  • For those of you who have upgraded your motor even slightly, (Dual Carbs, better ignition etc...) this is a "must do" upgrade. A deep oil sump.
    Gene Berg believed the increase in RPM's, and the speed in which the motor could turn them potentially could cause a NO OIL situation. Our original motors only hold 2 3/4 qts. with this install capacity is increased to 4qts. Part number for this specific sump is GB 210

    Need to show - the rag removal after the sump was on so we don't have anxiety and loose sleep thinking about it. 🤣🤣🤣😬😜

      I spent the time to make a detailed description to solve this. It's composed of years of research and highly detailed studies. This technique has been practiced since the automobile was invented and even before in certain industrial and commercial applications. It may be a bit involved but it's worth following every step without any variation. I'n fact it's crucial to the outcome of the work you are doing.
      Step one. Pull out the rag.
      Step two. Enjoy Zotz
      Step three. Ponder the significance of the seasons, maybe take a walk to view nature.
      Step four. make sure the laces on your right shoe are tight enough.
      Step five. Congrats you can proceed with installing your sump!

      @@NTNGMAN In retrospect I'm pretty sure I should have switched steps three and four...

    Really enjoyed your video, to the point and great descriptions. Do you need to beef up your oil pump because of the added sump tube length?

    • @the_Wagen
      @the_Wagen  6 місяців тому +1

      No you don’t. But a good oil pump is needed in any engine build. I prefer Gene Berg oil pumps.

    Dunno, I real would worry about that hanging down there. I already think the cases sit too low and could smack some rock or debris on the road.

    Does adding this sump block access to the original engine oil drain plug? If so, then where do you drain the oil from?

    • @the_Wagen
      @the_Wagen  10 місяців тому

      The added sump has a drain plug on it. Just like the original one.

      Increased oil capacity. Less chance of oil starvation on a high rev.

      And now when you change your oil (which is often with these air cooled engines) if you strip a stud when torquing up the sump Plate, you haven’t damaged the engine block just the new sump! 👍

    Can you expect your oil temp to drop with a sump. How much would you think..

    • @the_Wagen
      @the_Wagen  8 місяців тому

      Yes you can. Berg sumps are designed to assist in cooling. Plus the addition volume allows the oil a longer recovery period. An exact degree I can not tell you. Too many variables to consider. But a guess of 10* is safe to assume.
