Got my daily fix of motorcycle adventure before getting out of bed.... Thanks Sterling👍🏿
Shhh. The NorCal coast is a hidden gem. You've only scratched the surface of the most excellent, mostly paved backroads of Mendocino and Sonoma counties. Thanks for featuring the Stewart's Point store. It closed for a few years but was recently purchased and re-opened. Much like small towns along BDR's, these little outposts rely on visitors for their livelihood. There are plenty more along Hwy 1: Jenner-by-Sea, Bodega Bay (crab sandwiches), Valley Ford, Dillion Beach, Tomales, etc. Ride on.
I think this is up there with your best videos Sterling. You captured the relaxing vibe of your trip and the beauty of the coastline. Perfect for a Sunday morning. 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Enjoyed your lovely video, beautiful Cal.
Enjoyed it as always
Initially found the $40 plus dollar campground OUTRAGEOUS, but then I thought about it. I decided it was high enough to keep out the riff raff, but low enough to allow the well intentioned a degree of separation from that ellement. Nothing worse than camping next to folks who thing everyone for miles around wants to hear their mix-tape at 11:00 PM
I've been blessed to be able to ride these roads for the last 20 years. Thank you for narrating ne of my favorite Sunday rides
Been riding those roads 52 years. I live about 25 miles from Stewart’s Point.
Oh man, you missed Point Reyes! Lots of cool stuff to see in that area
This is a bucket list item for me. Great scenes and great video, thanks for posting.
Some very nice cinematography, another poetic piece!
Great video! I've ridden Hwy 1 from SF to Mendocino and back many times. It's SUCH a GREAT road! It's 5 hours of twisties with one of the most beautiful views in the world. It's my favorite ride in California, hands down. Your video just reminded me of those trips. I shared it to all my buddies that I've ridden Hwy 1 with :-)
Big fat thumbs up for you!
Just put that on my bucket list that is one beautiful place would be great to visit. Thanks for the video.
These videos are an ongoing reminder that there is so much beauty to see that there is no excuse for not going out and experiencing it. A friend and I drove up Highway 1 in the 80's and we had to make a strict rule. The driver is not allowed to sight see. The beautiful scenery was too distracting. It wasn't safe to gawk and drive.
As always Top Notch!
Hi Sterling. What a magic ride and camp. Loved it sick. Cheers from John from far away Gold Coast Australia
Thanks for sharing your travels. Coming down from Fort Bragg into Clear Lake and Napa Valley is a favorite ride. Your video has me wanting to jump on my bike and do it right now 🏍️👍
Wonderful episode along the stunning Pacific Coast Highway. Your filming highlights the beauty and uniqueness of this area.
Love the video. I live in Portland, OR and have done the pch ride down to San Francisco 3 times. Twice with a different passenger. Once in the spring, once in the summer and once in the fall. The warmest time was in the fall. But I enjoyed all 3 of my adventures. I also have rented a convertible car in San Francisco and drove down highway 1 to Los Angeles. All of highway 1 are Amazing views and exciting road to ride and drive on. Can't wait to do it again next year God willing.
I live within 45 minutes of that Lake, and have rode the same highways you did. Even camped in Fort Bragg and stayed in Ocean Cove LOL! It’s really awesome to see your perspective on the places I’ve traveled. Keep the videos coming! Love your work.
Hiway 1 twisties can be a little scary in our 27-foot motorhome but should be great in good weather via motorcycle. Great scenery, small beach towns with good eats. I would prefer sharing this with a good friend rather than alone. Beware some unsavory characters stealing your stuff.
Perfect timing, my friend, I will be taking 2 months off next year and doing quite a few of these roads. On my way to the BMW MOA rally in Redmond Oregon.👍🏼🇺🇸
Great Video. Thanks for sharing.
The Road spectacular 👌🏻🏅.....
Thanks for Sharing this...absolutely love it...but im so angry at myself..coz i did drive all the way from south California up to Vancouver CANADA 🇨🇦 North... wish if i had chosen this road
Next time i hope 😊😅...
