- Here is another classic I learned as a kid from the playing of Clarence Tom Ashley. I have mostly done this in Sawmill tuning (gDGCD) over the years but today have just tried this in double C tuning (gCGCD) but with my voice it's better at the second fret or double D or (aDADE) .. So I am playing in D minor in Double D tuning ..I am playing my Mike Ramsey Dobson with a nice John Balch goat head and a Bill Rickard bridge and nylgut strings (and a no knot tailpiece.
Damn this is good. Thanks for sharing!
I remember singing this in the '60s, but not with a banjo. Since my everyday banjo is generally tuned aDADE, I will get to work on this right away. Thanks for posting!
I still just love your music Guy. I'd honestly buy tickets to see you play
any day.
I've always liked this. You do a great job on it.
Great as usual. I'm having a blast learning these songs from your videos. Thank you so much!
You are so welcome .. Tom Ashley was such a gift to my generation .. I am so glad to give back anything that might be helpful to keep this music alive and home made .... YOurs Guy
Guy Wolff is my favorite banjo player... (;-)
What a kind thing to say @! Thanks James for the very kind words.. G
Amazing! have you ever considered making tutorials, I would love to learn this song
Being that everything I do from ear learning I dont know how good my teaching would be ... There are so many great teachers on YT .. David Bragger, Chris Berry and Hilarie Burhans come to mind
Beautiful version Guy.
Hello Gadaya , , I do like working in dorian mode out of Double C tuning .. Yours Guy
Sounds very British to be honest.
Thanks
