Osmo Door-Oil is a unique oil and wax combination designed to protect interior veneered wooden doors. The unique formulation penetrates the wood surface which remains microporous and whilst the finish will not crack, peel, flake or blister. The surface also becomes healthy and elastic, and the wood's fibres are prevented from becoming dry and brittle over time as well as shrinking and swelling.
The wood's true beauty is accomplished by using Osmo Door-Oil. The emphasis on the wood's grain and natural characteristics provides a warm and rich effect to ensure that any interior room looks luxurious and elegant. Each wood has its own style and unique charm, and is seductive from the first sight.
I've actually use this stuff today and it's fantastic. It certainly brings the grain out the timber it's a little bit expensive but it's worth it. Spend once save later ..
Would be nice to see how it looks when dry.
Saw your vid last night and put it to good use today, my question is....on starting, is tap tap, side to side in metric or imperial ;) .. have to say ive not oiled doors before and they look great using your technique. Thank you for posting
Barry this is just fantastic work

We are using this product on all the doors. New build housing. Swindon. Stunning 😉 classic. PROPAINTER
Do you have a link? thanks
Great video, super helpful! Thank you!
So u don’t do any edges ?
Hi, would you use the same process when applying Danish oil to a door? In my case it's Douglas Fir, or would you stick to applying the oil with a cloth?? Cheers
Great video Barry, I'm looking at this product for my doors and wondered what it will be like on an old pine table? It hasn't any waxes on as I sanded them off years ago. Thanks
Great video. Really helpful
Hi Barry, what do you recommend to finish pine doors and skirting. I've bought a few varnish colours and don't like them. I want more of a natural finish with a little shine to it. Thanks
Hi Hassan, have you tried the osmo oil in the video, it’s better than varnish as it won’t peel... and it drys to a semi sheen
Hi, What finish have you used on the doors clear matt, clear satin? they look lovely. Thanks for posting
What oil are you using again I missed the full name Osmo..........
how do you remove
Hi Barry, ho w many coats would you give an oak veneer door? Do you sand in between coats?
Hi Paul.... 2 coats applied thinly would be fine... and a gentle sand between coats... see if you can one of those sanding pads or some fine grade sandpaper etc
@@barryma10 thanks for that Barry.
Stunning 😍
What's the odour like, is it strong?
Hi Barry. I've got the Osmo Door Oil for my oak veneer doors. Is the application method the same?
Ka B yeah... just a very thin coat.. let it dry, slight rub down then apply another thin coat 😊
Thanks very much for your prompt reply Barry...was expecting to wait weeks! When you say 'rub down lightly', do you mean with one of those non abrasive things? Would a non stick scourer do the same thing? Fine wire wool? Sorry to ask so many questions, but I need to do this properly and only once!
Ka B No problem, yeah fine wire wool will do it. When the first coat is dry it will feel rough.. lightly rub over until it’s smooth.. remove the dust and and loose bits of wire wool .. ie by a Hoover and you are ready to go 😊
Cheers Barry, you're a star!
Ka B let me know how you get on 😊
works over oil stain?
Great video. How many coats do you need to apply?
Jeremy Dobson many thanks 😊😊 just 2 thin ones will do it, then in a few years just 1 coat to give them a freshen up .. hope that helps
Lovely finish. Would you oil the edges after you've done the door faces or is it best the other way around? Thanks.
+Julie Chandler Hi Julie, thank you for the compliment. Always do the edges first, this will stop any build up on the finished faces. :-)
3 mins to paint one side of a door. Impressive
Thank you Bartoni 🙏 😊
could you please tell me exactly what varnish were you using in this video
Here you go... I used the satin finish www.google.co.uk/shopping/product/5336013603804044720?q=osmo+original+hardwax+oil&psj=1&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&biw=1249&bih=592&bvm=pv.xjs.s.en.jmw5uQvp5VE.O&tch=4&ech=1&psi=F57_U9uODKSP7Abt-YHIAQ.1409261190401.3&wrapid=tljp140926119787710&ei=eZ7_U7zDCMaf7Aafq4G4AQ&ved=0CIcBEKYrMAM
What would you recommend for oak veneer doors?
The same stuff Dean… it will make them look amazing.. just don’t apply it too thick 😊
Hi, is it important to sand the doors down first, I’ve just had 4 internal doors fitted but there untreated, I’ve bought the osmo oil and a cloth to apply it, but should I use a brush?
A brush is much quicker - the oil will otherwise soak into the cloth.
1970alexays thank you my friend
Both are fine... you could sand very lightly at first but you will definitely need to sand after the first coat has dried as it will lift the grain
Barry Mason thanks Barry 👍
