more like it.
great tenor voice.
Two things bug me about this iteration of YES - never cared much for the cheesy sounds Geoff makes. Jon Davison does not have the rock grit Jon Anderson or even Benoit David had - he's just too lightweight.
He seems to be cut out for the theatre, singing in musicals would suit him fine.
Steve Howe turned down Andersons return also .-.

SHOW TIME ❤
This means that you can do better?
I just can't do it. This Jon just ain't doing anything for me.
Can't believe the nay Sayers in the comments!, we are all entitle to our options however the best of us know when to use them. Unless you can stand up on stage and do what these guys do and in Steve's case at 76 still touring the world I suggest you should be quite. Yes fans are not interested in your unsolicited comments thank you.
I am a Yes fan. This is not Yes but a scam and a grift. Go out and play the music that's fine, just don't call it Yes.
@@5qob You do know that they are fulfilling Squire's final wishes, right?
@@wardkaI am aware of that, which was said back in 2015. I'm not sure he would want to see this presented as Yes. All good things come to an end, Yes should as well. Keep the music alive, just retire the name.
Wonderful words!
@@wardkaYES I Do... I like YES! Great album! I'm brazilian and have this album and The Quest! Very, very wonderful! I Love YES!
It’s a pretty good studio track but, aside from Billy Sherwood’s excellent bass work (definitely an homage to Chris Squire) this is all over the place and, sadly, so weak - especially in the keyboard and lead vocal areas: a song like this would benefit from either Wakeman’s or Moraz’s technical flourishes (something Downes seems incapable of) and Davidson just doesn’t have the grit, power and effortless vocal chops to equal Jon Anderson - who’s STILL pushing out great performances of Yes classics with the Band of Geeks. As stated before, this track (and a few others) are fantastic studio/recorded pieces. Maybe THIS iteration of Yes should just concentrate on albums rather than live performances where they struggle a lot to recreate such complex tracks (and even, sadly, many of the classic older tracks - the last tour’s “On The Silent Wings Of Freedom” was distressingly bad).
it was pathetic . another classic butchered .
The drumming is behind the beat. Bruford and White always pushed the music. This makes it sound lacklustre and plodding.
@@scitsalcorypA classic? This song was released in 2023.
It’s an OK song….have to get used to it…not my favorite….but Whatever Steve wants …STEVE WILL GET😊
This is not, yes! Yes, I know, and who could play the beautiful music was Steve Howe Alan White, Rick Wakeman, and Chris Squire! these guys sound like a tribute band.AWR was so much better. It would have been great to see Steve play with them.
As much as I like Howe and downes - and Billy Sherwood too - Davidson cannot carry this band. Madrigals yes.
Yes? no.
Sorry... no Jon Anderson, no Chris Squire, no Alan White or Bill Bruford, no Rick Wakeman or Tony Kaye... NO Yes !
I agree... no Peter Banks, no Patrick Moraz, no Benoît David, no Trevor Horn, no Trevor Rabin, no Igor Khoroshev, no Tom Brislin, no Oliver Wakeman, no Steve Howe, no Jon Davison, no Billy Sherwood, no, Geoff Downes, no Jay Schellen... no, oh. wait.
My point is there is much more to Yes than "the sacred 3" albums and the past. The band is an idea more than a roster.
I find it's funny that people who like "progressive rock" are upset when it "progressives." Change (certainly perpetual in Yes' case) isn't always good, but it's the under pinning of the genre.
This song, and Mirror to the Sky can easily go head to head with a lot of Yes standards.
How many times do we have to listen to All Good People or Don't Kill the Whale. If I hear the latter played one more time, I'm going to buy a boat and a harpoon and hunt some down myself! LOL
I understand that it's hard to let go of something we treasure, but no one is forcing you to listen either.
This is steve howe's band not yes.
@@aviatorjoe4153good call!
Even the energy is all wrong, this is not YES
Studio version sounds great. The live version not so much. Yes with ARW is far superior. You simply can't be Yes without Jon Anderson. Wakeman and Rabin kill it too. The "Live at the Apollo" show with ARW is so tight and sounds damn near perfect.
In the studio I don’t mind new yes. But this seems like a rehearsal off strangers who don’t know how to perform together. If i critique the members off yes, we have Steve Howe who plays great (but thinks he is the band), Jon Davison who doesn’t have Jon andersons flair and all though I like him in the studio is shocking live, Geoff Downes has never strikes me as much off a yes legend on keyboards as he still can’t keep his Asia sound out of yes, the drummer doesn’t seem to be a proper part of yes yet, and billy sherwood has impressed me he’s been the highlight on the last 2 albums for me
I know guys ..I spelled Jon Anderson’s name wrong
First, lose the band name; this is NOT YES. Secondly, perform the songs from the 3 releases you recorded; along with 'Drama' & 'Fly from Here' if you must.
Sorry i can't stand it, and Steve Howe is by far my favorite guitarist of all time. If you really want to hear the real Yes of today, with soul, youthfull energy and inspiration, have a look on Shine On, by Anderson and the Band Geek.
SH is also my favourite guitarist but was really intrigued by Billy Sherwoods driving base lines on this one (sounds so much like Chris here) but I think the lack of stage presence of all the band members makes me think I would be snoozing through much of the show which never would have happened at a vintage Yes concert. I am sorry to say. Perhaps when they played some classics it may have gotten a little better but not sure.
I’m sorry …but I just can’t take it..THIS IS NOT YES….i know it’s the new album they came out with….I CAN NOT deal with it…YES IS A GROUP. of musicians playing progressive music which is suppose to put you in a different realm of music…NOT THIS….I DONT KNOW WHAT TO SAY ABOUT THIS GROUP OF MUSICIANS PLAYING YES MUSIC…IT IS NOT YES…maybe from most of you it is…..I enjoyed going …but know I wouldn’t pay a dime to see them..unless they had JON ANDERSON on vocals…STEVE HOWE IS NOT YES!!!
This is not progressive? It's the most prog thing they've done in a decade at least.
Shite....compare this to the ARW tour....
Jon and the Band Geeks.
This is the second time around. They sounded great the first time they even "met".
I'm sure the music will be much tighter, and Jon's voice rested.
Close your eyes, and you probably can't tell the difference from 1977.
Or 72, or 84, 91, 01.
I love Billy's music, solo, World Trade, CIRCA etc...but this is Horrible.
Check out Rabin's Rio, if you haven't already. Excellent.
I’m old school Yes. Seen them so many amazing times. I do actually like this song… it has something?
Unfortunately, they only blame Jon Davison, Geoff doesn't just look good on Asia, too weak for the sound of yes, it's not even being tacky, it's thinking he can replace the beautiful work of the previous keyboardists.
A blend of old Asia and new wannabe Yes. Sad that the real Yes died with Chris I'm afraid 😢
No its the real yes
@@dannymacgyver Dude you have no clue
@@mtradz i do you don’t
@@dannymacgyvermost of the people on this site including *you* have never seen the original Yes or their first American tour, so stfu. Yes is dead. It died with Chris.
so sad but true
uninspiring. kind of criminal to call it YES. sounds more like a grind than sonic superiority.
Wow, not bad - but it is starting to sound a bit old!
Yes is death
this is so wrong
This is not Yes without Jon Anderson there is no soul in the band they are sounding very tired Steve Howe trying to hold this once great band together insulting to be called Yes
P r o m o S M
Horrible
I'm really tired of listening to Jon Anderson's widows
No
A poor cover band of Yes. I wish Steve Howe would get his head out of is a** and call it quits or either rename the band "Maybe".
