I know every video puts down the kias and the Hyundai's but this is my second Kia soul. First one I bought used in 2016. It was a 65,000 mile 2013 model when I got it. That engine lasted to 288,000 mi. I replaced it with a used one and then drove it to 323,000 mi. When I traded it off for the 2021 that I now own. It has the 2.0 NU engine. This car now has 197,000 mi on it in just over 3 years. All I do to it is change the oil every 7,000 mi because I'm using fully synthetic and some people say that's still too long but it gets rather pricey to do it more often. I don't know why so many people have issues. Maybe it's because mine is driven everyday. It's driven hard everyday. 200 miles or more some days. So either I'm extremely lucky or I just maintain mine better by just changing the oil then other people do.
Sounds like possibly a lot of highway mileage which is only like 30% wear equivalent of city driving. However I will say my friend has had 2 up to about 150k with minor issues and he loves them.
Maintenance is key. Don’t follow vehicle manufacturer recommendations. Go earlier. 5k mile oil changes. Cvt oil, coolant. Early and often. Short trips require more frequent oil changes. Cvt fluid replacement every 45k miles.
Doesn't mean they won't have problems. People have religiously maintained their cars and still blew up engines and transmissions. It has to start with how the car is built first, then we can get into maintenance.
I work for 20 years as a Ford mechanic in Europe. Problems with drive belts only occor when using the wrong oil!! But i agree, it,s not the best system. From 2019 in Europe the 1.0l ecoboost engine has a timing chain.

How about the 1.4 TSI/TFSI 1st gen engine? VW's EA111 (1.2L turbo i4, 1.4L twincharged i4, 1.6L naturally aspirated direct injection/FSI i4), prone to timing chain issues, piston ring failures, and resulting in lack of oil fairly quickly. If you watch some German car mechanic workshops on UA-cam, this engine is a no-brainer for most. VW introduced "long-life" oil change intervals of 30.000km (~18.6k miles) or 2 years. Turns out an engine is not supposed to be serviced that way and they broke down as early as 60.000km (~37.2k miles). I had one myself, good and nice 140hp, 220nm of torque spanning from 1.750-4000 RPM, with a twincharged 1.4 inline 4 cylinder engine. Supercharged for lower RPM, turbocharged for higher rpm. It was fun to drive, but it quickly developed an error message, saying that the mixture was too rich (too much petrol/not enough air). The timing chain had already lengthened a bit, and the piston rings were broken, resulting in oil being burned, making it run too rich. I only had this car for 30.000km and I hoped with 10.000km oil change intervals it would run for longer, but the check engine light just came back and back and back....

Facts
Are you talking about the supercharged 3.0 V6?
@ChrisBrown-pz2gu Yes I am. The second gen from 2016 is total crap from 70K miles. A lot of people have excessive oil consumption issues and some like me ended with a failed motor needing replacement. Stay away from used recent Audis, ALL ENGINES.
@@KeliK1 ok, thank you 👍
Not true, I’ve owned plenty of Audis and rarely ever had problems with the engines, their newer engines are much better than the old, maybe not every engine they’ve ever made has been reliable, but keep up with the maintenance they’ll out run Toyota and ride much better in the process
THANK YOU FOR EXPOSING THESE TRASH RIP OFFS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gdi petrol engines have the same combustion function as a diesel.
diesels do not have spark plugs.
Still driving my hilux from 24 years ago now at 380,000ks and that's low, drives like a new car still.
Engine failure any day is less compared to automatic transmission failure
Which Nissan CVT is well known for !
@graemecouch5010 thing that bothers me the most is why Honda is so adamant about cvt
ALWAYS AN EV IN NEWS ABOUT FIRES BUT NIT A WORD ABOUT FIRES ON MANY PETROL CARS

Mercedes e250 cgi 2010 station wagon 14000 miles to much repair around 20. 000 dollar and i have this car in 4 years

I wouldn't buy any suv, because for starters, there's nothing sporty about them.
OKGay !, 😂
MOST OF US KNOW THAT CARS, ESPECIALLY AMERICAN CARS, ARE PURPOSELY MADE DISPOSABLE AND PROBLEMATIC THE TIME IT'S PAID. YOU KNOW, APPROXIMATELY 3-5 YEARS. JAPANESE CARS ARE MORE RELIABLE. AMERICAN TRUCKS AND CLASSIC MUSCLE CARS ARE THE BEST AND MOST RELIABLE VEHICLES IN THE US WITH THE SACRIFICE OF HIGH FUEL CONSUMPTION AND NEED FOR MORE SKILLED DRIVERS.
Most precious comment ever ...
BMW 2016- x3 timing chain issue😂😂😂 after 30000 miles
lol you totally neglect that Hyundai and Kia gives 10 years/100k miles powertrain warranty. That along is already the most reliable brand as long as you are not a dumb driver and maintain your car religiously.
I thought BMW and Audi cars are premiums? How come they have this kind of problems?!
Illusion of premium.
A lot of problems due to shitty service.
Its a combination of high performance engines with low to poor driving skills. These motor systems require constant upkeep and maintenance, which people rarely do.
In Europe they seem to work better than in the American market that's not just the manufacturers fault.
You can buy Yugo suv
I had a 2014 Kia Sorento with the 2.4 GDI engine. It was recalled and Kia had to replace the engine. It wasn't till after I started listening to Scotty Kilmer on You Tube that I found out what junk Kias's and Hyndai's are. I'll never buy another one.
Been following Scotty since long years. That guy is a treasure.
Northstar engine is the worse
Subaru 👍
If the subaru boxer engine isn't on here for their head gaskets. This video isn't worth your time
that hasn't been an issue for almost 15 years now....like not since 2011
Get with times mcfly
Also, the JLR Ingenium engines with cylinder deactivation are notorious for failures.
Also the JETCO ones, old buddy!
Lame , no. 1 should be Subaru 2.0 boxer diesel engine!
Ford 1.0 ecoboost 3L engine?... Are you fucking kidding me?
BullCrap,if you maintain your car,you ain't gotta worry about any thing.