Greetings from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 🌴💐
Another great video. The KOA at Manchester Beach is a good place to camp and the ocean is only a 1.5 mile hike. The lighthouse at Port Arena is worth checking out too.
Such beautiful scenery and great filming. It's always fun to follow along on your motorcycle adventures. Good luck in the future.
Lovely video, beautiful cinematography, I just mute it and put music on. Keep it up!
What an amazing video Sterling, well done you and thanks for sharing these! 👍👍
Another great ride adventure Sterling. The coast road is a biker's dream. Scenery, winding road, good road surface. I just got back and am heading out again tomorrow for a week on Vancouver Island. Keep the rubber side down Sterling, thanks.
Great video thank you very well done.
solid ride! see you on the next one!
Good stuff, thank you!
I really enjoy your videos! Thank you for sharing. I have been on many of your roads.
Another really inspiring video Sterling ! This is a beautiful country and the only way to truly experience it is on a motorcycle.
Imagine being a photographer back in the late 70's and early 80's doing that ride. Stop, spool in another roll. Sometimes not even a mile down the coast. Hundreds or more sea lions at the mouth of the Russian River. Whales blowing off the coast. Those old houses and shacks, well they looked pretty new then. Quite a sight for an ole boy from east Kentucky. In later years I had the opportunity to work the coast up and down the PCH. It's a wonderful experience. Much like going back in time with the older style stores, the lack of modern big box merchants. Children schooled by radio and maybe internet. I recommend it to all. Good video Sterling. Some spectacular views.
Good stuff! I'm a NorCal local, and you were riding some of my favorites. Next time, when you pass through Point Arena, be sure to stop at Zen House, a remarkable motorcycle shop. Also, on weekends when traffic can get heavy on 1, be aware that there are many roads just inland from the coast that are very entertaining, and which will get you out of traffic. For instance, the tourist traffic in Bodega Bay can be annoying, but can be circumvented on a couple of different roads.
Fantastic to see your work getting better and better!
This has to be one of your best yet. I have a picture of my VFR800 in front of the Stewart's Point store from about 22 years ago. Gotta love Highway 1 on a bike.
Beautiful scenery, really inspiring
⭕️jus a suggestion to help... take a regular water bottle with you, the reason is they're useful in more ways than you think... durable enough to squeeze and roll up and reuse... Cary an extra lid, take the tip of your knife and put a tiny hole in it (no bigger than a finishing nail or smaller) jus offset so as to get every drop. instant squirtgun ... water pressure to use for dishes and toothbrush and conserves a ton of water... a 20 Oz bottle can clean all the dishes and then your toothbrush a few times... i use this technique and have been for years as an OTR driver. and if need be ... in the desert... it's a bath ...
I'm fortunate enough to be able to ride that section of Highway 1 often. Stewart's Point Store is a great place to stop to take a break and grab some caffeine. The section of Highway 1 between Bodega Bay and Fort Bragg is an awesome motorcycling road with great scenery. The Big Sur area, in my opinion, has more stunning views, but the section you were on is a better motorcycling road.
Great route, beautiful area, easy dinner with a view. Solid day of riding, for sure. Cheers!
Knocked it out of the park again. I enjoyed the different shots tied together with great music. $50 a night for a tent camping spot is criminal.
I saw you on this day of your riding I have been watching your videos on Sunday as you've come down the coast I know all these areas very well and it is really interesting hearing your input on them glad you have enjoyed your days cruising on the coast maybe see you someday again on the trail going to try to make it to your campground
What a fantastic road😃
Thank you for inspiring us sterling ..
....I did, quite a bit!! Thanks Sterling, this was a great way to start my Sunday morning..All the best from Canada..
Lake Berryessa is my regular riding area with so many great roads and places to see the water. I'm so happy that you got to experience it !!!
