Jon Anderson's resurgence has made me realise the most important and defining element of Yes was and is Jon and if he's not singing you are listening to some other band. Steve may be a legend but Jon is a phenomenon of nature and comes from a higher realm.
I just watched a bit of Jon w/band geeks doing Close to the Edge in NJ a week ago and Jon still has that voice. I guess if they have too many differences to play as a band then so be it. We still get a some iteration of the band still out there, so thats the good part.
I can’t agree more with that sentiment. I saw Jon Anderson this past Saturday playing live with the Band Geeks… and from the very first notes of the Firebird Suite, there was that magical YES feeling I haven’t felt since seeing him play with YES in 2004. It’s indescribable but there is something special about his presence that takes the whole concert experience to an unbelievable high level spiritually. I do not get that feeling from the current incarnation of YES. The level of playing from the Band Geeks was amazing and very tight as well… extremely talented group of musicians.… they’ve done their homework for sure, so I walked out of there feeling that I witnessed one of the best YES experiences of my life!
Just got back from Jon and Band Geeks show in Hershey. Go if you have the chance! If you are a major (or casual) Yes fan there is zero chance you will be disappointed. The energy of the band makes things sound fresh again. I swear Jon sounds as good as ever which is completely bonkers for a guy that is a few months away from 80.
I saw Jon Anderson and the band geeks and Jon was forgetting lyrics, the band geeks were skipping sections of the song to cover Jon, and the mix was bad. Both bands play well and there’s no need to send hate either way. Get a life
@@hpatss4966 We don't hate Steve's band, we just love Jon, and I've watched numerous videos of the Band Geeks and Paul Green's students with Jon and I haven't noticed him forgetting lyrics or the band having to skip too much (especially not the Band Geeks). I probably wouldn't go to see Yes these days but would see Jon and the Band Geeks in a heartbeat should they visit Australia.
As for Jon Anderson! He honestly has not lost much of his high notes hes in fantastic shape for nearly 80 year old and i see him last year with the Geeks and going this year , the music is stunning, Awaken and Gates and Soon still gives me goosebumps, Jon Anderson deserves all the credit when it comes to Yes still being a viable band , Chris and Jon founded the band
This was a second comment to my first comment about Jon Davison who is a decent singer but ! Not much and that Jon Anderson with the Geeks is a solid singer still at 80 year old
Thanks for posting this. Wasn't in Glasgow but caught the same set in York a few days later on the 28th. Superb! The band were tight and played a wonderful mix of tracks, including a lengthy Topographic Oceans medly and the lovely It Will Be a Good Day from the Ladder. Great band, Steve Howe a legend!
I'm not hating anyone in this incarnation of Yes ! But at some points its hard to listen to! Jon D came in and revived them but his voice is a hard sell and after Chris and Alan passed ots just not what i want to hear, their all great musicians but id rather listen to the records then go to their concerts
The sound of the drummer is much too loud. It is irritating. Since Chris and Alan are not there anymore, the unique sound of the band is gone. How can you step in at Chris's place with a total different bass sound, as that sound is the foundation of the band. Sorry, then you go only for the money. Start to buy a Rickenbacker instead of the free bass guitar you now use. Record your performance and listen back to how you have played it and how it sounds It’s NOT YES anymore.😢
Not surprised by so many 'Band Geek' and Jon Anderson references in these posts. Find one of their videos and compare them to this output from 'Yes'. This is just a 'tribute' band now. ❤️ Jon Anderson
I won't go to any Yes shows anymore since Jon Anderson is not there , I just prefer the original sound of Jon's voice, I saw him and the Geeks it was Classic Yes all the way, I think these guys are good and Steve is actually keeping it together, but it's not anything near Jon Anderson and the keyboards I never got into Geoff
I am a high school student in Japan and I love YES. I can't see the members who are already gone, such as Chris Squire, or Yes what it used to in person. But I am happy enough to see them live.♪🎸
Something's going wrong. Probably because I look at the video's of the recent concert of Jon Anderson with the Band of Geeks I'm getting spammed in my newsfeed
But they've sold more records than you ever will.... Nothing wrong with Davidson's voice. It's Sherwood and Howe who aren't matching his range and are sounding "unwell-tempered". Time yet to add a couple of (female) professional backing vocalists, and it would sound more harmonious.

Well Stated

@@emseub01 With both their knowledge and love of great contemporary music the Band Geeks are the perfect group for Jon.

With all due credit to Steve Howe, this is a Yes tribute band.
Yes cover band. Jon Anderson is the real deal!
Saw "Jon and The Band Geeks" last night. They ran rings around this current "version" of yes.
I saw the Monday show, and agree, this is a traveling shit show compared to what Jon and the Band Geeks are doing.
absolutely
They should name this version of Yes, “Jon and The Band Freaks”
I saw Jon Anderson and the band geeks and Jon was forgetting lyrics, the band geeks were skipping sections of the song to cover Jon, and the mix was bad. Both bands play well and there’s no need to send hate either way. Get a life

Jon Anderson isn't in the band anymore. This is Jon Davison
This was a second comment to my first comment about Jon Davison who is a decent singer but ! Not much and that Jon Anderson with the Geeks is a solid singer still at 80 year old
He delivers a decent version of Yes music but doesn't grab you emotionally like the current Jon Anderson / Band Geek output. @marc-lporter6201

Hate to say it. While they sound fine, this has nowhere near the energy that Jon and The Band Geeks display in their performances.
Amen!
Yes ended 6/30/79 - The last show of the Tormato tour. They have been fake or below average for 44 years. The best ever for 9 years. 1971 -1979

I am really feeling bad for these guys who now sound like the imitators to JON ANDERSON'S SHOW!

The current U.S. Tour has had several cancelled shows in a few cities, but the YES camp is in total denial.
Seeing Yes and Deep Purple tonight! So excited!
This is not Yes anymore. Not without Jon Anderson anyway.
I was there but didn't see anyone else using their phones so didn't want to use mine! Thanks for doing this - a good memory of a great show.
There was a lad next to me taking video so I did it too. Must admit it felt a bit awkward! But glad I did it. You are right, great memory!
For the want of all those many years ago iam sure I know😅
cant even watch this
Haters are SO sad
ugh
Yes is Jon. sad
good god they are awful. Poor Steve Howe. If you watch some of Anderson's recent shows THAT band is SO MUCH better.
They blow this tired nonsense away.
terrible

Another great show from a fab band, love hearing all these songs. Thanks for the video. 😃😃😃
It’s not the anymore. It’s lost its spark , I didn’t get halfway with this video.
G. Downes he is good in Asia very bad in YES
This isn't Yes so it's no big deal.
He's clueless.
Y’all need to get lives!!
This is Yes, and Geoff performs admirably.
@@rcpsammy7186wrong 😂
The wizard of the keyboard is who? He wears a long cape. Rick Wakeman? Downes is pretty good, at least they still play.
....no
Superb
