Hi Supernova, Thanks very much for watching and for your comment, I`m really glad that you are finding this new style of video interesting/useful, I wasn't sure if they would be of value to my audience so this comment helps, thank you.
Hi Valisk, Your very welcome, thanks for watching and for dropping me a comment. I assume the wife`s going to be along side you with a paint brush then too :-) Good luck, they are great when done, mine are still looking fab 2 years on.
Hi, All good, I`ve had no issues with them at all. The doors and handles are still working and lookin great. Thanks for watching and for dropping a comment
Hi Bobby, Thanks for watching and for dropping a comment. You don`t need to be a tradesman as such but I`m not 100% sure if you need a company name and number to open an account. I advise giving your local branch a quick call and asking them. Sorry I cant be of more help.
Howdons recommended using a cloth, I want to use a brush, but customer wants me to do what Howdon says. Have you ever used a cloth to apply? Also, the doors are already hung. Is it prone to running/curtains? Many thanks
Hi Brendan, I`ve not used a cloth so cant compare, however, I can tell you mine look great, you would never know the difference. I`d be very reluctant to do it with a brush if they have to stay hung, personally I`d take them off to work on them, especially if its for a customer. Thanks for watching and for dropping a comment
I used a brush because I had never used Osmo before and the doors were already hung so I got some runs at the bottom of the grooves which is why your supposed to use a cloth as the brush puts too much on, there is nothing wrong with using a brush for the grooves but for any flat areas a cloth is best and you must wipe the accumulated oil from the bottom ledge to stop runs forming ! 👍
Might be a silly question, but after having applied the oil on one side if the door, how long do you wait to flip the door over and apply it on the other side?
Hi, Thanks very much for watching and for dropping a comment, I would leave it a few hours at least, best to leave it over night if you can, you just want to ensure its fully dry so nothing sticks when you flip it over
I have stained pine floorboards light oak after sanding and they are bright orange. Someone has reccomended osmo oil to tone down the orange if I get the right osmo colour? Is this correct?
Great video and thanks for sharing! Do you know if your doors were solid oak or a vaneer? The piece of paper on my unfinished genoa glazed door says not to oil or wax - confusing... Im guessing it needs to be matt varnished... Also, how much darker did the osmo oil make the doors? I'm trying to match a factory finished genoa door
Hi, The doors are solid oak not glazed, it might be worth checking yours with the supplier as they will know if you can oil them. They did go quite a bit darker after I applied the oil, from a pale to a tan I would say. Good luck with your project.
I have 16 of these to do end of the week but they are the veneered ones do you recommend wiping off with a microfiber cloth in between can you see any brush marks after first or second coat please?
Hi Luke, 16 of them, wow you have your work cut out there. A microfibre wipe off would be good to ensure no dust has settled between coats. Brush marks don’t show, the oil soaks in nicely. I hope this helps
Hi Denice, Thanks very much for watching and for taking the time to drop a comment. I used the same oil on the fire door and didn't use a primer so unfortunately cant recommend one on this occasion. Thanks again for watching.
Great Video Thanks. Have exactly the same Howden doors and oil to treat. Did you feel they didn't need a rub down between coats as I've seen this recommended on other channels. Thanks 👍
Hi Richard, Thanks very much for watching and for your question. I didn’t rub them down and the finish is excellent, really smooth, looks and feels great even a couple of years on. I hope this helps
@@new2property thank you for replying much appreciated. Good to hear you just cleaned dust off and applied. I've got 6 to door and looking to light sand due to some damage (Howden's quality again). Did you wait 6hrs for each side to dry, or were they ready quicker than this?
Hi thanks for the video. i have the same doors and have ordered the same oil :) i have some pine stair spindles, do you know what color would match the doors after the oil? thanks
Hi Nitin, thanks very much for watching and for your comment. I don`t fully understand your question, I`m sorry. Do you mean a colour match for the walls next to the doors or a stain for the pine spindles?
@@new2property need a stain, varnish or oil to paint the pine spindles. on the Wickes site ive seen this "Wickes Quick Drying Interior Varnish - Natural Oak Satin 750ml" would you describe the doors as being a Natural Oak color after the oil. thanks
I don't see why not thinking about it. The only thing you need to watch is that you only use just enough for it to soak in rather than sitting and drying. I was impressed with the stuff though and the doors have held up well too, no issues at all with any of them or the oil.
Hi I've got 5 Howdens Holdenby Oak Doors to do, do you lightly sand them before applying the Osmo Raw Oil? Sadly they are fixed to the door frames and the carpenter has left the oiling to me. Thank you
Do not buy from Howdens . I bought some pre finished Oak doors and they don't look like they have been oiled . They are so white it's unbelievable. Stay away from Howdens

Both sides can take the lock,

Sand down with a sponge sanding pad between coats for a great finish. Ive just done 7 of them!
Thanks Chris
Which osmo oil did you use in the video? Satin or clear?
Hi Rahim,
The oil I used was clear satin, I hope this helps, thanks very much for watching and for your comment.