Riding elevated along an ocean is amazing. Pity that in Europe those roads are far away. The easiest views are the alpine lakes in Northern Italy like Lake Garda or Lake Iseo. But then California is quite some way from your native Arizona. Thanks for taking us along and telling your stories, Günter/Nürnberg
Yes we did enjoy.
damn Sterling you were in my backyard. Don't know when you were there but looks like you camped at Lake Berryessa. You should have contacted me there is several good free camping in the area. Yeah Stewart Point store is really cool and the people are super nice. I often (like almost once a week ride out there just for a cup. If you looked across the street from the store there is a little road, Skaggs Springs Rd. That road is epic and leads you to Lake Sonoma (great camping) and into the small town of Healdsburg, almost reminds me of Bisbee. Looks like you have a great experience down the coast. Next time let me know your coming and we will at least get a cup of coffee or glass of wine. thanks for sharing, like always I enjoyed it.
I was thinking the same! I ride out 128 all the time. Ill be up to Fort Bragg next weekend and am planning to integrate Skaggs Springs and Mountain View Rds in to my route.
I do agree with you about the points . Thanks for taking us on this beautiful journey can't wait for more !!
We ride this area all the time. There’s a lot of neat roads connecting 101 and 1 if you’re interested in exploring the mountain range in this area. One of the best is Skaggs Road that drops in right where you ate in Stewarts Point. Thanks for the well produced footage.
Home sweet home! Lovely video as always.
Awesome video, Sterling! One of your very best. You're in our backyard and our riding group, the West Coast Crudders, has frequented all of the sights you visited. The southern part of highway 1 from Monterey south to Santa Barbara is equally beautiful and worth your time if you have it. There is also some great food, especially beef, in the Santa Maria Valley area, not to be missed. Thank you for a great trip down memory lane.
Just delightful 🙏😀🏍️💨
Sterling - thanks for another epic and high quality video. In July, I traveled from Wyoming to Astoria and down just past the Lost Coast Highway. I took my Norden 901. After watching your awesome series, I will be going back next July to follow your path. Thanks.
I am spending some time in Santa Rosa and love riding all these nice roads. Great job filming it! Only suggestion would be to show a map of your route or some of it. You would have really enjoyed if you turned inland at Stewarts Point and did Skaggs Springs road.
The challenging road inland was at Stewart’s point store. Skaggs springs road will take you to Lake Sonoma wine country. Don’t tell anybody it’s better than Napa. Ride safe Ride free friend.
What an awesome ride! A new addition to the bucket list! 😃
Love your cinematography, commentary and those well composed still shots. Very well done. Thanks for your excellent work!
Sonoma County is the famous wine making area! ....Napa is near there.
Thanks for another great video man. I sure like that campsite where you jumped in the lake. Awesome.😊
Nice.
Brought back some nice memories of a ride I did about 20 years ago. Wish I still lived in the area. Ride safe.
Some beautiful country, California is one of the few states I haven't been to but if I do I will definitely travel through this area.
I am very happy you put this video together to showcase Hwy 1 from the perspective of a motorcyclist. I rode this route in August from Ft Bragg down through Calistoga and into the Bay Area (where I live) and your trip through Stewart’s Point and various other stops makes me want to do this trip again. Thank you for such a beautifully done video.
Thanks so much for this beautiful video! Absolutely awesome photography!
I agree. Great video that seems to inviting to new viewers and loyal viewers equally. ✌
As always a great video , loved the scenery 😊 cheers Pete Western 👍
Good halett starling
Thanks for sharing and bring back memories Sterling. I have fond memories of that ride with my dad on the way to Laguna Seca numerous times. Glad to see the Stewarts Point Store is open. Be sure to ride Stewarts Pass/Skaggs Spirngs Rd East to Geyserville/Napa Valley. Riders nicknamed a portion of the road on top as the Race Track:) The Dry Creek Deli is a must stop at the bottom.
