    Ah Abraham Lincoln. Truly, he stands among the saints of history for his great deed.
    Was he perfect? No, he was Human like you or I and his view might not fully match up with our present's ideas but if you're ragging on a man from 200 years ago on not meeting your standards of morality that's for own problem.
    None the less, there's a reason Lincoln stands among as one of the greatest Presidents the US had. Starting from such humble beginnings of practical poverty to successful lawyer and leader of a nation through it's biggest crisis yet, ending the practice of slavery. God bless Lincoln and God bless the Union.

      While he wasn't perfect, he was certainly one of the best (probably the best) president that the US ever had.

      There were people back then who wouldn’t be racist by todays standards, such as Charles Sumner.

      Very well said. Of course he wasn’t flawless. He nonetheless died for the sake of racial equality, murdered by a white supremacist.

      Lol such an American exceptionalist take. This is a joke you guys aren’t “leftists”, just liberals. Scratch a liberal you’ll get American empiricists who will support the “fascistic” MIC

    I overwhelmingly enjoyed this! I work for a museum focused in the 1840s and have grown a great fondness for the Hutchinson family. Jesse Hutchinson was truly the Bob Dylan of the mid 19th centry, some consider him the greatest political songwriter of the 19th centry. Could you by chance do any more of his music? Such as Get off the Track, King Alcohol, or Uncle Sam's Farm.

    Abolition was a rather niche reason for supporting lincoln in 1860, since he never promised it during campaigning and so this would lamentably not represent the average northerner's views in 1860 but hot DAMN what a great song.
    'Attend to humanity's call' hell yes I'll heed that call.

    • @sebastianguerra6358
      @sebastianguerra6358 11 місяців тому +3

      Lincoln did not promise abolition but he clearly stated he was against slavery, repeteadly staring that the Republican Party would put it "on the course of ultimate extinction." It's true that not all Lincoln supporters were anti-slavery people, but if you disliked slavery you probably were voting for Lincoln, who promised clearly and repeatedly that he would not submit to the Slave Power, would limit slavery's expansion and put it on the path of ultimate extinction. If you saw slavery as something good, you were not voting for Lincoln.
      Lincoln was the anti-slavery candidate. Simple as that.

      @@brremsilverte.9022 I feel both compliment each other, within Grant the union might not have won, as he was the best general in the entire war. But without Lincoln appointing Grant there would have been no Grant presidency. Both are among the best men in our history and we owe them both immensely

    I don’t mean to take away from the beautiful artistic talent you have. But I must ask what exactly are your views? Because my unpopular opinion is that if you are anti American Empiricism then revering the Union is even more ironic than revering the Confederate South. Not to excuse the Confederate by any means but remember, It was “The Union” who “killed the Buffalo to kill the Indian” not the confederates
