Looking for a new, better helmet. This is. This video is the gold standard of helmet reviews! Thanks, I now feel I can make a well informed choice. Awesome!
Best channel for helmet reviews ever! I was determined to get the RPHA 91 after watching the 2023 video, but the fit is not right for me. Now off to try the C5 and the Neotec to decide between the two. keep up the good work, you are a truly valuable channel to follow.
Love the review, shame that I was swayed to get the Nolan N100-5 plus cause it was 233 euros after discounts, can't wait for these beauties to come to discounts in the future for that better value proposition!
I was doubting the hjc carbon and the neotec 3. Last Saturday I choose the neotec. 2 reasons: 1. Custom fitting which made the fit so much better. And 2. Although the hjc is quieter, I optimize for music quality. And the Sena srl 3 has Harmon Kardon speakers whilst the hjc smart 50b (also from Sena) only has HD speakers.
If you prioritize sound quality you should get a set of in ear monitors. The mee audio in ear monitors come with comply noise isolation ear tips that have the same noise isolation as earplugs. I can listen to my music under half volume with clarity like I’m at home
During two visits late last year to a local bike shop I spent a couple hours trying on helmets ranging from budget to over $1000. Of the helmets I tried on, only three were on this list. I ultimately bought the AGV Tourmodular and am quite pleased with it. The Italians make some fine helmets. I favoured Arai, Shoei and Schuberth and in several ways they are better helmets but I just couldn't get a good fit. The fit of a helmet trumps all other criteria. A helmet can't protect you properly if it's moving around on your head or comes off during a crash. Apparently up to 25% of motorcyclists wear the wrong size of helmet. Second is comfort. All the other bells and whistles are just icing on the cake. Riding with an improper fitting (and therefore unsafe) helmet that is uncomfortable and distracting your situational awareness is not a good scene.
Thank you for your comment. It speaks for itself that fit is important. You alsmost make it appear as if fit makes a quality helmet, but this is simply not the case. What good is a helmet with a proper fit for you personally but with a weak visor, over 2000 grams, extremely noisy, extremely hot in the summer. Fit is a condition to wear a good helmet, but it's not a quality charachteristic, where the criteria that we measure are. I also saw this wild 25% claim made by a certain channel last week, but this wild 25% claim makes it appear as if it's the fit that makes a good helmet. This is just to justify the fact that they're basically giving you an opinion in their movie on what they believe ia a "good helmet", rather than a measurement. Where we say a good fit is the starting point, and from there we'll measure (read: not give you a personal opinion) what makes a good helmet for the things that are actually quality features and the same for all riders. Hopes this makes sense.
Intrigued by the AGV tourmodular, especially since they use cardo. It seems like one thing that's missing when evaluating weight is how it feels at speed/on your head. I've had neotec for years and it feels heavy in-the-hand but mostly disappears when riding.
Thank you for doing the homework for me, I will be buying a modular helmet and I'm also interested in an Aria full face helmet, I realize I'll be paying $1000 for the Arai but I just love those helmets. Liked, commented and new subscriber here.
Appreciate the support! And we have reviews out for both the Arai Quantic and the Arai RX-7V Evo on our channel! They're also featured in our Top 10 Sport-touring helmets and top 10 Race helmets respectively!
I watched this video and bought RPHA 91C. Great quality, great in city. I drive a naked, so after 90 kmh CRAZY low frequency noise. Okaaay... luckily changed to Scorpion EXO-Tech C. What to say. As a 3/4 it is a great helmet. As closed, it extremely sucks. In parallel i have old ADX-II and it is MUCH more quiet until 140. I hope I can do a second change. Now to a simple 3/4 with long visor. To hell the safety, I want my hearing good.
Your helmet reviews are very good. Often use this together with SHARP to decide what go for when purcase a new helmet. But there is one thing I miss, and that is shape. It does not help buy the worlds best helmet if not fit your head. It will make more noise and protect less.
I bought the RPHA 91 Carbon and returned it. Seems like they changed the helmet on it because I've had the RPHA 90S Carbon for three years. I wear a Medium and the 91 is tighter on the sides and is heavier as well.
That's very unfortunate. Many ECE22.06 helmets weigh more than their ECE22.05 predecessors due to the stricter standards. In terms of fitment, would you consider a larger size or are you going for an entirely different helmet? Thanks for the comment 💪
@@Championhelmets I thought about ordering the large size, but the weight gets to me, and I hate returning things. I lucked out on a AGV Sport Modular on sale direct. I've tried this on like three times when it first came and the fitment was never right, but for some reason this year it fits good and has better graphics. I also wanted to try a 180 Modular. I just picked up an LS2 Advant X Carbon with graphics from you guys which isn't available here in the states.
Appreciate it! Keep in mind that this video mostly covers the high-end segment of modular helmets. There way more budget friendly alternatives out there.
This page evaluates everything very well. Unfortunately, the true quality of the helmet material and its mechanisms is only known with time. And in that, HJC defers in my experience
The prices in our video are 'recommended retail prices' or MSRP set by the manufacturer. We can't use promotional prices, as they vary per region, and can change from day to day.
Haha, that Roof boxxer can't be a real helmet. :D But when it comes to feature scoring, personally I would make built in communications as a minus score, they are in the way of better systems that while mounted on the outside can give you better features than whatever crap the manufacturer included which most of the time is only there because Sena or whoever have good salesmen. Having a built in Sena system will only make it problematic if my friends use Cardo.
Very much agree with this! Wish Shoei and HJC supported inbuilt Cardo as well. Bought a Schubert C5 with Sena and the sound was very poor compared to Cardo on other helmets.
The Hjc Rpha 91 is a piece of crap. It's DOA for me. The mechanism to hold up the chin is so flimsy. I recommend the 90s carbon until HJC issue a fix for all rpha 91
The 90s carbon is also crap. I bought 1 last year and today they no longer work: helmet visor does not stay open, pinlock comes loose, rubber bands fall off, sun visor does not work.

@@rodrich06 HJC quality is sad man, I have a LS2 Vectore from 2019 and it's still doing the job. I got a shoei Neotec 3 and Shoei Gt Air 2 recently, the Japanese quality is so much better than the HJC
This channel is lightyears ahead when it comes to helmet reviews.
This is the BEST helmet comparison I've ever seen. Bravo!
Was the position of the chin bar when open (above or behind the helmet) not a consideration in terms of added neck strain from the wind?
This is the best channel for helmet reviews! The only ones with such technically detailed tests! Congratulations, keep it up 👏🏼
Excellent video !! I bought the HJC Arpha 91 based on 2023 year video and i am very happy with that ! Keep up with your great job ...Thank you
Glad our video helped!
man, how you can ride in it? after 90kmh it is CRAZY low frequency noise... never had a helmet so loud...
@@TheVroomable Are we talking about the same helmet ??? Mine is the Arpha 91 ???
@@ngprof yes. RPHA 91 carbon version. Appeared absolute shit for me. Changed in result to Nolan N100-6 and it is quite fine.
Very cool to see this channel growing. You guys really deserve that.
The other important/must critia is head shape... Round vs Long oval can be like chinese torture... which are round or on the round side?
Thanks for continuing to pump out quality reviews and having an excellent pick of helmets!