Thanks for another beautiful episode. I’ve pretty much run out of superlatives to describe your videography. The time and care you give to frame each shot shows in the end result. Thanks again.
Great video Sterling! THANK YOU for the content.
Thank you Sterling for another adventure. i just had Cervical Spinal Fusion .its going to keep me off the Pan America for some Time but i really enjoy learning how you Film
It's a trip to see you ride the roads I ride constantly. I was just at that campground last week for boating. I certainly hope you enjoyed your time through my neck of the woods.
Heres to hoping you rode through the Santa Cruz Mountains next
Another great one, thanks Sterling! David - South Africa
As always:a sterling presentation !!
I remember camping on the beaches for free and lake Berryessa for $5.00 a night
This has to be your best video yet! These are familiar locales and it’s great that you captured it. I noticed a switch to Klim gear from your BMW Rally. How do you like it? Plan on a review?
Point Uh-reeena😊
I rode this last July on my VFR800. I truly think Highway 1 north of San Francisco easily surpasses its more popular segment south of Monterey for its scenic beauty and roads.
Did the PCH in convertible car when visiting from the U.K. It is truley magical. Saving this episode to view again. When we going to see the Husky again?
I’m going to hit the 1 headed north from San Louis Obispo soon. Never ridden on the 1, only driven. It is a beautiful area. I’ll try to avoid any $48 camp grinds though lol.
Thank you Sterling for another wonderful trip along the coastline. My gosh would it be fun to ride with you on my GS 1250! You could be my guide! 🤣. Marc, Québec, Canada 🇨🇦😉🏍
Great video! I rode that route north from the Bay Area up to Arcata. I can agree that it’s hard to not stop at every bend for photos and to just take it all in. I love looking forward to your videos because it inspires my next journeys. I also take inspiration from the care you take to set up your compositions. I’ve really learned a lot from your cinematic perspective and appreciate how you take the time to talk about your processes and techniques. Watching how your travel gear has evolved over time has been helpful too. I have a very similar setup so when I found your channel i really got excited. Thanks again for working so hard to make it look so easy.
❤❤❤❤❤
I was wondering when was the next video coming online, thanks
14:15 That was previously where Tony Stark lived.
The Lost Coast won't be forgotten for much longer. The entire NorCal coast is paradise for motorcycling. Where did you fall, seeing the chunks of mud on the engine bars?
Low speed slip on Sherwood Rd, Northern California coast. He captured the whole thing in his last video. Gotta take the good with the bad I suppose.
LOVE your stuff brother, we should collaborate. Fellow filmmaker and bike rider.
Don’t know where you decided to go but I would’ve left the coast and explored Napa/Sonoma and head towards the foothills along the delta
You mentioned a while back that you were contemplating attending "Burning Man"....I pray you changed your mind....OCB
After watching numerous vids of yours over the last few months (been subscribed for a year) I feel like we should set up a GoFundMe page for you to get your GS serviced as seeing that yellow caution light regretful. This from a guy with 6 BMW motos, and a GS911
Mannnnn...amazing videography, storytelling and music...Loved it...one of your best videos❤❤❤
Could you please help me with the details of the helmet mic setup? I have been struggling so much with the gain, wind noise etc. Would be really grateful!
Love from India❤❤❤🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
About your camp site reviews, I don't recall any mention of washrooms at the campsites you stay at.
it's pronounced Walala😅 (Gualala)
my favorite part of Mendocino
What about toilets, showers, waste bins... (i.e. basic facilities = 1, more like electricity, wifi = 2, none =0) there should be a category for that in your camping ranking :-)
Been watching your channel for quite awhile now and really enjoying your quality cinematography.
How many miles do you have on your GS now?
On his last big ride he set out with 53k on the clock. Pretty sure he’s close to 65k by now.
I know your more of a professional, but do you edit then post videos while on a trip or do you wait till after the trip? Ive only edited a few videos and because I dont know what Im doing each video takes HOURS to complete. I just cant imagine doing it while on a trip.
