I personally think they announced the fight, saw what everyone was saying about it being a exhibition event and then went to the caulk board. Andre Ward is just a plain awesome dude.
The videos of Tyson sparring to prepare makes me lean towards this being a fixed fight. The man you see sparring, with those quick aggressive strikes was not the one in the ring. At minimum they had to have had a rule about not going hard and fast for Mike
The women’s fight that preceded it was a better fight.
Mike's ring walk told me everything I needed to know. He was already limping.
Jake Paul is not trying to be a mark in real boxing. It's side show boxing. That's his mark in the sport.
I agree. Also let me add this, if Jake had of knocked out Mike. So many real boxers would be seriously gunning for him, Jake would have been public enemy number 1 on the boxers hit list.
He's an opportunist than a true competitor. Why not start fighting ranked opponents in Boxing? They still exist. While he may have some boxing skill, his strategy indicates that he’s more interested in shaping a winning image than in proving himself in the toughest arenas. Really wish people like Stephan A would call him out on that fact.

Mike was not just old, he was ill. Looked sick. The short rounds and reduced number of rounds supposedly favored Mike, but in fact, it allowed Jake to ride his bicycle every round without fatigue for the whole 8 rounds. When Mike was in his early 20’s other fighters strategized that they could run from Mike, but Mike’s legs were better so he chased them down, cut off the ring and knocked them out. Not now.
This Mike Tyson versus Jake Paul fight was the hype of the century.

If you didn't bet the house on Paul for an easy payday (because Paul and Tyson was getting an easy payday on a fixed fight) I don't know what to tell you. No way was a 27 year old gonna LEGIT fight a 58 year old, and damn sure wasn't gonna lose to him. Even if you felt it may be a legit fight, Tyson literally almost dying, and being in the hospital before the fight should have told you this would be an easy pay day betting on Paul regardless. It was like a send off for Tyson, and a 20 million dollar gift. I'm happy for Tyson and his family. Now he can ride off into the sunset with a huge payday, and enjoy the rest of his days.
I agree 100%. The fight should have never happened. They hyped everyone up with all the pre fight videos on social media. Tyson looked like he couldn't make it the next rounds after round 1. I will say Jake out of respect did not knock him out. Jake could of dropped him in round 2. But he knew how it would look after the fight. He respectively carried him until the end and I really liked what Jake did with 10 seconds left in the last round. He bowed and shook Tyson's glove out or respect. I kind of will always consider Tyson to be 'my boy.'
It's sad, but typical, that...58 years old or not...with all those months of training, according to you, Stephen (I haven't watched the fight yet), Tyson was 'gassed' in the first round and only became more and more so throughout the fight. Case in point: Most people in their 50s or older, by far, just don't have the stamina, speed, etc. to be able to fight effectively anywhere near the capacity they had in say their 30s; no surprise...even with LOTS of training.
Yes, it would've been unprecedented and a miracle if a 58 year old Tyson had beaten someone decades younger than him; but I believe in miracles esp. in today's day and age.
I am glad that Tyson fought Paul and at least Tyson went the distance...as did also Rocky Balboa (in his early 60s) went the distance with a much younger foe in the last Rocky movie ever.

Jake tried his best to take Mike's head of what in the hell are you talking about?! He was swinging for the fences and Mike wasn't going no where! So since Mike wasn't going nowhere, Jake tried to play it off at the 10 second final knock to end of the fight faking like he was paying some damn respect and homage which is sooo far from the truth!! He fought a 1 legged, torn meniscus, injured knee braced, sickly unhealthy old fighter who almost left this earth a few months ago! People who's blind need to stop saying he took it easy, he couldn't knock a one legged older man out with one leg.. He knew the threat of danger was still there and didn't want to take anymore chances coming in..Jake was tired as well! Mike compromised going into the fight and tried his best in pain to show some burst, but that quickly ended.. Out of pain and frustration of his mobility being compromised and not being able to use his legs to cut of the ring and get to the target caused the biting of the glove! His good leg is over compensating for the other making his balance look completely unstable.. Mike was not hurt once in that fight except for his knee he tore his meniscus on and boxing record.. He was just off balance and on Joe Biden legs at the end from the other leg being over worked to keep him up.. So Jakes had to come up with a preplanned narrative and "act" towards the end if he couldn't physically get Mike out.. One legged unhealthy Mike still was able to slip a lot of his punches which was making Jake look bad, and he ate all of his power shots.. So the script was if you can't get him out of here "act" at the end to try to save face!
Jake was holding back the entire fight. So was Mike, but Mike knew he couldn't take Jake's pressure so he didn't apply any real pressure himself. Also, Mike was not feeling well at all and had to fight his own body.

Stephen A, love the show, avid listener. Another reason why Jake won’t take a real fight is because when he takes an L to a real fighter it will eventually hit his pockets too. When you lose fights people start losing interest in you and in return he won’t be making the same money anymore that he is now. It’s better for him to keep with these “hype” fights and keep those M’s rolling in. My .02.