Hi Barry. How many tubs would you say I would need for 9 oak doors? Thanks
Leaves the wood looking natural, not plastic coated, and it resists yellowing better while protecting the wood from water, dirt, and staining. Superior product.
Hy Barry jus found your vids. Nice work.
Iv got what I'm pretty certain is a sapele hardwood shelf I'm going to do tomo. What brush would you suggest, natural, synthetic or them foam brushes? Thank you
Scott Mclean what material are you using to do your shelf? Thank you for the compliment 😊👍
@@barryma10 the same osmo polyx solid state you have
Scott Mclean is great finish can be achieved just by wiping it on thinly with a lint free cloth... no need for a brush 😊
@@barryma10 mate help me out with the material you used. Which osmo oil as I like the color
ghaith zen here you go 😊 www.google.co.uk/search?q=osmo+original+hardwax+oil&psj=1&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&biw=1249&bih=592&bvm=pv.xjs.s.en.jmw5uQvp5VE.O&ech=1&psi=F57_U9uODKSP7Abt-YHIAQ.1409261190401.3&wrapid=tljp140926119787710&tbm=shop
What oil do you recommend for oak vaneer
I would use the same material in the video... just apply it very thinly 😊
What size brush are you using here?
Hi Mark, think it was a 2 inch or possibly 2.5 😊
@@barryma10 can you remember if was a silicone brush
Do i need to cover up glass in a shaker door for treatment? Got laminate on still from the factory but one or two were peeling so took them off.
+Daniel Eason Hi Daniel, sorry for my late reply. I would remove the laminate and apply this masking tape. I have used it on many occasions and it has never let me down www.tesa.co.uk/craftsmen/precision_mask/indoor. Good luck :)
+Barry Mason cheers mate. poly is great stuff, one coat seems to be fine. covered 6 doors
Daniel Eason Hey Daniel, i have six doors to do also mate. I'm guessing a 2 5 litre tin will do. i was going to use the poly type as well. have you got any pics?
Stuart i did two coats with a litre. probably should had done three. You will get a good finish with this stuff once it dries.
Daniel Eason Thank for replying Dan. A litre tin goes a long way then :-)
That's what you would call Poper Professional Painter.
Hi what grain sanding paper ? We have new hard wood oak Doors
Hi, I used one of those medium grade sponge sanding blocks, they are great for this kind of work and to de-nib between coats www.screwfix.com/p/flexovit-sanding-sponges-medium-coarse-pack-of-6/70902?tc=CA6&ds_kid=92700022649300944&ds_rl=1249481&ds_rl=1245250&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqZP8nYqb2wIVC5ztCh0OPgjgEAQYAiABEgIUdfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CNajoaOKm9sCFaqiUQodN08OAw
@@barryma10 Could you just answer the question? Your links are not valid anymore.
Hey Barry, What type of sanding pad have you used to prep the door. Thanks.
Hi Tommy, I used a foam sanding block, www.ebay.co.uk/itm/40-x-WET-AND-DRY-FOAM-SANDING-BLOCKS-PADS-SANDPAPER-120-grit-/291281995382
like those in the link. You can buy them from markets for 50p each. I find them excellent for getting into tongue and grove. Hope this helps :)
Barry Mason Thanks.
Barry Mason would you pre sand a unfinished oak veneer door as well Barry. I have six oak veneer shaker doors to paint have you got any tips on how to approach painting them.
If it's not been coated before you could very lightly rub down with a sanding pad first...then apply a coat of osmo oil... after the first coat is dry the grain will raise... in other words it will feel rough.. then lightly rub down again until nice and smooth and apply a 2nd finishing coat... I will find a link for a sanding pad

How to remove plaster stain from untreated oak doors
great!!
Hello would this work on Howdens Oak Veneer doors?
christopher hutton I would of thought so... just try a little bit ion the rear of the door and see what happens 😊
No , oak veneer doors are not recommended with this osmo , as the veneer could lift in time , but I haven't had problems with it before i knew this , they have a osmo door oil
Yes been applying it for years with perfect results.
Quick sand with very fine sandpaper between coats
Looks like a top lad
Cheers David 😊
@@barryma10keep it up bro👍🏼
Try Woodoc mate, I have moved away from hardwax oils and never looked back, for doors the W10 (satin/silky finish) www.woodoc.biz/collections/indoor/products/woodoc-10 is great or Woodoc 5 (the Matt) (www.woodoc.biz/collections/indoor/products/woodoc-5) is absolute stunning. AND if you put it on tables cope with temperatures up to 180 deg C. No more worries for cup of teas etc!
mate the first half of the upper door would have pushed to the lower. Osmo is not a lay on product.
More worries about the lid 😅

What a fuckin 🌟 I've got 15 2do
I check a lot of woodworking handbooks. These one from woodprix are the best.
Way too expensive.
Why would use such a thick brush?
Way to much been applied.
Other than that good video.
